[Ubuntu/Linux] Need help changing root owned permissions!

Hey,

I need some help, and I'm not stupid enough not to admit it. I need to change permissions on a root-owned folder so I can move a Pidgin plug-in file to it (I want to share what I'm listening to in Rhythmbox with my contacts.). If anyone can tell me how to do so, I'd be gladly appreciative.

Who do want to change the owner too?

If you want it world writable...

sudo chmod -R 0777 /path/to/folder

If you want to change the owner/group...

sudo chown -R newuser:newgroup /path/to/folder
