Christmas in California Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:16:55 PM#71804Perm Link
My younger brother and I get to spend Christmas holiday in California with family! Our estranged father, whom my brother has never met, contacted us and offered to pay for the trip.
Our tickets have already been purchased for Dec 17th to Jan 4th and I am totally stoked. It will be my younger brother's first time meeting our father as our parents separated when she was pregnant with him. She divorced Dad from another state and he lost any parental and vistation rights after that.
The whole thing has been brought up because after meeting me again for the first time in sixteen years (of my own volition when I turned eighteen), Dad has taken an interest in my brother and has started paying some long overdue child support. He is also very old (sixty-six while my brother is sixteen) and has debilitating diabetes... Doctors say he may lose his legs within the next year.
The whole trip will not be spent with him however. We also have a sister (plus her family), three half-brothers (plus their families), and some other extended relatives California. We're actually going to spend Christmas day itself in SF with my sister.
It's going to be frikkin intense. I can hardly wait and it's only August!
On that note, try not to force your brother into doing so.
Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today? Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection. Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!
