the mystery of the universe is not something for us to know, it is more of an idea. the mystery is not a tangible item, but the thought that there is a mystery. if we think of the universe as an object rather then something ongoing and everlasting we learn that there are no mysteries, only ideas, waiting to be discovered. (you can use that if you want, if it is a psychology class or something they will love it, if it is science class you might get like a c.)

philosephy will eat it up then. philosephy teachers love the wrap around bullshit like that. the whole idea of something everyone thinks exists not existing is what they live for.

Haha yeah, I do like Philosophy but it seems really wishy-washy. Plus pretty much half the class are devout and completely close-minded Catholics who refuse to accept any other theory other than "God exists, don't question him." Ethics is really easy though. Actually they're probably my easiest subjects.

Fact: I AM JEALOUS!! I WANT A GTA5 TOO!! No FAIR!!
Gaaaaaaaaaah!

Well, at least I'm going to play AC3. I think that is good enough for me.. for now.

Another fact: Learning HTML when in computer class feels awesome~ Like I'm superior to them 'cause I'm learning codes... And then after that, I feel like an idiot after I think that they already know of it and I'm just there, learning it now..

As a side note, Philosophy is awesome and for people with great minds that are open for new ideas! We learned about the things before the French Revo and I like Rousseau. Saying "Humans are pure and society corrupts them." Well, half truth, half lie. People are messed up to begin with.

actually it is completely true, our natural instinct is not to hate people for their beliefs, or to laugh at others ignorance, but in a society we learn that these things are normal.

Well, if I look at it that way, yes. Erasing society would probably make ourselves "pure"r. 'Cause you know, society is full of bullshit nowadays... All with them twerking and sex and all them stupidity... criminals and stuff... or pretty much people doing the same stupid thing every stupid day... Well, I may be one of them but I think I am pretty decent... I really can't say much since I don't know people during the beginning of time... or where they began or something.

But weren't humans the one who created society and therefore society are humans which in turn is corrupt? As far as my knowledge goes, strong humans killed other strong humans in order to prove their worth... and win over women or something (honestly, why can't they just rape them or threaten them during those times?)... Like, people who are strong rule over the weak, the weak submits and then it all goes round and round?

And since weak people just don't want to be ruled over by the strong, they develop an eight-letter word called "justice" in order to be in equal levels to the strong... Majority wins over Minority... thus, they created society. Well, the cycle of "strong-rules-over-the-weak" is already a society itself...

... Um... Wait, I'm just going to google Society for a bit... to avoid my embarassment sooner or later.

humans didn't create society. many other species have their own "societies" those species, however, do not have the one thing that makes humans different then animals, and that is free will, or free thought, depending on who you ask. you see, all other animals on the planet live by natural law, if they are hungry they eat, if they are tired, they sleep, and if they are aroused, they have sex. these animals do not worry about tomorrow, or how they came to exist, or what is at the end of the universe, and that is what sets us apart from them. free will is an amazing gift, but it is warped by society, and that is what the person was trying to say in his quote. because one mans free will allows him to believe in something other men do not, that man runs the threat of being attacked for not believing someone elses thoughts. our free will allows us to question everything, and believe anything, but it can be turned into a prison for our minds when controlled by a smart enough person. the quote was less an attack on society, and more of a warning for the individual.

hoh!! Amazing~
I lost!

I guess it's time to stop my ranting about Rousseau's and my rejection of it.

I have another question, then. Are the seven sins (lust, greed, gluttony, sloth.. you know, FMA Brotherhood) a natural part of us or corrupted by them society?

the seven deadly sins are both a natural part of us and a corruption of society. it is in everyones nature to commit the deadly sins, lust and gluttony in particular, but it is society that has branded them as deadly. although it is more of a good point to society, as without the moral thought of these things being bad for us, we might have driven ourselves to extinction, as each of the deadly sins is more of a mechanism to fulfill our baser urges. men naturally lust for women, but lust becomes a sin when we kill for it, same goes for all the other sins. they are our most basic desires, and if kept unchecked by morality, they become vary deadly.

I am not even in school right now, I am just naturally good at understanding things. I guess you could call me a natural philosopher, it doesn't get me vary far in life, but atleast I am good at placing words in an order that can cause people to reevaluate their way of thinking. most of the smartest conversations I have ever had with intelligent people I pulled out of my ass.

oh oh... then... Holmes, since humans didn't create society, then is it different if I said that humans are composed of their own society so it means that they are corrupt?

Corruption implies that a change occurred due to an outside force. It is impossible to be corrupted by yourself.

There is an alternative viewpoint, but it really depends what you believe. Lots of people (namely Christians) believe that people are born corrupt due to Original/Ancestral sin, so it's genetic and therefore 'in our nature'. We are naturally sinners and that's where the idea of 'God always forgiving' comes from. Though the norms of our current society - and even past ones - may influence our actions and the way we think, humans are not perfect in any way to begin with. That would support your view on people being corrupted beforehand Nagi, but again it's only one idea Huge Grin Sorry if I sound like a religious nut - I try not to be.

let me put it a different way. when a baby is born into this world, from the vary first moment it takes in air, what is its sin? breathing? crying? the want for it's mothers comfort? no, a baby is born without sin. a child is born without a concept of sin, without morality, a child is as animelistic as a human gets, relying on it's mother and father to provide the natural needs, because a baby has no concept of wanting something that is uneeded, until they recieve their first uneccisary thing, most often a teddybear. the child does not naturally need the teddybear to survive, and at first it will only take the teddy bear out of curiosity. eventually, though, the child will cry if it doesn't have it's teddy, this can be seen as our first sin, a vary small one, but if we are talking christianity, it is a sin none the less. it represents our first taste of lust. the child wants the teddybear, it has no reason to have it, but it wants it. the child will cry and cry for the teddy, and when you give it the teddybear it will be happy, for no other reason then that the child got what it wanted. this is a metaphor, and can be rewritten in hundreds of different ways to create the same outcome, I used the baby and the teddybear to convey that sinners are created, not born, through society. although the bible used different phrasing for this same metaphor. the baby is eve, the teddybear is the apple, and the parent is the snake. although in my metaphor the parent was unaware of the fact that they caused their baby to commit a sin , whereas the snake knows exactly what it is doing. and there is no way to prevent someone from ever sinning unless you put them in a place where only natural thoughts can prosper, like the wolfmen, there are countless stories, some of them true, of babies being left in the wild and raised by wolves. these people, when reintroduced into society, feel lost, they are so used to relying on their base instinct that they don't understand things like cloths and television, it is not needed so they do not know why it exists.
