Video Card (Radeon or Nvidia) Fri Mar 11, 2011 12:56:08 PM#150287Perm Link
I currently have an VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro PCi express video card installed, and as of a week I had some crashing issues which were related to the new Adobe update, and after a nighmare of a week installing uninstalling I finally got it to operate. I for some reason still had an issue where it would not send the video out to my TV. So after speaking with Tech support and going through there options which I did he figured it was software related, Since I could see my desktop and drag the video to my TV screen it just would no longer show it in overlay mode. So i took the long rode and reinstalled New OS (Windows 7 Ultimate) I finally was able to ypgrade to new drivers and Catalyst center version Only to have the same exact issue. So I am left to think that it is software still and the issue just isn't going to work and maybe switch to an invidia brand card. Or more than likely it's something hard ware that went wrong.
Any opinons on what you think might be wrong. and If you recomend an Invidia card which one? I only have stock Power supply in my Compter which I think is about 3-350watts so cant go crazy with video card. Also don't really want to spend more 1-150. I dont really do any gaming only reason I upgradede to this card few years ago is I download movies and I like to send the video out via HDMI to my TV.
Well if the issue could be fixed it would be Nice. Yes it was a clean install and Even when I had it on XP I used ccleaner, Revo uninstaller, and Driver cleaner to get all files of it out of registry. Also removed any folders asscociated with ATI and removed all C++, .Net framworks, Updated Bio's, and Chipsets.
Not sure of brand or name, It came stock in the System when purchased It was an HP A1640N, But the Motherboard, Proc has been upgraded. I would also maybe suspect power but it has worked for the last 3-4 years without Issue. And even works to a point now. When in Extended mode I can see my desktop background and I can even drag a video player on TV and watch, I can clone the desktop and everything will show on my TV, Only thing it wont do is send the video over in overlay (Theater Mode) any longer. It even stumped the Techs who are running test as they have not had this issue before. and It has now done it with both XP/Windows7. So I am skeptic it's still software but then again not sure, Most of it works just the not the overlay, maybe the card is die'n.
It's possible... The problems with stuff like this is that it is easier to fix when you have spare parts to swap out. Do you have a friend that can loan you parts to try?
2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
No I don't, thats why I am kinda at the road now where it looks like I am going to have to buy a New video card since I have tried everything software I could. My question is then do I stick with Radeon AMD and get a new card and hope it works and would determine if it's the card, or get it and determine that something with catalyst center is causing issue either way if the card doesn't work I could always switch to an Invidia Brand card and try that. But not too familiar with Invidia Brands/models other than What I looked/read about over at Newegg.
