He starts yelling about how he is going to get some people to kill me and how it is the white people that enslaved his race and all this other racist bullshit.

I am completely not racist, I see people for who they are, not the color of their skin, but the way people seem to TRY and find shit based on race is just bullshit.

I wanted to preface what I'm going to say next with that just in case you don't read anything after it. Anyway, the reason that person found something racial in your racial slur toward him is because it was a racial slur. You seriously think you were wronged today by his use of the word "wonder bread" toward you? Then go tell some one. But replying back with the word "nigga" was an idiotic and entirely uncouth decision. First of all, I hope you can see the differences in the two words. Sure, they use it toward each other, but that's a decision that they make for themselves and I'm not saying it's right. I am saying that you should have known it was an entirely stupid decision to call him that word over an insult like "wonder bread" . (Please note: It is an entirely stupid decision to make any type of racist comment ever.) "Nigga"//Nigger has over 150 years of oppression and heartache that isn't entirely over at this point behind it. Wonder Bread has a delicious component to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich behind it. What's worse?

A lot of people consider it impossible to be racist against white people, I don't really know why. Probably because Caucasians were traditionally in power and were the biggest douche bags in the past, which I believe all sane white people do feel very awful about, even if their families weren't really involved. However, in some peoples minds all white people are inherently evil and thus you can say whatever you want about them because they've been racist in the past. I guess these people don't understand the concept of 'equality' and believe that it means white people should become subservient rather than the actual meaning, which is that all races should love one another.

Now, don't get be wrong, there are a shitload of racist white people out there and we're still far from real equality, but it doesn't help if you lash out at people who're not racist. I would advise you to just not say that word again, even if you didn't mean it in the negative, just to protect yourself because it really is a negative word no matter how you use it. But seriously, it's never OK to call anyone a derogatory name, white or black.

Also, I do kinda get miffed when people assume that all white people are descendant from slave-owners. Besides the fact that not all Americans owned slaves, a lot of people are pretty new to this country. My Italian side came here in the 1900s and my Norwegian side came well after the Civil War.

The reason he was able to flip was because two wrongs don't make a right. Him calling you wonder bread meant jack shit. Just like when white people are called crackers. Those words are seen as derogatory because of the context they are used in. The word "nigger" is derogatory regardless of the context it is used in, because it is always going to be a racial epiphet.

People need to learn that a word is taboo, or it isn't.

I didn't call HIM a nigga, I was around some friends of mine, and someone said I'm gonna pop a cap in a niggas ass, but since he was mexican, the black kid didn't care. I repeated it, and the black kid freaked out.

The only bleeding problem with the word Negro is that there is no simple technical term for lighter-skinned people. "White" can reasonably be seen as offending for two reasons: it downgrades the person it's used on to colour and "white skin" is quite incorrect anyway. "Black" is just as crap, "coloured" is a nice adjective to use on every human being ('s skin). Seriously, there is no way to express a human sub-race with a single word. I don't know about nigger/a, but once upon a time the word Negro was perfectly acceptable.

I do believe that there are different human races. I do believe that the abilities and physical properties of these differ. I do believe that everyone who thinks this matters is a flipping moron.

It basically makes them feel better, as they think they aren't being racist. Though technically, generalizing is stereotyping, which is usually used in racist connotations. So, yeah. Irony is a bitch.
