Fights!! Old Sun Mar 7, 2004 1:54:33 PM #6622 Perm Link
Lately in my school theres this kid thats been picking fights with my friends. This kid aint even strong and shit but he thinks hes like tough now cuz he goes to the gym. He challenged one of my friends to a fight and he agreed cuz those two have been at it for a long time. So after school basically everyone in the whole school met at some parking lot and watched the fight take place. The fight became indescive because they were both on top of each other and the cops were coming. But since my friend started to bleed a little this punk thinks he won. And then he challenged this sophmore to a fight the following week which was yesterday but he brings one of his friends along (the only one that he has) and makes him fight for him which made him a total pussy. I just know this kid is gonna get his ass kiked cuz i've heard a lot of my friends that they all want to fight him now, including me. And everyone in the school right now is urging me to fight him. So what do you all think i should do...? i mean i really hate this kid and theres nothing more i'd like to do then fight him.

Fight him, the worst that could happen is that you'll get suspended. If you don't do it, you'll regret it later, trust me.

If this is your first fight you'll probably get your ass kicked. Don't do it.

Especially if he makes you angry and you want to fight him. That's not smart at all.
The key to fighting is keeping your head straight. Once some one gets angry they blindly swing and kick and usually are only accurate half of the time. If you've got a clear head you can usually dodge the blows and make a few good placed punches. But trust me, if you're saying this kid makes you mad, and there is nothing you'd like to do better than fight him, then you're probably gonna end up on the ground on your back. Or you'll probably end up in one of those wrestling situations, on the ground. Either way, it's amateur fighting and it'll make you look like a pussy and an idiot. Especially if you don't know how to wrestle.

Oh dont worry thats not the issue. I have a black belt in ju-jitsu so i'm not at all worried about getting my ass kicked. In fact thats the reason my friends are telling me to fight him. I'm more worried bout the cops getting involved cuz i've gotten in trouble with them before and now i have a period of adjustment for a year meaning if i get in trouble with the cops one more time my life is fucked. But i also wanna fight this kid soo bad that i'm debating or not whether its worth the risk.

If you had a black belt in jujitsu you would realize that fighting him is completely moronic, so I have a little trouble believing you there.

You're already on diversion? Jesus, how old are you?

If you're seriously asking if fighting one kid is worth the risk of getting involved with the cops again, then my heart goes out to those millions of braincells that have died in your head.

Well the kid keeps on talking shit...and yes i am a black belt, no joke, and whats the point of learning martial arts for 6 years if i never use it, at least thats how i feel. He's trying to pick fights with all of my friends so i feel that i shouldnt just stand by and let him do it. But i prolly dont have to get involved now cuz i just found out this really big kid wants to get him and his friend. So i'll prolly just sit back with some popcorn and watch him get his ass kicked. The first thing they teach you in any type of martial arts is that the point is not only an exercise of your body, but your mind as well. If needed, it can be used for defense, however, the point of martial arts was never intended for provoking an attack, wehether you're capable of winning or not. Self control and discipline are needed to obtain what one would call a "black belt." You cannot, by any standard of martial arts, be considered a black belt if you seriously considered fighthing that kid.

Yea of course that is the ideal use of it. But face it, people who learned it also hopes to use it. Which is why most of my fellow members who joined are cops. Kinda ironic considering i'm scared that the cops would arrest me. But anyway those people i guess would use it for self defense and to put down victims but you should actually see my teacher. He always says you should use it for defense but then he would always tell us stories about the bar fights he's been in. And considering all the incidents he's been in its obvious to everyone he purposely gets himself into a fight. And what your talking bout mind and body. Ju-jitsu doesnt really stress that. It stresses quick reactions and movements. What your talking bout is more like Tai-Chi in which it focuses energy through slow movement of the body with breathing and with your mind really focused. But thats not really a martial art anymore, in China its practiced a lot as a normal exercise people do.

It's against the teaching of just about all forms of martial arts to use it for...erm..."evil". If you ware attacked, it's fine. But using the power you have to harm someone maliciously is wrong.Who cares if he's picking fights, ignore him. As a black belt, you really oughta know this. You're a bully if you attack someone, knowing full well that you can kick their ass beyond repair. You need to see them as a naive fool, no matter how annoying. I'd think you were taught to be above trivial things such as that.

And, frankly, you're an idiot for considering it, if one more brush with the police can get you in big trouble. It's not near worth it.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

You all have good points but the only reason i've considered it was cuz he tried to beat up my best friend. I am no where near a bully, i just felt that he needed to learn a lesson. But dont worry, I think this issue is done with cuz the guy is way in over his head now. Basically the whole school wants a piece of him and he even went to the principal today cuz he was scared. So i'm happy, at least he realizes now the mistake he got himself into.

The above statement is entirly inaccurate. I had taken ninjutsu for a reasonably long amount of time and it wasn't created as an offensive art. It was created by remote mountain farmers to stop the Samurai and their Warlords from taking the farmer's land and let me tell you something, when you're badly outnumbered, you would do anything you could to gain the upper hand including sneaking up on people but as I said, most "Ninjas" were farmers trying to protect and DEFEND their land. As for the modern practice of Ninjutsu, they don't advertise like karate of Ju-jitsu and don't host tournaments. You learn how to hurt your enemies and to come out alive, not to get a trophy. Also, there are only three belts [though there are 9 kyus (ranks) and 15 dans (blackbelt ranks) though no one can ever get 15th dan because no one is perfect.

I was obviously misinformed. Now I must go and strip that information from my Ninja notes, and replace them with these facts you've just provided me with. Then I need to go find some place where I can learn Ninjutsu.

Oh, and I knew about the whole farmers trying to protect their land thing.

EDIT: Sorry if I offended you, but like I said, I was misinformed.

There are only two or three places in my entire state that you can take it and like I said, they don't advertise. They do teach you how to defend yourself though. Everything from pressure points, to falling correctly and rolling. I still laugh when I watch different tournaments and see a fighter land on the floor with a *POW* and see him in pain, all the while thinking "You could have rolled or did a break fall and it would have hurt a lot less," lol.

You lucky, lucky person, you. I have this FASCINATION with Ninja. No, not the retarded prepubescent "NINJAAA!!!" kind of fascination, REAL fascination. I want to know their history, weapons, and of course, fighting style.

You see, there are martial arts dojos around where I live, but I refuse to work on a style which I have no desire to work on. So maybe when I'm 18 or something, I'll find some place that teaches Ninjutsu and live around that area.

Yea my teacher is soo strict on falling its insane, but he's right cuz when you fall, if you fall incorrectly you can injure yourself more from the fall then your opponent actually hitting you. And dont really get Ju-jitsu mixed with karate. Ju-jitsu teaches street fighting too, like you saying coming out of situations alive. Karate is more about successful punch and kick combinations. Thats the reason why i learned Ju-jitsu cuz its more useful in real life situations like getting out of a situation when a person is pointing a gun to ur head or chest. Although he obviously told us he doesnt recommend us doing these move if your ever in that situation unless you are highly confident in your abilities.

Unfourtunatly, I hurt my knee in a ninjutsu acident, and until I go through rehab (like in a million years when I have time for it lol), I can't participate. As for people in general, I have found most have many preconceptions about them that are entirly false. I will say this, in my opinion there is no other marital art worth taking besides ninjutsu. I have been to many different styles of martial arts but this is the only one that actually taught me anything useful. On a side note, any martial art with "do" such as ken[do] isn't worth taking. "Do" means "way of" and is usually meant to be a philosophy, not an actual effective way to defend yourself. look for jutsu, as in Nin[justu], or others if you must (such as ju[justu] etc.)"Jutsu" means "art of" and is more geared toward actual fighting and practical application for fighting techniques.

yea your prolly right cuz i can see a lot of similarities between ninjitsu and jujitsu like falling and about using techniques in real life situations. Unlike Karate which just teaches you how to punch and kick. But doesnt tell you what to do if there's a guy on top of you just punching your face or grabbing you from behind. Jujitsu and i'm guessing ninjitsu also has all kinds of varitions to get out of almost any kind of situation i can think of.

traditional ju-jitsu, if you want to get technical about it is a split off of a concentrated portion of ninjutsu. So you can see why there would be similarities, though it is just one aspect in the entire spectrum and has evolved in it's own right over the years...

If you ever get a chance (and can find a place), take a few classes of Ninjutsu. If you can make it through the boring begining, then it is all worth it. It is hard to find a place though, and if you get kicked out of one dojo, you won't be able to get enrolled in any other one in the United States and Japan. They keep a list and send it to every dojo to make sure people aren't abusing the training or becoming a threat to other students.

yea before me and my friends joined Ju-jitsu we actually wanted to do Ninjitsu, but there arent any in our area that teaches that form of martial arts. And yes the beginning is rather slow cuz everytime i see new members they're usually out of it really quick cuz they cant stand learning the basics which is falling for Ju-jitsu.

basic things like the breakfalls, rolls, the first weapon a hanbo (three foot staff), and the history of ninjutsu as well as basic japanese, proper diet, and so on. As to the second question, yes you could consider me a "Ninja" but I am still relativly a neophyte when it comes down to it. Like I said, a knee injury has prevented me from practicing for a while now (though I am still quite capable of defending myself).

Hanbo, those are pretty cool, considering it's basically a long piece of wood (I know a lot of Ninja weapons). Unfortunately, isn't it true that in the US, you can't handle a weapon in any form of martial arts until you're over the age of 25?

EDIT: That doesn't sound very boring to me.

Not where I'm at...We had a 10 year old kid practicing with a hanbo, as well as a bo (six foot staff). As far as bladed weapons go, you have to be over 18 to use them, but there are many alternatives to practice with (bokken, shinai, etc.).

Ooooh, okay, thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was a bit ridiculous that you could own a gun at 18, but couldn't use blades until 25. What about you? What weapons have you trained with?
