The World's First Professional Studio Born Video Chatting Light Hits The Market
Chatlight to Enhance the Way People Look on Video Chat
DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today is the day that everyone will see each other in a new light with the launch of Chatlight®, an innovative product inspired to transform the way video chats are experienced. The mother company, Glowzi, founded by professional photographer Henry Geddes and innovator Ian Shiell, is pioneering an entirely new space in Social Lighting. Glowzi is launching a line of Social Lighting products starting with their 4 year project, Chatlight®, that will change the way people see themselves online.
Glowzi's game-changing lineup includes their marquee product Chatlight®: the professional studio born lighting device that combines balanced lighting in a simple, elegant sleek design. The universal setup allows users to enjoy better lighting on a laptop, smartphone or tablet.
"We believe that if you have the right kind of lighting that illuminates your face in an even tone, you can reduce shadows and thus wrinkles without blinding the user," said Henry Geddes, founder and CEO, Glowzi. "Chatlight® can provide users of video chat with a simple solution to look their best with balanced, flattering lighting."
In 2007, Geddes filed for the necessary intellectual property when he noticed extremely poor lighting while Skyping with his friends and family. "I saw a major flaw in video chat that could be easily corrected with correct lighting. Since 2007, laptop makers continue to build in better web cameras, but they continue to miss the most important element, good lighting."
Geddes' experience with lighting is quite impressive with a Who's Who list of clients including: Nike, Porsche, Neiman Marcus, Barneys, Calvin Klein, Warner Brothers, Macy's, Vogue, Elle and W. "I have spent the last 15 years of my life lighting up some of the world's largest companies. Now, I want to turn my efforts to lighting up the Internet through brighter video chats and selfies."
With over 2 billion people using video chat today, there is no shortage of consumers on the Internet that are in need of better lighting.
Chatlight's recent launch on Kickstarter is the first of many new lighting devices that Glowzi has in the works. Later this year, Glowzi says they have collaborated with a leading audio technology company and will be releasing Chatlight® V2 with built in audio. Glowzi has also hinted at another Social Lighting project with the recent acquisition of SelfieLight.com.

Schools in Singapore and the U.S. have led the process of implementing Stratasys' 3D printing curriculum. "The introductory material on 3D printing that Stratasys offers, from the slide presentations to the videos, were impressive," says Ms. Chee Feng Ping, a lecturer with the Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore. "The students enjoy the hands-on activities especially the design process with 3D printing."
Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston also uses Stratasys' 3D printing curriculum. "There are going to be many instructors out there who would love to teach a course in 3D printing but who simply do not have enough time to do the detailed research and to prepare professional level presentations," says Assistant Professor Steve Chomyszak. "Stratasys has now made it much easier for any instructor to offer a college level course on the subject."

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Home cooks in need of an extra pair of hands in the kitchen should consider the latest countertop appliance from KitchenAid: a four quart Multi-Cooker offering 10 cooking functions, step-by-step cooking modes and a stirring accessory that allows for assisted cooking at precise temperatures.
"The Multi-Cooker adds a modern twist to the traditional slow cooker, with updated cooking settings ranging from steam to sear, and a stir tower that lets cooks step away and multi-task in the kitchen," says Beth Robinson, Senior Brand Experience Manager for KitchenAid.
The 3-speed stir tower accessory mixes, flips and stirs ingredients to keep them consistently incorporated and evenly heated. Once attached to the Multi-Cooker, its stir settings can be adjusted with a speed selector dial to handle everything from flipping meat balls to stirring a heavy stew. The new flipping paddle combined with a flex edge scraping blade stirs and scrapes around the cooking vessel to keep foods like batters and sauces from sticking to the sides.
Pre-programmed settings for rice, risotto, soup and yogurt provide cooks with next step instructions to help deliver perfectly cooked results. As cooks move through each step, the Multi-Cooker adjusts and displays temperatures and timing accordingly.
"The pre-programmed settings help take the guesswork out of notoriously time and temperature sensitive dishes, resulting in less time fussing and more time for other things," adds Robinson.
Additional cooking modes include simmering, sauteing, searing, steaming and two slow cook options, all of which can be programmed for up to 12 hours of cooking, and the Keep Warm function can be programmed for up to 24 hours. The Multi-Cooker automatically sets the temperature for each setting, and the brand's Even-Heat(TM) technology allows for precise temperature regulation between 110 degrees - 450 degrees F to prevent under or over cooking. When using the manual mode, the Multi-Cooker functions like a regular stovetop with temperature settings at low, medium and high.
The Multi-Cooker comes with a dual purpose cooking rack for foods that require steaming or roasting, and the glass lid allows cooks to easily strain and pour liquids directly from the cooking vessel, keeping solid foods separated from liquids. The lid, cooking vessel, silicone flexible edge blade and stirring paddle are all dishwasher safe. The cooking vessel features a nonstick CeramaShield(TM) coating that is 100% PTFE and PFOA free.
The Multi-Cooker is available this month at Williams-Sonoma.com in Candy Apple and Stainless Steel, and will be available at KitchenAid.com in August in the same colors, and also in Onyx Black. The suggested retail prices are $349.99 for the Multi-Cooker, $229.99 for the Stir Tower accessory and $549.99 for the Multi-Cooker and Stir Tower combined.
Since the introduction of its legendary stand mixer in 1919 and first dishwasher in 1949, KitchenAid has built on the legacy of these icons to create a complete line of products designed for cooks. Today, the KitchenAid brand offers virtually every essential for the well-equipped kitchen with a collection that includes everything from countertop appliances to cookware, ranges to refrigerators, and whisks to wine cellars. Cook for the Cure®, the brand's partnership with Susan G. Komen®, is now in its 14(th) year and has raised over $10 million to help find a cure for breast cancer. DVB-SI provides RDK-based devices with critical, in-band table of contents and data required for Electronic Program Guides (EPGs) and other key services.
Notably, in-band DVB-SI provides a high degree of data reliability for TV service providers that operate one way networks, or that are in the process of transitioning to two way networks, a common situation across Europe and other global regions. Specifically, ARRIS's new contributions extend the RDK Media Framework (RMF) to support a common method for extracting DVB streams, and also provide an open source reference DVB implementation that can be adopted and extended by DVB-based operators and suppliers. This new RDK capability adds to previously supported DVB components such as teletext and subtitles released last year.
"Given the RDK's global reach and appeal, it was imperative to deliver DVB-SI functionality to support legacy networks," said Steve Heeb, President and General Manager of RDK Management, LLC. "Thanks to a dedicated working group led by ARRIS and Liberty Global, operators in Europe and other parts of the world can more easily adopt the RDK across their markets."
"ARRIS is fully committed to the success and adoption of the RDK in Europe, and around the world," said Larry Robinson, President, Customer Premises Equipment at ARRIS. "We're very proud to have helped drive the process and development of a DVB-SI solution that will have widespread applicability to our customers, prospects, and the broader RDK community."
The RDK was created to accelerate the deployment of next-gen video products and services. The RDK provides a common interface to SoCs, acting like a "universal SoC adapter," which enables the operator to focus and innovate at the revenue-generating services layer. To date, the RDK has been licensed by more than 20 operators globally, but its reach is far broader. Operators can either license the software directly, or receive the software through a third party, such as a set-top box supplier, system integrator, or software vendor. The RDK now has more than 200 licensees including, CE manufacturers, SoC vendors, software developers, system integrators, and TV service providers.
The RDK is administered by the RDK Management, LLC, a joint venture between Comcast Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Liberty Global. The RDK software is available at no cost to RDK licensees in a shared source manner, and RDK community member companies can contribute software changes and enhancements to the RDK stack.

Raytheon team tests new global capability to help improve U.S. Army readiness
DULLES, Va., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) and its partner team along with the U.S. Army are testing a new training instrumentation system that helps enable and improve home station training by blending live, virtual and constructive training domains across widely dispersed geographic locations.
This new capability, called the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability Instrumentation System (JPMRC - IS), consists of an integrated system of deployable shelters, communications hardware and software that is used to train Army units based on a high fidelity exercise against a thinking opponent.
"This new system gives us opportunities to maintain readiness in ways that provide great flexibility while maximizing scarce training resources," said Bob Williams, Raytheon Global Training Solutions vice president. "We recently completed a rehearsal with the JPMRC-IS involving more than 400 Soldiers across several Hawaiian islands, and it felt and worked exactly like a full rotation at one of our Combat Training Centers."
The JPMRC - IS can be easily transported, is capable of continuous, 24-hour a day operation for weeks at a time, and can extend the training battlespace across physical boundaries by linking units, sites and trainers in real time. The instrumentation system collects and stores specific, scenario-focused information on performance, then aids the exercise controllers in monitoring the exercise, analyzing the performance data, and preparing and presenting detailed performance feedback to the exercise units. The exercise participants obtain direct feedback on how they executed their missions, and lessons learned on how to improve performance.
Raytheon will test the JPMRC - IS this month during a multi-unit exercise in Hawaii called Lightning Forge. This Initial Operating Capability event will demonstrate the ability to perform distributed operations as part of a two-battalion exercise on Oahu and the island of Hawaii.
Raytheon leads the Warrior Training Alliance (WTA), a team of more than 150 partner companies that provides training support to the U.S. Army around the world on the Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support (FOCUS) contract. Through Warfighter FOCUS, Raytheon and the WTA have helped save the U.S. Army more than $300 million in maintaining more than 240,000 training aids, devices and simulators. The WTA also helps train U.S. Army soldiers, allied and coalition partners around the world. Click here to learn more about the Raytheon-led Warfighter FOCUS program.

First companion device to HyperFlash(TM) memory operating on the same HyperBus(TM) Interface simplifies board design and increases system performance
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Spansion Inc. (NYSE: CODE), a global leader in embedded systems solutions, today announced the first RAM device with the HyperBus(TM) interface. The Spansion HyperRAM(TM) memory, a companion to HyperFlash(TM) memory, enables a simple and cost-effective solution for SoCs and microcontrollers (MCU), where both the flash and RAM are connected on the same 12-pin HyperBus interface. With a read throughput up to 333 megabytes-per-second, the HyperBus devices enable fast boot, graphics display and real-time XIP applications.
"Momentum continues to build for our HyperBus interface with many chipset suppliers adopting this high-performance solution. The addition of HyperRAM memory is a natural step in the evolution of the HyperBus interface and a perfect companion device to HyperFlash memory," said Jackson Huang, vice president of product marketing and ecosystem at Spansion. "HyperRAM memory is ideal for SoCs with limited RAM and provides a scalable solution for extending fast read and write operations externally, allowing fast delivery of high-resolution graphics in the early part of the boot process for automotive, industrial and IoT applications. It also minimizes the number of pins that would normally be required to support standard DRAM, resulting in reduced PCB complexity and cost."
Spansion HyperRAM memory can operate at frequencies as fast as 166MHz in DDR mode with a fast, random initial access time of 36ns. Faster read access means less compressed, higher resolution graphics can be read, resulting in a sharper display. The combination of HyperFlash and HyperRAM enables simpler board designs and software development, thus enabling faster time to market. Applications which can take advantage of these benefits include automotive instrument clusters, infotainment, navigation systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), digital cameras, projectors, factory automation, medical equipment, home automation and appliances, hand-held and other IOT devices.
Availability
Spansion 64Mb HyperRAM will be sampling in the second quarter of 2015. It will be available in both 3V and 1.8V versions packaged in the market compatible 5x5 array BGA.
About Spansion HyperFlash(TM) Memory
Spansion HyperFlash memory family will offer 3V and 1.8V power-supply versions and initially include three densities: 128Mb, 256Mb and 512Mb, with 512Mb samples available now. HyperFlash memories will be available in a space-saving 8x6mm ball grid array (BGA) package. Spansion HyperFlash memory devices provide a migration path--from one Quad SPI to two Quad SPI to HyperFlash memory--allowing system applications to be scaled to different levels of flash performance when paired with compatible controllers, giving OEMs the ability to offer different product models with a single design.
About Spansion HyperBus(TM) Interface
The efficient 12-pin Spansion HyperBus interface consists of an 8-pin address/data bus, a differential clock (2 signals), one chip select and a read data strobe for the controller, reducing the overall cost of the system. Memories based on the interface enable faster systems with quicker response times and rich user experiences. The Spansion HyperBus interface enables a wide range of high-performance applications, such as automotive instrument clusters, infotainment / navigation systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), hand-held displays, digital cameras, projectors, factory automation, medical diagnostic equipment, and home automation and appliances. Processors which have been publically announced to support the HyperBus interface include the Freescale MAC57D5xx Automotive DIS MCU, the Spansion FM4 S6E2DH general purpose MCU and the Spansion Traveo(TM) S6J324C and S6J326C automotive MCUs. Spansion is working closely with many processor companies and more MCU/SoC support is expected.

The Spanish company Kustom launches onto the market a top-of-the-range terminal which
brings together in one device: design, handicraft, leading-edge technology and fine
jewellery. It is made to order, with every detail customized to the image and likeness of
the customer. It is called EGO.
The EGO constitutes the individual who is aware of their own identity and their
relationship with the surroundings. Its definition has been linked to other terms such as
psyche, being, self-esteem and even soul. The ego is born with us when we come to the
world, when as children and with love and care, we feel that we are good, valuable, unique
and that we are important.
With this same care and this caress, Kustom EGO is born, true to its origins and
willing to mark a big difference between technology and creativity, on the thin line which
divides art from design.
Designed from a titanium alloy chassis, it has a ring which its privileged customers
will be able to customize, selecting the precious materials which they prefer such as
gold, silver or gemstones; they can even complete it with a specific text or message.
Handmade by Spanish masters of the trade, it offers an exclusive, delicious ringtone,
created and inspired by the brand. Each telephone comes with a guarantee certificate where
your personal serial number is indicated. You can acquire one by visiting http://www.kustommobile.com and the price starts at EUR8,977.
More than design, sublimation
"Beyond the form, we create lasting products which stand the test of time and which
transmit sensibility, strength, character, beauty and purity." Emilio Tarraga, designer
and associate of Kustom Ego.
Kustom Ego is the result of a very singular concept of mimesis taken into the
technology field which represents with its sinuous organic forms not only elegance but
also spirit and soul.
"The beauty of desert scenery, the sinuous dunes moulded by the elements over time,
dynamic and at the same time eternal, are the sources which have inspired our terminal.
Ego takes us to our roots with art and through handicraft, to faraway lands where beauty
and the soul of their culture still live on among us," declares Tarraga.
Leading-edge technology
The Kustom Ego software stands out for its precision, design, usability, for the
protected and encrypted information and a Kustom ID user's account in order to centralize
your identification. As its name indicates, it is a unique and unrepeatable identifier
which allows for a conversation window between Kustom and the customer where they will
receive all of the system's updates, new images and sounds and even new exclusive services
which the brand is constantly working on. The idea is to create a window between the user
and a select world of contents with exclusive services only for the lucky owners of an
EGO.
Kustom Mobile has developed a layer of customization on the Google system Android. The
smartphone has the 4.4.4 version of the Android operating system reinforced with a
security system.
Furthermore, the company bets on the latest advances in technology and works with
partners such as Swiftkey in order to offer the best writing experience with EGO and are
permanently in contact with application creators in order to add them to its portfolio.
The telephone is equipped with a 5" screen, a Snapdragon processor, 2GB of Ram and
LTE/4G connectivity

Toshiba Expands Lineup Of ARM Cortex-M0-Based Microcontrollers For Multifunction Peripherals And Printers
With more communication and timer-function channels, MCUs help optimize system design
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced the latest addition to its TX00 series of microcontrollers (MCUs) built around the ARM(®) Cortex(®)-M0 processor. The new TMPM036FWFG is specifically designed for use in multifunction peripheral (MFP) devices and printers. As the Cortex-M0 is the smallest available ARM processor [1], the TX00 series MCUs are well suited for use in these and other end products in which both small footprint and low power consumption are essential.
"Developers require MCU 'brains' with high functionality that can cost-effectively deliver 32-bit performance and ultra-low component count," said Deepak Mithani, senior director, Mixed-Signal Business Unit, System LSI Group at TAEC. "This new addition to the Toshiba TX00 series - part of our robust line of microcontroller offerings - broadens the options available to our customers developing new generations of MFPs and printers that demand higher functionality options in the same small, low-power device."
In MFP and printer applications, the microcontroller must communicate with the main control unit and onboard peripherals units. It also needs a timer function that can output pulses to control stepping motors and DC motors. An increase in the number of channels for both functions is key to developing more fully featured MFPs and printers.
The TMPM036FWFG offers two more communication and four more timer function channels than Toshiba's current product offering in this family. The TMPM036FWFG incorporates an 8-channel communication interface and a 14-channel 16-bit timer. Developers can select the optimum microcontroller from the product family according to the system scale or usage from these two products.
The TMPM036FWFG's ARM-Cortex-M0 processor allows use of the same development environment system as for Toshiba's current ARM Cortex-M-based TX03/TX04 series. This can improve the cost-efficiency of system development and enable the device to be designed into other appropriate end products such as consumer electronics and digital and industrial equipment.
Housed in a 14mm x 14mm LQFP100-pin package, the TMPM036FWFG features a maximum operating frequency of 20 MHz, a built-in 8-channel communication interface (6-channel SIO/UART; 2-channel I(2)C), and a built-in 14-channel 16-bit timer. Operating voltage ranges from 2.3 to 3.6V, and available internal memory is 128Kybtes of Flash and 16 Kbytes of SRAM.
Availability
Sample shipments of the new TMPM036FWFG microcontroller will commence in March 2015.

is a landmark first in the industry."
"The virtualization of mobile network functions provides flexibility and agility, but
without predictability and visibility networks can quickly become very chaotic and impact
the user experience," stated Ross Cassan, Director of Marketing - Mobile Infrastructure of
Spirent. "Spirent Landslide(TM) enables the constant validation of the impact that changes
in user behaviour have on the network, and that changes in the network have on the user
experience. The demonstration provides a best-practice example of the predictability and
visibility toolset needed to trust key services like VoLTE to virtual elements."
Key features of this ground-breaking proof of concept include:
- Spirent Landslide(TM) provides the comprehensive Mobile Packet Core (MPC)
network test environment, emulating real-world control and data traffic load through a
virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC), and calculating response times, throughput and
real-time POLQA voice quality measurements.
- Cortx Service Orchestrator ingests these metrics, and performs big data
correlation and analytics. Using intuitive search capabilities, operations personnel
can quickly access the relevant data, analyze the voice quality performance in the
context of the service topology, and drill down into details as needed.
- In the event of degraded performance due to severe VoLTE traffic load, the
user is able to sectionalize the issues between the physical and virtual domains, and
take corrective action which could involve dynamically scaling the vEPC functions.
CENX provides Service Orchestration solutions that automate the entire lifecycle of
advanced data services in software-defined networks. We harness the power of big data,
distributed virtualized computing and real-time analytics to dynamically orchestrate and
assure services across multiple network technologies and providers. CENX solutions are
deployed by service providers worldwide to create new revenue streams, gain service
agility, reduce operational costs, and deliver quality-assured data services. http://www.cenx.com

JumpStart® Brings Back Childhood Classic & Launches Math Blaster Game on Facebook
25 Year-Old Game Goes from Floppy Disk to Facebook For Players New & Old to Relive the Fun
TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- JumpStart®, the leader in learning-based games for kids, today announced that it has launched its Math Blaster game on Facebook, bringing back a 25-year-old childhood classic. Over the years, Math Blaster has transitioned from floppy disc to CD-ROM to become a massively multiplayer online world that's now available for free on Facebook and at MathBlaster.com. The new Math Blaster features exciting updates like improved graphics, MMO capabilities, and tons of fun mini games. A learning tool in classrooms across the country since the late 1990's, Math Blaster is one of JumpStart's most recognized titles - and one that JumpStart plans to continue to expand across new and exciting platforms for players as it taps into the power of nostalgia for the beloved game.
"So many people - particularly those in their late teens and early 20's - have fond memories of Math Blaster from their computer lab days back in elementary school," said David Lord, CEO of JumpStart. "We're extremely excited to be reintroducing the game on a platform that's so convenient for those who loved playing it as a kid. We hope these users will enjoy the sharp new graphics, mini games, and other improvements we've made - and will want to share a piece of their childhood with a new generation."
Math Blaster is currently the only comprehensive, 3D online world for kids that incorporates math-based education - taking learning outside of the classroom and into outer space! Once players are logged in and on board the Math Blaster spaceship, they are able to create their own avatar, raise in-game pets (called Monster Mutts), and compete in mini games that range in difficulty. Within the mini games, players work to save the galaxy by sharpening their math skills, including addition and subtraction, fraction simplification, and long-form mathematics. The game does provide several in-app purchase opportunities, as well as membership enrollment to unlock even more learning and adventure - and to really relive the 90's.
JumpStart® is the leader in learning-based games for kids. The reality is that kids today seek entertainment through gaming, yet the vast majority of kids' games do absolutely nothing to inspire their minds through learning. JumpStart changes that paradigm and brings a learning edge through epically fun gameplay. Because of the company's long history of excellence in providing learning-based products parents and families trust, world-renowned brands such as DreamWorks Animation partner with JumpStart to develop various educational mobile and web-based games. To date, the company has released several critically-acclaimed titles, including Madagascar Preschool Surf N' Slide(TM) and School of Dragons®, the ever-popular educational massively multiplayer online role-playing game. A subsidiary of Knowledge Holdings, Inc., the company is privately held and based in Torrance, CA. DoubleDutch Launches New Analytics Platform to Shape Event Performance in Real Time
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Â This Wednesday, DoubleDutch <http://www.doubledutch.me/> launched "Event Performance", the first-of-its kind analytics platform that marketers and organizers can use to produce more effective, strategic events. Event Performance helps organizers monitor content and engagement metrics as the event happens by surfacing the data generated from the DoubleDutch-powered mobile app.
"Event Performance is the culmination of a much broader vision," said Lucian Beebe, VP of Product. "All along, we were building an app that was architected from the ground up to give organizers the data they need to transform the way they run events. Most analytics reports generated by app engagement can provide post-event data. We seek to also provide visibility into event performance on the day of the event, so organizers are not in the dark. Event Performance paired with our mobile application is the only way to obtain the real-time data they need to make their events even better."
Event professionals can proactively listen to the data that the app generates, and take action to improve app adoption, attendee engagement, and overall sentiment, before it's too late. Organizers can proactively monitor how many attendees have logged into the app and send additional reminder emails to encourage app adoption. Once attendees are in the app, organizers can track content trends and which sessions can anticipate the most traffic. Recommendations encourage organizers to use push messages to promote less popular sessions and boost attendance.
In-app user generated content is consolidated and sorted into "Top Status Updates" which shows the most popular conversations in the activity feed. This will change throughout the day based on trending issues and helps organizers understand what matters most to their audience, providing valuable insights for future events.
As the event progresses, organizers are able to keep track of attendee satisfaction with a built-in sentiment analysis tool, and the Engagement Score indicates how many attendees are interacting with the app throughout the event. To help keep your score up, Event Performance provides recommendations on how to up engagement while the event is still happening.
Event Performance by DoubleDutch empowers marketers and event professionals to run high-performance, data-driven events. For the first time, they can see how their event is going as it happens, develop deeper connections with their customers, and learn valuable lessons for future events.
About DoubleDutch:DoubleDutch <http://www.doubledutch.me/> is an award-winning provider of mobile event applications, with a unique focus on capturing and surfacing data from live events. The first to bring a data-driven technology approach to the event industry, DoubleDutch customers include Cisco, UBM, Lowe's, PwC, Novartis, andEstee Lauder, and more. OmniVision and Almalence Raise the Bar for High Quality Imaging on Mobile Devices
Combining High Performance Image Sensors and Advanced Computational Imaging Offers Enhanced User Experience
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced that it is collaborating with Almalence to bring DSC-like performance to mobile applications. The coupling of OmniVision's OV10823 and PureCel(TM) OV13850 image sensors with Almalence's computational imaging algorithms allows for the capturing of high resolution images or videos in low-light conditions.
"Almalence's computational algorithms carry the potential to help OmniVision redefine the user experience by bringing dramatically enhanced video and imaging to next-generation mobile devices," said Tehzeeb Gunja, senior partnership and business development manager at OmniVision. "When using Almalence's algorithms, our high performance OV13850 PureCel image sensor can enable high quality video recording in full resolution at 30 frames per second for zero shutter lag, and also can support high frame rate 1080p HD video at 60 frames per second with electronic image stabilization."
OmniVision and Almalence are combining their efforts not only with respect to the OV13850 image sensor, but also with the 1/2.6-inch OV10823 image sensor. The OV10823 is built on OmniVision's 1.4-micron OmniBSI-2(TM) pixel architecture, which can provide the capability to capture crisp 720p high definition (HD) video at 30 frames per second (FPS). Its performance is augmented by Almalence's low-light enhancement technology, which can enable exceptional 10dB reduction in noise without washing out desirable image details. Cameras using super resolution can experience a 1.5 to 2x effective resolution increase, resulting in extremely sharp, crisp images and video. Almalence's super resolution and low-light enhancement technologies are pure software solutions.
