It's not the DRM on the files you should fight. That's illegal (definately here and probably in the US with the DMCA) and doesn't get rid or DRM, only makes it easier to exercise rights you don't have (if you "purchase" music online you usually only get limited rights anyway).
DRM must be fought as directly as possible.
Fight the legislation and the actual implimentation of DRM.
The DMCA makes it illegal to break DRM (encryption) which basically means that copying DVDs for backup is illegal even though it is covered under fair use.
This sort of thing is bad and we shouldn't be making laws like this in the first place.
