This whole service pack crap is going to be standard practice for Microsoft operating systems forever. My opinion is that if you need service packs, you need a new operating system.
It has become a standard practice for Microsoft to release service packs sooner or later to be released after an OS is launched. Thought other OS do make changes in their OS but that is mostly like updates and tools released which are add-ons. I don't think other OS's release updates to correct their flaws in the already launched OS.
I will probably get a copy of Vista when the first service pack releases. I am not sure if I will get it legally, or just download it, but I will be getting it soon.
Its not who a person is in the inside, but what he does that defines him.
I feel they may not be going to release Service Packs too soon. It will be very embarassing to do so. Most likely they will try to sort out the problems with the normal daily updates (without much fanfare) and later they will have a combined list of updates as a Service Pack
