(this is arc 1 of a three arc story I am working on.)
Hello, My name is Alexander Grimm, My friends call me alex, although they aren't your normal, average, everyday friends, but we will get to that later. as you have probably guessed, as most people have by now, I am a descendant of the Brothers Grimm. You know the Brothers Grimm, they wrote children fiction, all the famous fairytales, snow white, little red riding hood, Cinderella, it was all my great great great etc.etc. grandfather and uncle who wrote them. but the real stories, the originals where much darker then the ones we tell today, and the thing about dark stories is, they usually tend to be truer then happy ones.
Alex sat in the back of the bus looking out the window into the ran. the clouds overhead where dark and depressing. he sighed as he watched some kids get off the bus, and barley moved a muscle when the bus lurched forward again. a noise broke his attention from the window and back towards his seat. next to him was a small girl with a red hoodie on, her name was Carina Dinapoli, an italian exchange student who claimed to be related to the poet who wrote Dante's Inferno, Dante Alighieri. the noise he had heard was her snoring it suddenly grew louder.
"the girl is always sleeping, and the boy is always daydreaming." someone said in the seat up ahead. he turned around and smiled at Alex. "so, thinking up fairytales are you?" the boy said smiling.
"only as often as you falling through looking glasses." Alex says turning back to the window and not paying much attention to the boy. he was Micheal Edings, and if you haven't guess from the looking glass remark, he was also one of the few descendants of Alice liddell still alive today.
"how do you know I don't jump into wonderland everytime I get off this bus and run home? maybe I was born there. maybe my dads the mad hatter and my mom is the Cheshire cat?" Micheal Laughed.
"fat chance, the cat is a boy, but I forgot you don't read, so I guess I can't be so hard on your stupidity." Alex says, cracking a small smile. he always had been the smartest of the three friends.
"well then I guess my mothers the queen of hearts." he says "which explains why she is such a pain. hey, wanna hang out tonight?" Micheal asks lowering his voice to a hush.
"sure I guess, where?" Alex says, returning his attention to the rain outside. "Carina's treehouse?"
"no, that place is so small and no fun, all we do is sit around and stare at the wall. I was thinking we could grab some flashlights and explore the woods." Micheal says quitely.
"really? isn't that dangerous or something? aren't you scared? and what about carina?" Alex says.
"what about me?" she suddenly says. "just cause I'm a girl means I can't handle the woods at night?" she says angrily at Alex.
"no, thats...I didn't....it's just, are families, especially yours carina, have never been historically good with dark scary woods. I mean that is where Dante's Infermo practically starts, and it ends in hell, so..." Alex says worried.
"shove it alex, it's a book for crying out loud. it wasn't true, just a super long, super boring love poem." Carina says punching alex on the shoulder.
"yeah man, you act like are families LITERALLY went to wonderland and hell and...wherever the hell your ancesters went, practically everywhere, or nowhere since the books aren't about the brothers grimm." Micheal says.
"no, but according to the original book, which my family owns, they wrote each story after witnessing them with their own eyes." Alex says.
"shut up, they wrote that to scare the kids who read their books. there is no way they could have seen ALL those magical adventures, and yet no one else in the world has seen a single one." Carina says.
"except for Alice Liddell, Dante what-ever his last name is, Wendy darling and every other person who a magical story was written about." Alex says folding his arms.
"the key word here is story, so are you in or out?" Micheal asks as he leans in to get an answer.
"alright fine, I guess I am in, if only to make sure you two don't burn the whole forest down." Alex says begrudgingly.
