Advise on DVD Software Mon Aug 9, 2004 5:04:18 PM#9606Perm Link
I just got my first DVD player for my TV. I have many jpgs, bmps, and a few movies, that is mpgs. How can I burn them to a cd and play them in my DVD player, so I can view them onn the TV? I'm guessing I need some type of software, hey. My DVD player tells me that it can read cd-r, rw, etc. When I burn them on the cd it doesn't read on the DVD player. Help and please let me know if I am in the wrong forum.........Thanks
For the pics and stuff you need a DVD player that's capable of doing a photo slide show. However if I'm not mistaken you can't burn an mpeg file straight to a data CD. I believe you have to make a VCD (video compact disc). I know Nero has some VCD tools in it but I never actualy got it to work. Also, make sure your DVD player is capable of playing VCD's. I believe that pretty much all DVD players will do pretty much everything including play MP3's, VCD, DVD, CD-RW etc... but I havent looked in a while so i dunno for sure. You might want to consult your DVD players manual. So to sum this up: Videos are burned on Video CD's, Pictures are burned onto either a data CD or a special picture CD from your photo developer. I hope this is helpful.

P.S. I never got the Nero to actualy burn the VCD, it just wasted 45 mins. of my time compressing the crap for nothing.
GSD is pretty much correct. But if you want something of a movie of sorts, you'd first want to take the pics and such and make a mpg out of them. XP has a built in movie maker package that can do it if you don't have another programs. Then use your buring program of choice and make a VCD.
