Wireless network help Mon Sep 20, 2004 7:58:08 PM#9944Perm Link
Ok, I've got a wireless network setup, but its not really setup right, otherwise the damn thing would work. The odd thing is that i can access the routher by both the wireless computer and the one plugged into the routher, but neither of the computers decided to detect the other. at one time i had everything working just right and i could access files across the network, but it stopped working and i hadnt changed anything to cause that. Ive checked pretty much every setting i can think of. Im using windows XP and im using a d-link wirless hub and a d-link wirless adapter, the nonwireless adapter is integrated with my nforce 2 mb. anyone got any clue as to what happened to my network?
i checked, ans yes, dhcp is enabled and all the computers were already set to get their ips automatically. the big error that seems to be in the way is one that says:
"\\COMPUTER1\SharedDocs in not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The Network path was not found."
Clearly it sees the ocmputer long enough todisplay the folders, but for some reason it just never acceses them. I dont get it.
update: i got the network to run for about a minute or so before it stopped working again. i didnt change anything, it just stopped working shortly after i had attempted to load a file across the network and i began a file transfer on the computer i was loading off of. since then ive had about 0% network activity other than being able to access the hub at both ends.
