Video Conversion?

I am receiving errors on any type of video that i try to convert. (specifically mp4s for my ipod, but it happens for all videos to any type of format.)

It is not a specific error, but instead of converting the file it just gives me a small file (in the Kb Range) and that's it... What the shit?
Don't worry i tried more than one converter, and the same results.
Any ideas?

Have you tried ffmpeg?

Run it on the command line and see the output. Maybe you've got some bad hardware or codecs?

i re-installed all my codes and i got nothing still. cant figure out how to Mplayer... unless you want to give me the exact command for it.

This stared around when i installed Itunes which failed miserably by the way. appaerently extremely dislikes 64 bit xp.
ill see if the tech support people over there can help me out with that.

ffmpeg -i input.avi -f mov -b 1800 -maxrate 2500 -vcodec xvid -qscale 4 -s 320x240 -acodec aac -ab 128 output.mov

That's for FFmpeg... not MEncoder.

i was looking at the wrong thing than...
But anywaym here is whay i got...

The Xvid encoder error on the bottom obviously means i need XVid, but i dont know anything else.
