Losers weepers.
I fucking hate that philosophy. I left my thumb drive (in which I store EVERYTHING because I have a shitty old lap top that gets slow when bogged down with files) in a computer at my college (I wasn't paying attention to the time and had to rush out to catch my bus) and some asshole took it. So not only did I have to entirely rewrite an essay that was due the next afternoon but I essentially lost my entire computer.
The only time I've ever taken something that someone had left behind was when it had been there in excess of two weeks (and that is only if I worked at the place where it was lost). I'd like to kick the gutless terd who took that drive and erased those files in the nads.
Here's a list of some of the things that were on that drive that I didn't have backed up:
In excess of 300 pictures of my family and my vacation in Gualala.
3 folders full of poetry and creative writing, plus a novel that's been in the works for two years and a folder of related research in relation to this novel.
Three ripped discs that I do not have on hand.
Man that sucks to hear. I never taken anything like that, even if its been there for a while. If I find a flash drive, I turn it into the professor, that flash drive could mean the difference between someone passing and failing.
Its ok Sinistra hopefully it will turn itself up sometime soon. I had that happen to me once a while back. I used to store EVERYTHING on my ipod. One day I left it at Rutgers library still connected to the computer. I thought I lost it for good. It eventually turn up a few days later with a librarian. Have some hope.
As said before maybe it will turn up sooner or later,
maybe the "asshole" who took it still has a heart and sees the hard work you put into the thumb drive and his or her conscience threatens to annoy them to death and they have no choice but to return it. Till that time good luck with everything.
"Well, how do you know you're not a burrito fetishist if you've never tried doing the nasty with a burrito?"
I already asked the librarian and the student support center if anyone had turned it in. They said it was probably gone for good. Apparently last year there was this kid who they knew (but couldn't bust) was not just picking up lost ones but actually stealing thumb drives. If someone got up from their computer to pick something up at the printer by the time they got back their thumb drive was gone.
I do realize that it was my fault for forgetting it and putting all my eggs in one basket but it still sucks that someone didn't return it.
I agree. People dont realize how valuable things are to the person who owns them. Instead, they only value its price tag that they can put on it to sell to someone else. Or be a pervy sage and try to find dirty pictures. In any case I hope the asshole gets what he/she deserves.
Urgh. That creeps me out. It's not like I have anything really private on that drive but it kind of weirds me out to think that someone could possibly be looking through that stuff, checking out all my pictures, reading my stuff. Eew.
Not that it's very likely that that's happening. The jerk probably just erased everything and sold it. Cause if I ever saw that thumbdrive being used in the library again I'd immediately know it was mine because the one I have was a different brand that don't even sell in this town the little plastic thing at the top where you loop it to the necklace thing-y was broken. I would so slug that person in the face if I caught them using it.
