UAE takeover of US port operations Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:58:19 AM#15035Perm Link
I believe that the media is blowing this out of porportion, but still... I for one don't want any Arabic nationalist running anything of security value in this country. I understand that may sound harsh, but tough. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi.
Instead of listening to the people (we are saying NO to UAE control of our ports), he said he will veto anything that denies that takeover. That's pure bullshit and shitty politics. You are supposed to serve the people you asshole.
And they wonder why his approval rating is in the dumper.
That being said, it is true that the takeover won't be in regards to security. We'll have the same shitty security as we do now.
2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
The only additional leak this will add is that I can imagine it would be at least a little easier for terrorist sympathizers to infest this company. Katrina and other events have proven that we've done nothing to really fix security and organization in this country.
I wouldn't say the news has totally blown this out of proportion. UAE recognized the Taliban as a government but does not feel the same way about Israel, and the Dubai port company is owned by the government, and personally I don't like government owned businesses all that much. Call me a conservative but I don't like that socialist feel, but I suppose our president has marxist leanings so I can see why he's gung-ho for foriegn government owned companies controlling our ports.
