Altior Announces State-of-the-Art Compression-Decompression File System Accelerator for High Performance Primary and Secondary Data Storage Applications
New AltraFlex(TM) Compression Decompression File System (CeDeFS) Accelerator Solution Significantly Increases Disk Capacity Utilization Without Performance Degradation
EATONTOWN, N.J., Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Altior(TM) Inc., an innovative developer of advanced network and storage embedded systems solutions, has announced the availability of its AltraFlex(TM) Compression-Decompression File System (CeDeFS) Accelerator solution, which uses the industry-standard GZIP/GUNZIP data compression/decompression protocols to increase disk space and boost disk capacity utilization, seamlessly and transparently. It combines high performance data compression, advanced hardware acceleration technology, and device drivers for high-density primary storage. CeDeFS requires no modification to either applications or workflows, eliminating the effort-intensive task of custom system integration. The solution is targeted at applications that generate large and ever-growing amounts of data, such as enterprise storage applications, multimedia storage, and Web content management.
"The AltraFlex CeDeFS Accelerator benefits high performance storage solution OEMs and their customers with significant data compression, immediately increasing their return on investment for data storage capacity and appreciably reducing their future capital expenditures," said Robert Zecha, vice president of operations of Altior Inc. "Storage OEMs can now offer tangible cost-savings and ease of use to their customers as a competitive advantage in their marketplace."
Overcoming the Limitations of Software-Only Compression
The AltraFlex CeDeFS Accelerator is an integrated systems solution that is transparently layered over the native file system, which can be easily implemented into current and future designs, enabling faster time to market. CeDeFS enables application or flow modifications, allowing OEMs' customers the ability to deploy it rapidly and seamlessly, saving time, valuable resources and future storage hardware costs.
CeDeFS can be installed over any Linux file system. It is the industry's first hardware acceleration solution to process compression protocols in Linux file systems and scales in 10 Gbps increments by the addition of multiple accelerators. CeDeFS preserves all native file system semantics such as journaling, atomic writes and access control to ensure that no application or workflow modifications will be required.
Unlike software-only compression techniques, the AltraFlex CeDeFS:
-- Integrates data compression with the native file system, both increasing
existing storage capacity and reducing future capital expenditures.
-- Transparently overlays the native file system, thus requiring no changes
to applications or workflows, and resulting in a low cost of adoption
and ownership.
-- Executes data compression with advanced hardware acceleration technology
that imposes no performance degradation.
-- Increased I/O operations throughput with existing channel bandwidth.
"Customer tests have shown up to a 3X performance improvement over software-only compression, with a corresponding reduction in CPU and memory usage," said Hank Cohen, director of product marketing of Altior Inc. "Many software-only approaches suffer performance degradation because they compress files and folders on a whole-file basis, and opening and closing such files can waste CPU cycles. Even software-only systems that compress extents, rather than files and folders, suffer degradation. The AltraFlex CeDeFS Accelerator alleviates that problem."

AirTight Adds Wi-Fi Captive Portal/Walled Garden to Its Cloud-Based Secure Wi-Fi and PCI Scanning Service; Announcement at 2011 PCI SSC North American Community Meeting
New Capabilities Allow Restaurants and Retailers to Benefit by Offering Wi-Fi Access with Localized Content, In-store Customer Feedback and Loyalty Programs
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At the opening of the 2011 PCI SSC North American Community Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ, AirTight® Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention systems (WIPS) and AirTight Cloud Services(TM) for PCI wireless compliance scanning and Wi-Fi access, announced the addition of Captive Portal and Walled Garden capabilities to its portfolio of Cloud Services - a suite of managed services which includes AirTight Secure Wi-Fi(TM). The new capabilities allow restaurants, hospitality venues and retailers to expand their relationship with customers with Wi-Fi based value-added services such as customized content and e-coupon special deals.
Recent studies have shown that 80.5% of respondents prefer retail stores with Wi-Fi versus those without it, 65% would take advantage of Wi-Fi for various reasons and 53% are willing to share their location to receive more relevant content and promotions.(1)
"For enterprises such as retail, hospitality or quick serve restaurants, AirTight Cloud Services provide a secure WLAN network with minimum cost and complexity while satisfying all PCI DSS wireless security requirements at no additional expense," said Jatin Parekh, Vice President of Product Management at AirTight. "The addition of captive portal and walled garden capabilities now allows merchants to expand their interaction with guests to provide opt-in localized content, create loyalty programs and garner in-store customer feedback, all of which are incentives to keep the customer coming back and in the store for longer periods of time."
"AirTight has consistently expanded its product line and added capabilities to help its customers address not only current and emerging wireless threats, but also to keep on top of new trends in technology and business practices," said Laz Corrales, Senior Manager, Information Security, Citrix Systems, Inc. "The addition of managed Cloud Services with Wi-Fi access demonstrates, once again, how forward-thinking AirTight is."
About AirTight cloud Services
Wi-Fi access, which AirTight launched at NRF earlier this year, is offered as hosted, cloud-based, secure Wi-Fi access, PCI scanning, and network security in a single device. AirTight's Cloud platform provides the most cost effective enterprise solution for in-store Wi-Fi plus all the security and centralized management of the traditional WLAN vendors at a very low, all inclusive monthly fee per store. Because the solution was built specifically as a cloud offering, it is infinitely more scalable than a controller based solution.
AirTight Cloud Services are offered as three levels with a simple automated upgrade to any of the other modules as needed:
-- AirTight Wi-Fi
-- Wi-Fi access with captive portal/walled garden
-- Wireless IPS
-- Compliance scanning and reporting
-- Real time alerts
-- PCI Wireless Compliance
-- Automated compliance scanning and reporting
-- Real time alerts
-- Wireless Security
-- Wireless IDS
-- Continuous threat scanning and alerting
-- Performance monitoring
-- Custom reporting
-- Wireless IPS
-- Continuous threat detection
-- Automated threat blocking
-- Performance monitoring
-- Customized reporting and alerting
-- Real time alerts
The combination of simplicity of deployment, ease of use, and a price point that is unmatched in the industry makes it the right choice for organizations who wish to deploy wireless now or in the future. The services offer a radically less expensive alternative to any competitive solution available today.

vision of providing a fixed network alternative. The LTE rollout
incorporates network intelligence built-in from the ground up as an integral
part of the LTE architecture. This will enable optimized delivery of data at
rates up to 100Mbps and the implementation of value-based charging and
innovative service plans.

tailored packages, where particular application traffic is zero-rated
against the subscriber's data cap.
"LTE network operators have learned a lesson from their 3G
predecessors," said Rami Hadar, Allot's President and CEO. "Rather than
upgrading, they are now building out their networks as smart pipes from the
outset. The requirement for value-based charging models is amplified by
subscribers' unquenchable demand for bandwidth and a new generation of
data-hungry applications, as well as the service providers' need to find new
ways to monetize their networks Allot's access-agnostic solution is designed
to allow the operator to seamlessly maintain the same innovative approach to
charging across all of access, including 3G, LTE and fixed networks."

Designed for Small Businesses in mind, new security software
delivers more and demands less
AVG Technologies, a leading provider of Internet and mobile security,
today announced AVG Business Edition 2012, a robust-protection,
resource-friendly security software for today's small businesses. This new
version is faster, lighter, easier to use and is available now.
AVG believes small businesses need more than a stripped-down version of
enterprise security: They need software designed especially for them. In a
nutshell, AVG Business Edition 2012:
- Delivers more-with respect to speed, protection, cost
savings and time to focus on the day's tasks
- Demands less-by way of smart scanning, fewer interruptions and
ease of use that makes a smaller footprint on users, administrators,
PCs, servers and the overall budget
- Minimizes threats-via award-winning antivirus and Internet
security across multiple touch-points, from e-mail and the Web to
emerging threats such as information theft, social engineering and the
risks involved with using social media as a marketing tool
- Reduces hassle-with an uncluttered management console
"More than ever businesses need to be aware that the potential impact of
cyber-crime must not be underestimated. With our increased dependency on
information technology, not protecting your business could mean the end of
your business", said JR Smith, CEO of AVG Technologies. "After the 2008
financial crisis, the OECD began to re-examine today's potential
'global-shocks'. Alongside the expected threats; financial crises, pandemics
and social unrest, the OECD also included 'cyber risks' for the first time
ever. Our recent Cybercrime Futures report
[http://www.avg.com/filedir/news/2011_09_09_FuturePoll_Cybercrime_Futures.pdf ]
highlights the increasing risks we all face
and provides a call to action for businesses to protect themselves."
Businesses must:
- Equate online security with corporate governance and brand
protection, and make it a boardroom issue. This is not just a technology
debate
- Protect, and keep protection updated for all computers and
mobile computing devices that are brought in or taken home by staff,
contractors, clients and visitors
- Promote strong password management, with password and username
combinations that are not easy to guess and which include a combination
of letters and numbers
In conjunction with the launch of AVG Business Edition 2012, AVG also
announced the SMB Market Landscape Report, a GfK white paper with new SMB
market-related findings as of mid-2011. Top-level trends demonstrate that
SMBs:
- Have a more conservative attitude toward IT spending as a
response to financial uncertainty
- Are embracing technologies to increase levels of mobility,
though few are aware of the potential dangers associated with bringing
data to more devices
- Recognize the opportunity social networking offers to promote
business and engage with customers, but do not take the proper
additional precautions against specific social-media threats
- Remain focused on traditional IT vulnerabilities like e-mail and
web viruses without safeguarding against emerging IT security threats,
such as information theft and social engineering
- Are most concerned about losing access to files and replacing
hardware, when security breaches are the costlier risk. SMBs that have
already experienced such a breakdown are more likely to have seen the
long-term impact, such as loss of sales and revenue opportunities.
"AVG Business Edition 2012 aims to be the simplest, most tailored
security software for small businesses," said Robert Gorby, global head of
SMB marketing at AVG. "For businesses looking for protection without
impeding performance, AVG is the most compelling product on the market.
Customers can essentially set and forget-with peace of mind that we will
take care of the rest while they interact in the connected world."
In addition to security technology, AVG's information-packed Small
Business Resource Centre [http://www.avgatwork.com ] provides customers with
guidance to stay up to speed on the latest security trends. Security needs
are rarely the same for every organization; AVG helps SMBs select the
protection that is right for their business via an easy-to-use online
security audit tool [http://www.avgsecurityaudit.com ]. After a short
questionnaire about their business, customers receive a detailed report
containing hints and tips to better protect their data.

Magisto Turns Anybody's Unedited Video Footage Into a Short, Fun Movie With a Click of a Button
Secures $5.5M Series B Funding Round Led By Horizons Ventures, Including Original Investor Magma Venture Partners
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Magisto today announced the public availability of the company's free, web-based video editing service that automatically turns any unedited video footage into short, fun movies to share with friends and family. Additionally, the company also announced a $5.5 million Series B Round led by Li Ka-shing's private investment arm, Horizons Ventures that also includes original investor Magma Venture Partners.
Starting today, anyone can use Magisto to turn unedited video footage into high quality, share-worthy movies with titles, music, and all the best scenes. People no longer need to learn new software or spend days sifting through videos trying to do their own video editing. With Magisto, users simply upload their videos, pick a title, select their music, and with the click of a button Magisto goes to work. The company's proprietary technology automatically finds the best footage in the videos and edits them into a short, fun movie that is ready to share on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or via email.
"Kids. Special events. Family vacations. Everybody is shooting hours and hours of video, but nobody knows what to do with it," said Magisto Co-Founder and CEO Oren Boiman. "The average person doesn't edit videos. It's hard to do, and most people don't have the desire or time to learn video editing programs. So they either post long boring videos nobody wants to watch, or they save them on their hard drive - unwatched, unedited, unshared. We made Magisto to give people a way to take their videos and turn them into movies that are fun to watch and easy to share."
Additionally, Magisto has secured a $5.5M Series B round of funding led by Horizons Ventures, a Hong Kong-based investment manager looking after the private investments of Mr. Li Ka-shing and the Li Ka-shing Foundation in the TMT sector globally. Magma Venture Partners also participated in this round, having previously led the Series A Round in 2010.
"Do-it-yourself video editing is dead. Magisto is an entirely different video editing experience that delivers great quality video editing that has never been seen before," said Frank Meehan, Magisto Board Member for Horizons Ventures. "Magisto is the first company to actually make this automated editing work and bring it to market in an easy to use web service. The potential for this technology is significant, especially given the tremendous growth of video capable devices in recent years."
The Technology that Powers Magisto
Magisto uses revolutionary new technology that understands every aspect of video footage. More than just facial recognition, Magisto knows the difference between people, pets and landscapes and can even infer the "intent" of the filmmaker by analyzing the sounds and images on the video. Magisto's sophisticated technology and unparalleled understanding of video footage make the automated editing service seem like Magic to its users.
Magisto is free to users and can be found at http://www.magisto.com/. Users can select up to 16 video clips to upload, pick a title, choose their music and with a simple click-of-a-button, turn them into a high-quality movie ready to share.
Founded in 2010, Magisto is the only high quality automated video editing solution on the market. Magisto's mission is to change the video-editing paradigm by making video editing as easy as possible by doing the editing for you using state-of-the-art technology. Radware's Attack Mitigation System Delivers the First Fully Integrated Solution To Fight Cyber Attacks in Real Time
The solution blocks the new breed of sophisticated attacks that target Multiple layers of the IT infrastructure
MAHWAH, New Jersey, September 20, 2011/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Today's point security tools for IT infrastructures are not enough to
protect against the new wave of sophisticated cyber attacks. That's why
Radware [http://www.Radware.com ] (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of
application delivery
[http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationDelivery/default.aspx ] and
application security
[http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationNetworkSecurity/default.aspx ]
solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, today announced Radware Attack
Mitigation System (AMS), the industry's first fully integrated IT security
strategy and portfolio that protects the application infrastructure in real
time against network and application downtime, application vulnerability
exploitation, malware spread, information theft, Web service attacks and Web
defacement.
Available today, Radware's AMS provides the most comprehensive solution
to fight multi-vulnerability campaigns - today's sophisticated,
headline-grabbing cyber attacks that probe IT targets for weaknesses and
strike with parallel assaults across the infrastructure. These attacks are
hard to defend against because they are aimed at multiple layers in the IT
architecture, particularly against network infrastructure equipment, servers
and applications. Examples of multi-vulnerability attacks include
high-volume distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks as well as "low &
slow" stealthy attacks, network- and application-based attacks, all of which
hit simultaneously at multiple weakness points in the networks while
emulating legitimate user behavior making them harder to identify and block.
"The major advance in new threats has been the level of tailoring and
targeting - these are not noisy, mass attacks that are easily handled by
simple, signature-dependent security approaches. Targeted attacks aim to
achieve a specific impact against specific enterprises, and have three major
goals: Denial of service -- Disrupting business operations; Theft of service
-- Obtaining use of the business product or service without paying for it;
and Information compromise -- Stealing, destroying or modifying
business-critical information," according to John Pescatore, VP
Distinguished Analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Enterprises need to focus on reducing
vulnerabilities and increasing monitoring capabilities to deter or more
quickly react to evolving threats, and not focus on what country the attacks
are coming from.[1]"
Organizations typically respond to these attacks with separate patches
and tools for protection such as anti-DoS, intrusion prevention systems
(IPS), Web application firewalls (WAF), network behavioral analysis (NBA),
reputation engines, and security information and event management (SIEM)
solutions. Radware AMS consolidates these multiple attack detection with
mitigation technologies, such as signature detection and network and
application behavioral analysis (NABA), to handle malicious application
traffic through application-level challenge/response techniques. This gives
security managers the ability to identify bots that imitate real user
application transactions and block them in real time, avoiding the need to
perform rate-based protection that would drop legitimate users along with
the attack traffic.
"Nearly all IT security solutions today are designed and deployed as
point solutions. That's the problem - they miss the big picture," said Avi
Chesla, Chief Technical Officer for Radware. "Thus they cannot make the
required context-based security assessment, leaving the network exposed to
today's multi-vulnerability attack campaigns.
"Most vendors only specialize as players in a primary solution -
providing only WAF, IPS, DoS protection, or network behavioral analysis.
Others will offer 'light' version add-ons to incorporate additional
defenses. The solution we have launched offers best-of-breed technologies
for all of these security modules in a holistic, integrated solution
addressing the full gamut of today's evolving security threat landscape.
Recent cyber attacks prove that businesses need to plan for the worst case,
and that plan mandates the use of Radware's AMS solution," Chesla said.
The ultimate impact of multi-vulnerability attacks on businesses can be
staggering, resulting in fraud, defacement, identity theft, leaking of
sensitive corporate information, and as seen in many cases over the past
year, a complete shutdown of operations. Yet as hackers evolve in
sophistication, so too must IT security managers evolve their thinking.
Radware AMS can lead a transformative shift in the way the industry
approaches IT security from the current, tool-based response to a holistic
approach that integrates tools and strategies into a real-time, proactive,
attack mitigation solution.
Designed for online businesses, large enterprises, carriers, data
centers and managed service providers, Radware's AMS is built on Radware's
award-winning DefensePro(R) network security appliance, AppWall(R) Web
application firewall and APSolute Vision(R) application and network security
management dashboard.
Radware supplements these capabilities by adding the human factor - the
professional security consultants of its Emergency Response Team (ERT) who
are available around the clock. As literal "first responders" to cyber
attacks, Radware's ERT members gained their extensive experience by
successfully dealing with some of the industry's most notable hacking
episodes, providing the knowledge and expertise to mitigate the kind of
attack a business's security team may never have handled.
GLOBAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN
In support of the announcement, Radware is launching its new company
blog [http://blog.radware.com ], which features expert insights on not only
security, but also application delivery, mobile data, virtualization,
service provider issues and a host of other IT topics. The company is also
running a global marketing and advertising campaign to educate end users on
how they need to be fully equipped to overcome today's multi-vulnerability
attacks and take an offensive posture. The campaign features a Flash game
and contest designed to provide players with a fun way to learn about
Radware's Attack Mitigation System capabilities while they understand how to
cost-effectively neutralize today's distributed attacks. The game, "Radware
AMS Threat Race", runs until mid-October and offers contestants the
opportunity to win $5,000. For more information and game access, please
visit: http://www.radware.com/ams.
Radware [http://www.radware.com ] (NASDAQ: RDWR), is a global leader of

Layar Enters in Partnership With Telefonica I+D for Visual Search Technology
AMSTERDAM, September 20, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
Layar, the largest open platform for mobile augmented reality (AR),
today announced they entered into a strategic partnership with Telefonica
I+D for providing them with their market leading Visual Search Technology:
IRIS. Visual Search enables Layar to search through millions of images to
identify these images and correctly augment them on the mobile phone
resulting in a more intuitive user experience.
Visual Search is a key component in the delivery of vision based
Augmented Reality services to end-users. It makes it possible for real world
objects to work as identifiers and/or hyperlinks for augmented reality
experiences. Layar is adding IRIS Visual Search capability to their Layar
Reality Browser, making it significantly easier for users to discover
relevant Augmented Reality content.
The goal of Telefonica's IRIS project is to develop a service that
provides information related to an object just by taking a picture of it.
The object needs no special packaging, tag or marker. For this objective,
Telefonica I+D has developed and patented proprietary visual recognition
technology. This technology enables the identification of objects such as
supermarket products, logos, posters, or paintings among others. The
collaboration of this project with Layar is framed within the Open
Innovation initiative of Telefonica I+D.
David Marimon - Initiative Leader at Telefonica I+D: "When we started
our collaboration, we immediately saw the synergy that we were building. Our
visual recognition engine is a ground breaking technology delivered to
users. Empowering Layar with this technology was a natural step."
Dirk Groten - CTO Layar: "Implementing Layar Vision, we immediately
envisioned a solution encompassing both aspects of visual object
recognition: on the one hand, a client side technology that recognizes and
tracks images instantaneously based on their feature set (fingerprint), but
it's limited to a few dozen images due to memory and processing power
constraints. This we developed in-house. On the other hand, visual search
technology, which is cloud-based and allows the client to recognize a
specific image amongst millions of others. Iris is perfect at solving this
problem. We've partnered with Telefonica I+D, hosting their IRIS Visual
Search technology in the cloud allowing us to scale both in terms of search
traffic as well as in the number of reference images."

"Storage vendors often offer solutions based on proprietary architectures, which can be restricting for small-to-medium sized businesses," said Liz Conner, senior research analyst, Storage Systems and Personal Storage, IDC. "D-Link's open architecture provides businesses with the opportunity to choose from a variety of drive manufacturers in order to scale storage networks in a manner that best fits their performance, capacity, and budgetary needs."

Both models are stackable and include a single system-on-a-chip iSCSI controller capable of over 80,000 IOPS for processing intensive applications including audio and video post-production.
The DSN-4100 includes (4) 1 GbE data ports providing throughput up to 425MB per second and the DSN-4200 includes (8) 1 GbE data ports providing throughput up to 850MB per second, ideal for bandwidth intensive applications such as IP surveillance and data backup. Also available is the DSN-4000 16-Bay Expansion Array for the DSN-4100 and DSN-4200.

Adrian Grenier & John Loar Partner With New Video to Distribute the Award Winning Documentary "Don't Quit Your Daydream" Launches Online Tomorrow Tuesday September 20th
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Adrian Grenier (Reckless Productions) and John Loar (J Loar Productions) along with Clark Stiles & the Good Listeners are thrilled to announce their partnership with online aggregator, New Video, for distribution of their award winning documentary, "Don't Quit Your Daydream." Co-producer, Evan Ferrante, helped secure and broker the deal with New Video along with executive producer Sandlot Venture Group. The project will launch online tomorrow, Tuesday September 20, 2011.
"Don't Quit Your Daydream" will launch via: iTunes (Apple), Sony (Playstation), Microsoft (XBOX), Amazon, Rovi, Sonic, CinemaNow, RoxioNow, Vudu, & YouTube.
"I've been a fan of The Good listeners for years and their film is such a pure gem of story-telling. A story of friendship through music," said Grenier. I am proud to have been able to watch this film unfold on all sides of the process but I was most honored to be able to record a song with them for the film and be one of the collaborators and producers of this project. I learned from the film not to take for granted the music that we share and those with whom we share it, so I will eternally be grateful to have been a part of this project."
Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Nashville Film Festival and garnering critical praise along the way, "Don't Quit Your Daydream" documents the inspiring story of The Good Listeners, made up of lifelong friends Clark Stiles and Nathan Khyber, who refuse to give up on their dreams of making music. With film crew in tow, the group travel the open road, collaborating with unique, eclectic musicians of all walks of life (students, swamp tour guides, mechanics to athletes), spread out amongst cities across the country, in order to collectively write and record their third album. On the way, they are forced to reconsider what it means to live a life dedicated to the art of music.
The digital release of the film is set for September 2011.
"Partnering with New Video to distribute 'Don't Quit Your Daydream' is a perfect fit for what Adrian and I wanted to see happen... getting this fascinating and inspiring life-story out to the broadest audience possible," said John Loar. "We know that anyone who sees this movie will be able to relate with their own dreams and ambitions."
"Nathan and I, and our guerilla crew, charted a course across the country, locating local collaborators through referrals from friends, MySpace but mostly through pure blind luck. It was awesome; we got super lucky because we ran into such a wide cast of characters -- from really uncomfortable and weird situations to really mind-blowing experiences. We wanted a wide range - and we got it," said Clark Stiles, the Good Listeners.

News Marketing Canada Announces New Online Printable Coupon Site
SmartSource.ca to Provide Consumers with Unprecedented Array of Print-at-Home Coupons for Grocery & Household Products and More
TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- News Marketing Canada, the company behind the SmartSource brand of consumer-savings products and services, announced today that it will be bringing the successful American online couponing site, SmartSource.com to Canada as SmartSource.ca and UtiliSource.ca, the French language site. The U.S. site has approximately 100 coupons available at a time, predominantly focused on consumer packaged goods and beauty items. The U.S. site has been running for more than ten years and is one of the country's most popular and trusted online couponing sites.
Unlike many Canadian coupon sites, the new SmartSource.ca will offer printable coupons, meaning that the consumer selects only the coupons he or she wants, and then prints them at home. The site will also offer consumers the opportunity to request samples of a wide variety of household products, food and beauty items through the mail.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to bring our online couponing expertise to the Canadian consumer," said Henri Lellouche, SVP, SmartSource iGroup. "The quantity and breadth of what we're able to offer, combined with the ability of shoppers to print them and use them right away, will make SmartSource.ca an important destination for consumers when planning their shopping trips."
According to the measurement company Comscore, Canadians spend more time online than any other users in the countries tracked by the company. 2009 figures show that approximately 68 percent of the population is online, significantly ahead of the next two most web-savvy countries, France and the UK, at 62 percent each. Additionally, redemption house D+H has statistics that show that the redemption of internet coupons has doubled from 2008 to 2010.
"There's no question that the time is right to bring a new online couponing site to Canada," said News Marketing Canada SVP, Adam North. "And we're thrilled that the collective experience of our US team will allow us to offer the Canadian market a fresh, robust alternative to what is currently available."
The launch will be supported with a consumer awareness campaign that includes floor and cart advertisements in the grocery and drug stores where online coupons are frequently used.
Online coupons are accepted at most retailers, including Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart.

VMS to Canada - Soon all of North America can "See what I'm saying"
STOCKHOLM, September 19, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
The VMS messenger app, already available in the U.S., will be marketed
by a subsidiary of Swedish Ironroad AB (publ). VMS is a video message
service that can be downloaded for free as an app. The service is used
between mobile users, video bloggers and companies that want to communicate
directly with their customers via mobile phones.
The Canadian market is strategically important because VMS has exciting
content in the app from U.S. and other markets. In addition, Ironroad
recently launched VMS for BlackBerry, which has a large market share in
Canada. Together with the already available apps for iPhone and Android,
more than 85% of smart phone users in Canada will now be able to use VMS.
Ironroad Canada will be headed by Niklas Holm, who previously worked at
McKinsey & Company as a project manager serving leading companies within
telecom and high-tech in Europe and North America.
- Our goal is to establish VMS as an important communication channel for
smart phone users and businesses in Canada. Canada has well developed
sports-, retail- and media- industries where VMS has proven to be a
competitive product to reach end users directly in the mobile phone, says
Niklas Holm.
- We continue to successfully pursue our strategy to establish ourselves
in new markets. In Canada we can reach a French-speaking audience as well,
which makes it easier when we eventually establish VMS in France. We will
also see many synergies between VMS in Canada, USA and the Philippines, says
Magnus Kniving, CEO of Ironroad AB (publ).
About Ironroad
Ironroad is a Swedish company that has developed the VMS (Video Message
Service) technology, which was fully launched in 2010. VMS is now
established in 10 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and
Africa. Ironroad has about 100 employees and offices in Sweden
(headquarter), Norway, Spain, India, Indonesia and the Philippines. Our
partners and clients are several global mobile operators and media
companies, such as Tele2, 3 Hutchinson, TeliaSonera, Indosat and Telkomsel.
VMS is the sequel to SMS and MMS, a simple and inexpensive way to share
experiences and communicate through your mobile phone. VMS is downloaded as
an app from the App Store, Android Market or BlackBerry App Market.
4G LTE Network Expands with Addition of Daytona Beach
Fastest, Most Advanced Wireless Service Now Covers Most Major Florida Markets
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has added the Daytona Beach area to its extensive and quickly growing list of markets with the nation's fastest and most advanced 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) wireless network.
In addition to Daytona Beach, Verizon's 4G LTE network in Florida now includes Miami, Tampa Bay, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Sarasota-Bradenton and Lakeland, plus numerous airports throughout the state.
Nationally, the Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network already is available in 143 cities, covering more than 160 million Americans or half the U.S. population. Verizon Wireless expects to complete its 4G LTE wireless network across the country and throughout Florida by 2013.
4G LTE will provide area wireless consumers access to services up to 10 times faster than the company's industry-leading 3G network. "We're pleased to further build on the head start we have over our competitors in providing these services to customers on the fastest and most advanced 4G LTE network, here in Florida and across the nation."

To date, 11 rural carriers have announced their participation in the LTE in Rural America program and have leased spectrum covering more than 2.1 million people in rural communities and nearly 72,000 square miles.
