I used to have a punk rock Hello Kitty pin that I thought was really cute...I lost it about 2 years ago though.
I think I've seen the goth one.
I always say it's a shame that kids today don't even know why they like Hello Kitty, they've never even seen the show! (Came on in the 80s or at least I watched it then)
I nev er saw the show, and I really never actually like Hello Kitty, but I would be interested in seing the "Goth" model, simply because I can't even imagine it!
What amazes me, and what people fail to see, is that behind every cutesy icon lies a board of old businessmen with an eye on the pile of green, and just how to make it grow. I have seen first hand how a group of these fatcats sit around and talk seriously about the desires of preteen girls, and how to get as much money out of them and their parents as possible.
Goth Hello Kitty..........this seems kind of creepy......what next-will the be a type of hello kitty to fit every genre and type??? Like Jock, Prep, or Geek???? That would be odd, but I guess I won't be surprised.....
But yeah Goth Kitty has been out for YEARS...I saw her when I was starting out in my embarrassing little punk phase back in 2004 (yeah I started late, missed out during the teen years). I considered myself too good to buy whatever product she was on...cause you know, in the social hierarchy punks > goths. haha
And yes, Target sells the Hello Kitty dvds for about $5 each. They're really not that bad. I expected them to be something really cheesy that I liked as a kid because I know cartoons today really suck...but no, it's actually pretty creative stuff. I knew I had good taste in my 80s shows. So now I am going to make a thread about 80s shows.
