Bose Introduces SoundLink® Color Bluetooth® Speaker and SoundLink® On-ear Bluetooth® Headphones
DUBAI, UAE, September 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Iconic SoundLink(R)Line Expands With New Products, New Design, New
Functionality
Today, Bose announces two additions to the SoundLink(R) line of mobile audio
solutions: the SoundLink(R) Color Bluetooth(R) speaker, the most affordable SoundLink(R)
speaker from Bose, and the SoundLink(R) Bluetooth(R) on-ear headphones. Both combine
renowned Bose performance with new functionality and style.
The SoundLink(R) Color Bluetooth(R) speaker is a completely new SoundLink(R) design.
It weighs just 0.5 Kg, and measures 12.7 cms wide, 5.3 cms deep and 13.4 cms high to fit
easily into any handbag. Bose combined exclusive dual-opposing passive radiators with two
high-efficiency transducers for full-range sound, including deep, low-note performance.
With its size and performance, the SoundLink(R) Color speaker is a small wonder, making
out-loud listening undeniably portable, powerful and fun.
The SoundLink(R) Color Bluetooth(R) speaker connects wirelessly to a smartphone,
tablet or other Bluetooth enabled device, and uses voice prompts for setup and tell which
source is connected. The SoundLink(R) Color speaker remembers the last eight devices
paired. It then automatically connects to the two most recently used Bluetooth enabled
device when switched on. You can switch between the two seamlessly. Essential controls are
on the product; the additional 3.5mm stereo auxiliary input provides added versatility.
The lithium-ion battery once fully charged, lasts up to eight hours of unplugged play
time, it fully recharges with most USB power sources in as little as three hours. Its
exhaustively tested housing is made of elastomer and plastic and comes in Black, White,
Blue, Red and Mint.
SoundLink(R) On-Ear Bluetooth(R) Headphones
The new SoundLink(R) on-ear Bluetooth(R) headphones deliver a new level of performance
for Bluetooth headphones. They feature crisp, powerful sound, new features, and a design
that's lighter and more comfortable than conventional Bluetooth headphones.
Bose Active Equalization and TriPort(R) technology combine for smoother, more balanced
sound. Mid-high frequencies are natural, and low-frequencies are detailed and full. Take
calls, or enjoy a video, movie or music - without the hassle of wires
The SoundLink(R) on-ear Bluetooth(R) headphones let you hear and be heard, wherever
you are.
A new two-microphone system rejects distractions like wind, so callers can hear what
you're saying more, and the sounds around you less. Adaptive Audio Adjustment technology
automatically changes volume based on speech level and ambient noise, letting you move
from a quiet building to a busy street without missing a word.
The SoundLink(R) on-ear Bluetooth(R) headphones connect up to two devices at a time
and let you switch between each, so you can watch a video from your tablet while staying
connected to your smartphone. Simple voice prompts identify who is calling, battery status
and source connection. With commands on the earcup, you're in control without using your
phone.
The SoundLink(R) on-ear Bluetooth(R) headphones use rugged, impact-resistant
materials, glass-filled nylon, and non-corrosive stainless steel - yet they weigh only 156
grams. Designed to be worn for hours, they feature soft ear cushions and a headband pad
made of fabric used in high-end automotive applications. They fold smoothly for compact
storage in a matching case. The SoundLink(R) Bluetooth(R) headphones come in black or
white, and charge easily with an included USB cable for up to 15 hours of listening, or up
to two hours after a mere 15-minute charge.

Tech Devices in 2015: Emerging Markets Dominate Growth, Increasing by $10b
NUREMBERG, Germany, September 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Global market research agency, GfK, has released part of its 2015 forecasts for sales
of technology devices, showing that the stable global forecast hides multi-billion dollar
changes at country level.
GfK's technology device forecasts cover 70 different digital device types globally and
indicate that the overall market in 2015 will remain at one trillion USD, just as it has
been since 2011. However, the 10 largest growth markets will increase by over $10b alone
and be dominated by emerging markets. India provides by far the greatest opportunity,
primarily driven by sales of smartphones, where both volume and pricing will contribute to
an overall technology device growth of nearly five billion US dollars in 2015.
As expected, the global feature phone market continues to decline rapidly, with GfK's
forecasts showing sales by volume dropping 20 percent and sales by value dropping 30
percent. However, feature phone vendors in emerging APAC countries and the Middle East &
Africa can be slightly happier, with forecasted markets size of 5.1 billion USD and 4.3
billion USD respectively.
Kevin Walsh, Forecasting Director at GfK, comments, "The size of the feature phone
market in emerging APAC countries, the middle east and Africa also provides opportunities
for the low end smartphone makers, as we are seeing clear evidence of consumers willing to
accept a price jump, when they upgrade from a feature phone to their first smart phone."
Smartphone markets
GfK's forecasts show that, worldwide, the smartphone continues to grow strongly, in
terms of volume of sales, increasing by 18% for 2015. But there is significant shift in
which countries will see those growth opportunities, with the emerging markets dominating.
Walsh explains, "Our forecasts show seven new entries in the top 10 smartphone markets
for 2015, in terms of growth by value - and these are all emerging markets, which have
overtaken developed markets where smartphone saturation is nearing completion."

TSMC and ARM set new Benchmarks for Performance and Power Efficiency with First Announced FinFET Silicon with 64-bit ARM big.LITTLE Technology
Companies detail results Sept. 30 at TSMC OIP Ecosystem Forum, San Jose, Calif.
HSINCHU, Taiwan and CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TSMC (NYSE: TSM) and ARM® today announced the results from a key FinFET silicon validation of the ARM big.LITTLE(TM )implementation, using ARM Cortex®-A57 and Cortex-A53 processors on TSMC's advanced 16nm FinFET (16FF) process technology.
Silicon results on 16FF show the "big" Cortex-A57 processor achieving 2.3GHz for sustained mobile peak performance, as well as the "LITTLE" Cortex-A53 processor consuming only 75mW for most common workloads. The performance improvements are a result of the collaboration between ARM and TSMC to jointly optimize the 64-bit ARMv8-A processor series on FinFET process technologies and build on the successful tape-out of the Cortex-A57 processor on TSMC's 16FF process last year.
Ongoing collaborative efforts are focused on TSMC's 16FF+ process technology which will deliver an additional 11% gain in performance for the Cortex-A57 at the same power as the 16FF process, along with a further 35% power reduction for the Cortex-A53 when running low-intensity applications. This further increases the dynamic performance range and power savings for big.LITTLE platforms. 16FF+ is scheduled to be delivered by Q4 2014. Early big.LITTLE implementations of Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A53 processors on 16FF+ are supported by ARM POP(TM) IP technology.
"This silicon proof point with ARM Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A53 processors demonstrates the additional benefits in performance and power efficiency that 16nm FinFET technology delivers to big.LITTLE implementations," said Pete Hutton, executive vice president and president, product groups, ARM. "The joint effort of ARM, TSMC, and TSMC's OIP design ecosystem partners will transform end-user experiences across the next generation of consumer devices and enterprise infrastructure."
"Our long-term collaboration with ARM continues to push advanced technologies that enable market-leading SoCs for mobile, server, and enterprise infrastructure applications worldwide," said Dr. Cliff Hou, vice president, R&D, TSMC. "TSMC is proud to be the first foundry to validate the ARM big.LITTLE implementation on FinFET, and this achievement demonstrates in silicon the real-world capabilities of next-generation ARMv8 processors on TSMC's advanced FinFET technology."
ARM and TSMC will be presenting detailed results of this collaboration at TSMC's OIP Ecosystem Forum at the San Jose Convention Center on Sept. 30, 2014; and ARM TechCon at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Oct. 2, 2014.

LONDON, September 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Centre will foster collaboration between greatest academic and business
minds in digital - helping showcase and develop new ideas to help the UK realise the
potential of data in the economy
The Digital Catapult Centre [https://cde.catapult.org.uk/ideas-innovation-centre ], a
national centre to rapidly advance the UK's best digital ideas, will open its doors on
November 5th. The Centre will be the cornerstone of the Connected Digital Economy Catapult
[https://cde.catapult.org.uk/ideas-innovation-centre ] and the many new collaborations it
convenes between business, universities and other digital stakeholders. The goal is to
unlock four major challenges in the data value chain
[https://cde.catapult.org.uk/data-value-chain ], helping small data innovators accelerate
new ideas to market.
Located in Kings Cross, the heart of London's knowledge quarter, the Centre will
provide entrepreneurs, SMEs, researchers and corporate organisations with a space to meet
and collaborate on development projects. The focus is to address the following challenges
faced by many data innovators: creating trust in the use of personal data, the Internet of
Things - linking data innovators to next generation connectivity, building diverse data
and content sets and the re-use of creative content - first reducing licensing friction.
The Centre launch will be followed by a series of launch events and a first wave of
regional hubs across the country.
"When trying to address major challenges, for example the Internet of Things in
healthcare, businesses reach a point where they need help to cross some 'chasms' on the
way to bringing their products or services to market," explained Neil Crockett, CEO,
Connected Digital Economy Catapult. "It's at this point the Digital Catapult Centre will
play a part. The UK is full of Universities and Clusters where people think of great ideas
and are given support. We want to complement that. We'll bring people together in
collaborative development projects to unlock four challenges in the data value chain in
order to accelerate digital innovators to market."
The Digital Catapult Centre is designed to highlight the fusion between creative and
technology, offering space for technologists, creatives, businesses and academia to
showcase products, connect and collaborate. It includes state-of-the-art collaboration
solutions, innovations labs, development spaces plus a Data Sphere and showcase for the
UK's most exciting new data innovations. As well as a program of events and workshops, the
Centre will run pit stops. These are intensive two-week sessions that bring together
relevant multi-disciplinary expertise to help businesses accelerate the development their
products or services.
By 2018, the Digital Catapult will have made a difference to 10,000 UK organisations,
generating GBP365 million of linked economic value. In addition to working with small
businesses, the Centre will see large businesses supporting and using the Centre to help
UK-based innovators develop their ideas. The Centre has also committed to a secondment
program to leading PHDs from several Centres of Doctoral Training and a student fellowship
program organised in collaboration with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research
Council (ESPRC).
"The Centre has been designed with creativity and technology at its heart. That
doesn't mean a room with a pink slide - the fusion of creativity, technology and design is
what will allow the UK to unlock the potential of digital. This space has features we know
help people combine creativity and technology to think, learn and accelerate digital
development," said Andy Green, Chairman of the Connected Digital Economy Catapult. "Once
the London centre is open, we will launch regional hubs across the UK. Our Euston Road
location is easily commutable by rail from the rest of the UK so it's a convenient central
hub and is also in the heart of the fast growing 'Knowledge Quarter' and close to London's
world class digital clusters".
"Technology has changed the world in which we live. The next stage is to accelerate
the UK as a leader, unleashing the power of data and information into new insight and
solutions that can both accelerate UK economic growth but also make the UK a better place
to live," commented Warren East, Non-Executive Director, Connected Digital Economy
Catapult and chair of the UK Electronic Systems Leadership Forum.
"Creative collaboration is at the heart of realising data's true potential and the

Health Care Service Corporation Launches Centered, A New iPhone® App To Help Reduce Stress
HealthKit Compatible App Encourages Physical Activity and Meditation
CHICAGO, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), operator of health insurance plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, has launched Centered, an app available exclusively for iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, that takes a holistic approach to stress management by combining the benefits of exercise and mindful meditation to help reduce stress levels and improve overall health.
Centered, a free app, builds on the popularity of personal activity-monitoring devices allowing users to track their daily physical activity in addition to providing guidance for mindful meditation exercises for a holistic approach to stress management and overall wellbeing. As the user makes progress towards their established activity and meditation goals, the two activities, represented as circles, converge to form a "centered circle," signaling completion of the weekly goal.
"In recent years, gamification has been successful in encouraging people to change behaviors and stay engaged in programs," said Kristin Conley, vice president, consumer lifecycle management, HCSC. "Centered employs game mechanics to encourage members to make the connection between exercise and stress management, which we believe leads to positive mental and physical health outcomes."
Centered, available exclusively from the App Store(SM), leverages HealthKit integration technology to gather steps information from other integrated wearable fitness devices. Additional features include:
-- Track calories burned, miles walked and time spent being active per day
for the last 7 days
-- Option to add a "today" view notification widget that will display
progress towards their steps and meditation goal as a snapshot
-- Set goals and reminders for daily steps and weekly mindful meditation
sessions
-- Receive tips for successful meditation sessions and added daily activity
-- View activity history for meditation sessions and steps taken
-- View average relaxation rating pre and post meditation session
evaluation
-- Tips for more successful meditation sessions and being more mindful
HCSC developed the app based on a study conducted with professors from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and the University of Massachusetts Medical School which found that abbreviated mindful meditation exercises result in significant reductions in stress levels and significant increases the participant's ability to focus attention on recent experiences in a clear and non-reactive manner (mindfulness). As a result, Centered has three meditation sessions, ranging in length from four to 19 minutes, as well as a session which explains the benefits of mindful meditation and instructions on how to get the most out of the meditation sessions.
"We're always looking for innovative ways to strengthen our commitment to our communities by providing tools and resources to empower them to better manage their health," said Darren Rodgers, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, HCSC. "Centered encourages positive behavior change and gives consumers greater insight in managing their health and well-being wherever they may be."

NanoTech Delivers State-of-the-Art Technology to the Gaming Industry at G2E 2014
NanoTech Gaming Labs Division Exhibiting at Booth #2712 in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NanoTech Entertainment (OTC Pink: NTEK), a pioneer in developing state-of-the-art gaming technology, will debut its line of new patent-pending technologies to the gaming industry at G2E 2014 Booth #2712 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas from September 30 to October 2. NanoTech will be showcasing its Vegas 2047, Advantage Play High Limit Pinball game that combines all of the new technology offerings from NanoTech Gaming Labs into a single, high-limit gaming machine. This game features the most realistic video pinball simulation ever created, using the most fluid and immersive visuals combined with a unique advantage betting system. Visitors to the G2E booth will be able to register for a NanoTech player's card, and compete to win a brand new Apple iPad each day of the show.
Aaron Hightower, NanoTech's Vice President of Gaming stated, "We are very excited to be showing the gaming industry its first glimpse of the future of Advantage Play technology with our patent-pending NanoTech Advantage system." By allowing game strategy to impact the expected value per bet, while retaining the operator's ability to adjust machines to meet their desired hold percentage, and operating within all local betting regulations, interactive game creators will be able to develop a new line of casino games that appeal to the recurring players."
Mark Nicely, of Nicely Done Gaming, an industry veteran and mathematics specialist stated "I've seen lots folk in the industry try to marry gambling and video game play -- myself included. NanoTech looks to be the first team to have finally succeeded. What the NanoTech team has done is truly compelling. Bravo." NanoTech worked with Nicely and Gaming Labs International to ensure that the system meets all of the criteria needed to be used by the industry.
In conjunction with the NanoTech Advantage, NanoTech is highlighting its specific implementation called the NanoTech Bet Cube. Bet Cube is a System that incorporates the Players bets and allows them to configure their bet within the entire domain of possible gambling parameters. By giving Players control over their bet amount, chance to win, bet frequency, pay multiple, and payout histogram, and divulging as much information as possible (such as the average expected house edge) the NanoTech Bet Cube provides more transparency than any system in any gaming machine, and lets the Player determine exactly how they want to gamble.
In addition to the new betting technology, NanoTech will also be showcasing its new patent-pending display technology, NanoTech Game Flow, which revolutionizes the clarity and motion of video gaming machine displays. Hightower continued, "By combining several video technologies as well as techniques that our team has been developing for over a decade, we are able to provide a clarity and smoothness to video displays that has never been seen before in this industry." NanoTech's demonstration will include a demonstration of Game Flow technology, showing side-by-side comparisons on 39" 4K Ultra HD displays, one stock and one using Game Flow, from a single video source. "By combining our patent-pending modifications to the display, and having the ability to run at 120Hz, GameFlow provides the most fluid visuals ever seen in the gaming industry," added Hightower.
Finally, NanoTech will be highlighting its new patent-pending input technology, NanoTech HVS, which allows for greater precision player interaction than ever seen before. Stephen Riesenberger, Creative Director for NanoTech Gaming Labs noted "By increasing the timing resolution of player inputs by an exponential factor, we have been able to eliminate any 'lag' in real time game feedback. It's amazing how much better and more responsive games feel using this technology." Machines using HVS can precisely measure a Player's skill in a game, whether in Casino or in Arcade Tournament settings, where real cash prizes and jackpots are at stake. The HVS system eliminates mechanical failures, input latency, and physics simulation latency in order to remove barriers between the videogame and the skill of the Player.

Officially Licensed XO Four and XO Seven Headsets at Retail in China Today
XO One to Launch in November
SAN DIEGO and SHANGHAI, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Turtle Beach, the leading audio brand in the video games industry, today announced the XO Four and XO Seven officially-licensed Xbox One gaming headsets are now on sale in China. Turtle Beach is the gaming audio brand of Turtle Beach Corporation (NASDAQ: HEAR).
The Turtle Beach XO Four and XO Seven gaming headsets are being sold individually and in Xbox One accessory bundles. Retail placement for the XO Four and XO Seven includes the official Microsoft online store on Tmall.com. Tmall is a Chinese-language online retailer that sells to consumers in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Hong Kong-based Will Technology is assisting in the supply of the company's XO Four and XO Seven models into the retail channel across China. The launch of the gaming headsets coincides with the launch of the Xbox One console, which debuted in China today, September 29.
"Our software and console licenses and our local distribution partners have Turtle Beach perfectly positioned to benefit from the launch of the Xbox One in China," said Juergen Stark, chief executive officer of Turtle Beach Corporation. "Combined with the rapid growth of multiplayer PC gaming in China, the introduction of console gaming will increase adoption of gaming headsets among Chinese consumers."
China is the World's Largest PC Gaming Market
China is the world's largest PC gaming software market, estimated to be 2.5 times larger than the number two market, the United States. More than 225 million people are estimated to be playing video games in China, and 65 million are considered hard-core gamers. The hard core extends to eSports, which involves professional and amateur video game players competing in tournaments for money. Interest in competitive gaming is so high in China that Major League Gaming (MLG), the U.S.-based global leader in eSports, has announced plans to build a 15,000 seat MLG Stadium dedicated to eSports on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, China. Turtle Beach is the official audio partner of MLG.
Turtle Beach will be introducing PC gaming headsets into the market, including the i60 and Heroes of the Storm(TM) models, which have all been certified for distribution in China. Turtle Beach has a multi-year, global licensing agreement with Blizzard Entertainment for the software developer's highly anticipated Heroes of the Storm multiplayer PC game.
DFC International has estimated that the market for PC gaming headsets will reach $55 million in 2014 and expand to $200 million by 2016. The launch of the Xbox One is expected to accelerate growth in the China video game market. Consoles were illegal in China until the government lifted a ban in January, 2014. Microsoft estimates it will sell 200,000 Xbox One consoles in the remaining 14 weeks of 2014. Sony has also announced plans to introduce the PlayStation®4 in China.
Localized Turtle Beach Brand
In concert with the introduction of its officially-licensed Xbox One headsets, Turtle Beach has created a Chinese language version of the Turtle Beach brand and logo. Phonetically pronounced Huan Jing, the Chinese language version of the brand name translates as Fantasy Space.
Turtle Beach to Introduce Interactive Retail Kiosks
Turtle Beach plans to introduce point of sale kiosks at key retailers in China ahead of the Chinese New Year shopping window. The interactive kiosks, which feature digital content from Turtle Beach and industry software partners, allow consumers to trial gaming headsets at the point of sale. The kiosks in China will join Turtle Beach's installed base of kiosks, which has grown from 2,500 worldwide in 2011 to 18,000 by the end of 2014.
"I am very pleased with the launch of the XO FOUR and XO SEVEN in China," said Stark. "China is a market with tremendous potential, and I am confident that the Turtle Beach brand will achieve popularity among Chinese consumers."

Alpha Technologies Eliminates Need for Batteries at Network Edge
New Environmentally Friendly Products Improve Network Resilience in FTTH & Indoor DAS Networks
VANCOUVER, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alpha Technologies Ltd., the power behind the evolution of communications networks, today announced the launch of two new products that utilize copper cables to deliver power to devices at the edge of the network. Continuing its longstanding efforts to minimize the need for deploying batteries deep in the network, Alpha announced the LPS04, an extension of its popular LPS36 family of +/-190Vdc Line Power products. The Company also announced the availability of its Aggregator(TM), a product that was sneak-previewed at this year's DAS and Small Cells Congress. The Aggregator is an NEC Class 2 device that enables the combination of multiple cables to deliver power to larger iDAS remote nodes.
"One of our methods of improving the resilience of the telecommunications network is reducing the number of small batteries spread throughout the network," said Grant Clark, Vice President of Product Management & Development.
"Our outdoor Line Power solutions, like the LPS04, enable carriers to use their embedded copper cable to power remote devices from their very robust and reliable central office power plants. And our indoor Line Power products, like the Aggregator, dramatically reduce the capital requirements for powering indoor DAS networks while powering the remote nodes from the power system at the DAS host site."
The LPS04 is a 4-circuit line powering up-converter module that is environmentally sealed for easy deployment in harsh outside plant environments. Its wide operating temperature range and rugged, sealed enclosure make it ideal for installation inside or outside an existing telco cabinet.
The Aggregator combines multiple NEC Class 2 circuits into a single 48V output for powering larger remote iDAS devices. When used in conjunction with Alpha's eLimiter(TM) family of products, the Aggregator meets the requirements of NEC Class 2 circuits, enabling DAS and Small Cell providers to use conventional cable to deliver a low cost, high reliability iDAS network.
Alpha will be the LPS04 and the Aggregator at both OSP Expo 2014 and INTELEC 2014. Visit Alpha at Booth #1323 at OSP Expo 2014, taking place September 30 - October 2 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland, http://www.ospmag.com/expo. "Overall, we are moving to end dependence on publishing games of other companies," stated CEO Collin Hwang. "We are making good progress in building new higher-quality revenue streams and positioning our businesses to drive shareholder value."
GigaMedia has licensed five mobile games from Asian game developers and plans staggered launches of the games over the next four months. RS Components Enters Agreement with Adapteva to Deliver One of the World's Most Energy-Efficient Open-Source Computing Platforms to Customers Globally
SINGAPORE, Sept. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --Â RS Components <http://sg.rs-online.com/> (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc <http://www.electrocomponents.com/> (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has signed a significant distribution agreement with Adapteva, producer of the innovative Epiphany multicore coprocessor and developer of the popular Parallella-16 board.
The partnership will bring the Parallella board directly to customers in Europe and Asia, which comprise almost 50% of the Parallella community, and will enable quicker, easier access to this energy-efficient technology.
Parallella was introduced to the industry through a highly successful Kickstarter crowdsourcing campaign with the objective of democratising access to supercomputing. The open-source project now has thousands of users around the globe in one of the industry's most active programming communities. The open-source single board computer includes the Epiphany III 16 core co-processor on the board alongside the Xilinx Zynq Z7000 dual core ARM processor. The credit card sized device can be used as a development platform, embedded engine, teaching platform or research tool and is easily scalable by clustering boards to create a mini-supercomputer for advanced parallel computing applications.
"As a leading electronics distributor, RS has the experience and reach to provide wider access to the Parallella board around the globe," saidJonathan Boxall, Global Head of Semiconductors at RS Components. "We are energised by the initial success of Adapteva and are committed to help expand the success to a much broader range of users via our worldwide network."
"Adapteva is changing the way that people do computing as traditional approaches are nearing the end of their power efficiency," saidAndrea Olofsson, CEO and Founder of Adapteva. "Parallella puts new capabilities in the hands of the novice and the expert. We are making parallel programming an everyday, low cost, accessible technology."
The Parallella board is available in three models and can be purchased from RS for same-day despatch from the company's global distribution centres.
