The Q/A boredness thread!

A: Sure, I mean, I REALLY REALLY don't want to die...but I've always been interested in what actually happens to you after you die. Considering your thoughts and memories are energy, they can't be destroyed (whereas your body can)...so they have to go somewhere. I'm not implying a heaven or hell (I don't believe in hell), but I'm sure even an atheist would agree that your 'soul' has to go SOMEWHERE.

Actually, I think energy is energy (what you use to sustain your cognitive processes, such as sight, respiration, etc), and memories are cell groupings. Thoughts would come under the former. So on the basis that a person's "soul" is the energy which keeps them alive, all nutritional value would be a past/potential soul.

A: No, but then I'm not the most moral/social conformist person in existence. I heard one of my classmates did it in a Jackass style thing, and ended up looking like.... a Jackass.

A: Yes. Every type of person needs music...from the insanely happy...to the morbidly depressed.

Q: On the subject of music, could we all live without rap?

A: No.

Q: What is so bad about rap? There <i>is</i> some good rap. There always is at least <i>some</i> good music in every genre.

A: Nothing, as long as we maintain that it's evolved past the "yo yo yo, I'm a bust a gat at yo, muhfucka, yo yo WEST COAST" phase.

Q: Is there a such thing as good Country Western?

A: Nothing, I do like some rap songs, but a majority of rap goes a little something like this. "So I slapped mah bitch and threw her in the closet. Her dad came over-I pop I cap in his ass. I have sex with his corpse and rape the dog-I take her out of the closet-and throw her off da balcony. Da cops show up, den day start firin'-I take a policeman hostage and make him suck mah dick. Den I throw him off da balcony...BITCH!"

A: No, save for maybe three songs, Country Western music sucks.

A: The majority of rap is like that. Especially ICP. *shudder* So yes. Oh, and it's not "BITCH", it's "BEEEOTCH". =P

Q: Why do people make non-commercial, mediocre music in the knowledge that it is horrible in all conceivable ways?

A: BECAUSE THEY'RE REBELLING AND FIGHTIN' THE POWERRRRR!!!1

A: (my mistake ) To make lots and lots of money off stupid and/or dependant people. That's really what just about anyone who works in the public eye does.

A: Most of it isn't. I'm talking about the stuff that is simultaneously not commercial AND crap. =)

A: Actually, it was Tiamat from Final Fantasy 1. It was a really cool picture in my opinion, I just hope I can find it again.

A: Because this one is remotely interesting. The Word Association is more of a displacement activity.

A: I don't know. I like Metallica from "Kill 'Em All" to "...And Justice For All". But I can't stand it when people say that they were 'such an influental band'. They weren't. I've said it before and I'll say it again, all they did was expand on the open harmonies already set in place by bands like Iron Maiden and others that they grew up covering. The only bands that Metallica influenced were bay area wanna-be's. That being said, "Kill 'Em All" to "...And Justice For Alll" rocks. "Ride The Lightning" is divine.

Q: Have you seen Metallica live?

A: Yes, Summer Sanatarium at the meadowlands in NYC.

Follow up: I don't care about their legacy and all that bullshit, if it sounds nice, it's what I listen to

A: Classical music. Seriously. Ever heard O Fortuna? That's HARD.

A: Hmm. I'm not sure what you mean by 'hardest'. Um... I listen to a lot of whacked out metalcore and noisecore. As well as some pretty sick black metal bands. Hmm... so I'm going to liste 'em.

Xasthur - in black metal, they are the soundtrack to fear.
Today is the Day - "In The Eyes of God"-era, like a mass-murder with an onslought of riffs, blast beats, and insanity.
Curse of the Golden Vampire - extreme technonoise played by masters of brutal music. Harsh stuff.
Khanate - hard to call it 'music'. Very frightening to listen to. Blackened doom originators. And Blackened doom legends.
Unearthly Trance - cold black-ish doom played at a Burzum pace.
Watchmaker - Sick black metal band who's new release was a hardcore//deathmetal//punk release. SICK SICK SICK! BRUTAL BRUTAL BRUTAL! Punishing. Very.
Goatsblood - filthy, dirty, sludgy, crusty, painful. "Drull" was the best grind-doomish album of the year.

Etc...etc...etc... There are more, but those are the ones I've been recently loving.

Q: Is it weird that I listen to this <i>and</i> emo//indie//punk-ish stuff?

A: Ironic, certainly. Maybe because the lyrics in emo are relevant to your life and metal... rocks, though it isn't rock?
