Cookie Apps Unveils New Recording and Sharing Tools in Real Piano HD Pro 3.0 for iPad and Announces Special Limited-Time Discounted Pricing
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cookie Apps(TM) has rolled out Real Piano(TM) HD Pro 3.0 for iPad - featuring a full sliding keyboard with 88 piano keys, and new recording and sharing tools - and is offering the app for only $0.99 through the end of the month. First introduced in the App Store in January 2011, Real Piano HD Pro has gained popularity over the past two years with its 88-key piano keyboard design, impressive graphics and realistic grand piano sound. Today, it is a favorite among amateur and professional musicians, and music educators.
The Real Piano keyboard employs one-touch slide and stretch functionality. "We understand a pianist's need to move fluidly and nimbly across the keys, which is why we made the entire length of our 88-key keyboard accessible during play with the quick slide of a finger," said Richard Bao, co-founder of Cookie Apps. "Other 88-key apps use octave paging controls that are slow and clumsy." Players can also pinch the scroll area to resize the key width at any time.
A new toolset and interface for recording and sharing music is a highlight of Real Piano HD Pro 3.0 for iPad. Pianists simply press the record button and start playing; pressing the button again stops and saves the recording. Recordings can be played back through the recordings interface. The interface also enables players to share their recordings via e-mail, Facebook, SoundCloud and iTunes File Sharing. Several pre-recorded samples are included in Real Piano HD Pro 3.0.
All Real Piano apps produce authentic grand piano sound quality that was sampled from a real grand piano - essentially putting a grand piano right into the hands of anyone with an iOS device. In addition to grand piano, Real Piano HD Pro also plays guitar, bass, harp, marimba and music box. It offers a variety of customizable key labels, including different musical notation systems and color schemes, as well as professional tuning and transposition functions.
Real Piano caters to both professional and amateur pianists who call it "wonderful," "amazing," "easy to play" and "by far the nicest" piano app. "Being able to zoom in and out of the keys really is helpful and isn't something I've seen in other apps," said one user. "Now it is so easy to play piano on iPad," said another user. Real Piano HD Pro is also being used in music education settings. At a school in California, where all K-8 students are assigned an iPad for academic engagement and enrichment, Real Piano HD Pro is a required app for students in many grades.
"We were pleased to learn recently that, in addition to the music enthusiasts and professional pianists who love Real Piano, our app has also found a home in education," said Bao. "From the children who are learning to play the piano, to the music teachers who are teaching piano, to the choir and band instructors who need a highly portable keyboard ... the use of Real Piano in music education is a testament to our app's ability to deliver a great piano-playing experience."
Get Real Piano HD Pro 3.0 for iPad for only $0.99 (a $2.00 savings) through Jan. 31, 2013.

New online platform gives college students a voice for change
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The definition of one's typical grumble is to complain or protest about something in a bad-tempered but typically muted way. Campus Grumble, a new online platform that allows college students to vocalize issues or concerns they encounter, is revolutionizing the definition of a "grumble." The platform doesn't foster bad-tempers, calling for users to log in and express themselves maturely, but it is safe to say that the mute button is now off, as was the goal of developer John Kirkpatrick. Taking student concerns and noteworthy opinions to the next level, Campus Grumble bridges the previously existing gap between the well-informed recommendations of the student body and the administrative staff, allowing better-informed decisions to be made to improve conditions for present and future generations of scholars. Leaving the initial beta test mode behind, the official online platform of Campus Grumble rolled out in full force on Jan. 14, 2013.
The site joins peers in collaborating, corresponding and ultimately resolving issues that surround campus life with one "grumble" after another. From simple trials and woes to more complex scenarios that require intervention from the administration, Campus Grumble provides a positive environment for student-driven community discussion. Unlike previous methods used to communicate suggestions or concerns, Kirkpatrick believes that the professional forum style of his website will make these comments more quickly and easily accessed by university leaders.
Why not collect the buzz and make a difference?
What is a typical "grumble"? From a huge bees nest outside of a school building, strategizing ways to clean up campus, or venting over the need for more security at night, Campus Grumble is the starting point in executing improvements on both a small and large scale. Once expressed, a "grumble" can be "mumbled" by others, a way for others to support the "grumble" and reinforce the need for change.
The founders of Campus Grumble understand the power of social media and the ability to transform the concern or idea of one into a resolution for all. The days of taking a survey to institute reform or anonymously posting on a forum only to watch the concern get buried among the rest are growing dated and futile. Students can take pride and confidence in knowing their voice will be heard and lifted up by their fellow classmates on Campus Grumble.
Aside from the individual use of the platform, Campus Grumble offers influential student organizations a group membership, at a per semester fee, to allow for the most productive interaction of students possible on any given campus. Wake Forest University is the first to join the growing number of student associations jumping on board the Campus Grumble bandwagon.
Previous generations of students hid behind the notation of Que Sera Sera...whatever will be will be. With Campus Grumble, this no longer has to be the case.
Meet the minds behind Campus Grumble
Once students themselves, Campus Grumble founders John Kirkpatrick and Ryan Edwards identified a problem and took the unbeaten path of entrepreneurship to pursue what is now Campus Grumble.
John Kirkpatrick is a 2012 Wake Forest University School of Business graduate earned a bachelor's degree in business enterprise management with a focus in marketing, and a minor in entrepreneurship. From selling golf balls on the local golf course at age 11 to the development of three online companies and a corporate banking internship, John has seen his fair share of experience. He was recognized as a McKelvey Foundation Scholar and a NFIB Visa National Young Entrepreneur as a high school senior.
Ryan Edwards graduated from Wake Forest University Schools of Business in May 2012 where he majored in business and enterprise management and concentrated in new business development. His life has been a series of expectations exceeded, status quos challenged, and odds defeated. He has surfed 15-foot hurricane swells and has been held underwater by a rip current for two minutes. Apprenticing under one of the top surfboard shapers in the world, he has shaped and fiber-glassed a block of foam into a surfboard with an accuracy of 1/16th of an inch. He is as precise with revenue projections and market analysis as he is with fiberglass and sandpaper. While still in high school, Ryan invented an organic surfboard wax and founded Booty Wax ®, a surf wax manufacturing and distributing company. Ryan is currently serving as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Campus Grumble Inc. in his second entrepreneurial startup.
Virtium ECC SODIMM Memory Modules Proven for High-Volume MicroServers Enabling Mainstream Applications to Realize Advantages of ECC on Smaller Form Factor
Virtium ECC SODIMM modules validated on Intel® MicroServer platform
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtium, a leading provider of storage and memory solutions for embedded systems, today announced that the company's ECC SODIMM memory modules are proven for use on high-volume MicroServers. Intel® has validated Virtium's ECC SODIMM modules on its Bordenville MicroServer platform, which paves the way for more mainstream applications to realize the advantages of ECC on a smaller form factor module. Because MicroServers are optimized for smaller, lightweight scale-out of non-enterprise applications such as front-end web, content delivery nodes and low-end dedicated hosting devices, these applications require lower cost, reduced footprint memory modules.
"Virtium is committed to delivering innovative memory solutions, and our ECC SODIMM modules have been successfully implemented in telecom, networking and embedded systems for many years. Now, MicroServers can leverage this proven memory solution," said Phan Hoang, vice president of R&D at Virtium. "Embedded and industrial systems customers also benefit from better economies of scale due to broader adoption of this technology."
Virtium has developed numerous industry firsts such as VLP and Blade VLP (ULP). It was the first to introduce ECC SODIMM and SO-RDIMM products in 2006, and led its specification development through JEDEC. The expansion into more mainstream MicroServer applications demonstrates how DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L ECC SODIMM can serve as a cost-effective memory module alternative in higher volume system deployments.
Virtium's full line of ECC SODIMM memory modules are available now in DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L, standard VLP and Blade VLP (ULP) form factors. For detailed product specifications on Virtium's ECC SODIMM products, please go to: http://www.virtium.com/sodimm.

NextPrinciples Launches Next Generation Social Analytics and Engagement Platform
Insight-To-Action Goes Beyond Listening and Engagement to Offer Companies a Solution to Integrate Social Conversations into Existing CRM Systems
MILPITAS, Calif., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NextPrinciples today launched Insight-To-Action, an integrated social analytics and engagement platform designed to help medium-to-large organizations create, manage and monitor lasting relationships with customers, influencers and prospective customers across all channels - social or traditional. Companies can now go beyond listening to the social web and engage with customers by analyzing results and integrating conversations with existing CRM systems, such as Salesforce.com, SugarCRM and Microsoft Dynamics.
"In today's fragmented marketplace, many social tools help brands either listen to or engage with customers," said Satya Krishnaswamy, founder and CEO of NextPrinciples. "Insight-To-Action not only provides an integrated platform for those social interactions but - most importantly - integrates seamlessly with CRM systems. CRM integration is crucial to providing a consistent and superior customer experience across all channels."
NextPrinciples, a ZDNet 2013 CRM Watchlist winner, is enabling leading brands to execute campaigns and events, manage the performance of their social portfolio, generate leads and provide customer care. The tight integration with CRM systems enables a closed loop process for influencers, potential leads and support cases identified over social channels.
"NextPrinciples has a rich and unique offering for the growing market in customer analytics and engagement," said Paul Greenberg, noted CRM analyst and author of "CRM at the Speed of Light 4(th) Edition." "Their applications are germane to the needs of businesses that care enough about their customers to want to know something about them - which should be everyone, in theory at least."
The launch of Insight-To-Action comes at a time when companies are looking to social technologies to produce significant returns on investment. Analysts estimate an annual value of between $900 billion to $1.3 trillion that could be unlocked by social technologies.
"The rich analytics enable organizations to move beyond vanity metrics of number of 'likes' and 'followers' and demonstrate quantifiable business benefits," Krishnaswamy said. "One of our customers gained an annual return of five times on their investment, while another was able to prevent a $15 million revenue loss by proactively managing an emerging crisis."
The platform offers integrated capabilities from monitoring and analytics, to engagement, to integration with CRM systems. The solution's superior usability ensures that users are typically up and running in less than an hour without any formal training or IT support. Insight-To-Action's platform includes four modules, including Campaigns and Events, Contact Management, Community Engagement and Social Performance, and offers out-of-the-box integration with Salesforce.com, SugarCRM and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Word Whizzes Love iPhone 'Word Find' Game by Retired Colonel
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Word whizzes love a new iOS game guaranteed to challenge their word finding capabilities.
Word Head is the 'Rubik's Cube' of word search games. It's as if Word Search and 'Boggle' had a baby and made it in 3-D they'd call it 'Word Head.' Players manipulate a 3-D cube floating in mid air looking for words that can wrap and twist around the sides of the cube. Move the cube up, down, 180 degrees to the left, 90 degrees to the right, there's nothing like it. Word Head is highly addictive because its rotating 3 dimensional cube challenges players to quickly discover words from either a pre-selected or player-customized list.
Find the word, score points. Once you find them all there's one more hurdle to clear; you must discover a special 'hidden' word to win the game.
Word Head is the first app developed by retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Andy Kiger who served in Alaska and CONUS, to include an operational deployment in the Philippines and two combat tours in Iraq during his 23 years of active duty. Says Kiger, "I've been a big fan of word games my entire life and thought the iOS platform offered a great way to include some unique twists and features in an electronic version."
Kiger personally created the 79 themed word lists to be "both challenging and vocabulary enriching." Word Head http://www.WordHead.net dares players to search for and discover select words. Players can also select their own custom word list from a provided word look-up in four languages - French, German, Spanish, and English totaling over 1.6 million words, which can be shared with friends on Apple's Game Center. Many word definitions are also provided through Apple's internal iOS dictionary for all four languages.
Word Head was designed to run on iOS 5.01 or later for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch family of devices.
Many notable reviewers have awarded Word Head with several 4.5/5.0 star reviews:
"It has a unique theme and concept and would not only appeal to word lovers, but puzzle aficionados as well." The iPhoneAppReview.com
"Highly recommended for adults and children from about 2nd grade up."
The iMum.comReviews by Mothers of Little Gadget Lovers.
"The graphics are neat and the gameplay concept is strong." TheAppleGoogle.com

CORTEX technology will help cable operators cost-effectively grow HD capacity, improve operational efficiency, and preserve high run rates
SUWANEE, Ga., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) today introduced new CORTEX clustering software technology, available now, to be used with the ARRIS ConvergeMedia(TM) solution, utilizing the XMS Flex Distribution Platforms with Streaming Media Engine (SME) 5.3.1 and Ad Control Manager (ACM) 3.0 software releases. CORTEX gives operators the ability to consolidate their ad insertion infrastructure into centralized, resilient systems where the delivery infrastructure is both reliable and expandable. The technology will help cable operators cost-effectively grow capacity for HD expansions, improve operational efficiency, and preserve high run rates.
The new clustering software has been designed specifically to meet the needs of ARRIS customers. ARRIS has over 15 years of advertising experience and its advertising management solutions have captured over 60% of the North American market. The company has helped operators transition their businesses from analog to digital ad insertion and expand their digital services to support both SD and HD ad insertion.
ARRIS Clustering Software Increases Operational Efficiency and Resiliency
CORTEX provides more fault tolerance than previous clustering techniques. It also contrasts with systems using external applications to provide fail-over resiliency. CORTEX provides more granularity and flexibility in configuring the system and developing new capabilities. It is also more scalable since the intelligence is embedded in each node deployed.
CORTEX, combined with the XMS Flex distribution platform, provides the added flexibility and resiliency needed to scale capacity both cost-effectively and reliably. The solution targets ad sales groups seeking to centralize their ad insertion servers in order to maximize hardware efficiency and reduce operational complexity,
"Operators continue to grapple with increased capacity needs to meet demand for a more diverse array of video and advertising services. Additional pressures to streamline operations emphasize the challenge to consolidate operations and reduce complexity at the edge of the delivery network," said Neerav Shah, VP, Product Line Management at ARRIS. "This is especially true for digital ad insertion services, where ad sales groups face large upgrades fueled by HD expansions. Simply put, adding capacity must be cost effective and manageable."
CORTEX Improves Infrastructure Scalability and Load-Sharing Capabilities
CORTEX enables loosely coupled ConvergeMedia XMS Flex servers to operate as a single, load-sharing, resilient, logical system. The software
-- Uses standard GigE networking components and protocols to deliver the
most cost-efficient clustering technology
-- Is optimized to operate with the XMS COTS platform, complementing high
performance and density with increased system resiliency
-- Supports dynamic content management and load balancing to optimize
storage usage and streaming demand
-- Provides hardware failure isolation and automatic recovery from one or
more node failures to ensure continued operations
CORTEX is part of the XMS operating system (SME), so any application running on top of it can take advantage of its benefits.
ARRIS Advertising Solutions Portfolio
Delivering 6 million ad transactions daily, ARRIS advertising solutions portfolio manages and inserts traditional zoned, interactive and targeted ads into the cable and IP networks of North American pay-TV service providers. The portfolio powers both linear and dynamic ad insertion that also enables new, expanded revenue opportunities for the delivery of ad content on connected screens and devices throughout the home. 150m Euros available to Smart Grid Researchers and Developers
A new joint funding initiative between the Ministries of Economics (BMWi), Environment
(BMU) and Education and Research (BMBF) will help propel Germany's 'Energiewende' (Energy
Transition) further forward with EUR 150 million of new investment.
The funding initiative, called 'Sustainable power grids', is an integral part of the
6th energy research program of Germany's federal government. Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI)
will be on site at DistribuTECH in San Diego from Jan 29-31 to help highlight the
opportunities within these projects.
The next big challenge is to create a power grid that is able to distribute energy
more accurately and according to demand, through the use of information and communication
technology (ICT).
"The share of energy supply from renewable sources continues to grow," said Heiko
Staubitz of Germany Trade & Invest.
"So as to keep these grids operating smoothly, the implementation of ICT during the
expansion of renewable energy's share is paramount."
The results of a previous initiative, 'E-Energy - Smart Energy Made in Germany',
presented on January 18 at a conference in Berlin, made clear that the implementation of
ICT is a crucial step in Germany's 'Energiewende'.
In six pilot projects, different key technologies and business models for an 'Internet
of Energy' were tried out with varying degrees of success. The savings potential of these
so-called 'Smart Grids' would lead to a 10% saving in household bills and perhaps as much
as 20% in industrial zones.
Germany Trade & Invest is the foreign trade and inward investment promotion agency of
the Federal Republic of Germany. The organization advises foreign companies looking to
expand their business activities in the German market. It provides information on foreign
trade to German companies that seek to enter foreign markets.

CloudByte Introduces Next-Generation Storage for the New-Age Datacenters; Expands US Operations
CAMPBELL, California, January 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
ElastiStor 1.1 delivers QoS-configurable storage endpoints and on-demand
storage provisioning, making storage easy and affordable in datacenters with hundreds of
diverse applications;
CloudByte CTO moves to Silicon Valley office to lead and expand US
operations
CloudByte Inc., the technology leader in enterprise storage, today announced the
launch of ElastiStor 1.1 (Beta), to meet the storage demands of new-age datacenters which
host hundreds of applications with diverse workloads. ElastiStor 1.1 boasts of several
industry-first features, including QoS-configurable storage endpoints and on-demand
storage provisioning, which offer tremendous cost savings and drastically simplified
management to enterprises and CSPs.
"We're delighted to launch the next-generation storage product by baking in advanced
technologies of virtualization and software-defined intelligence," said Felix Xavier, CTO
and Founder, CloudByte. "At CloudByte, we are constantly working towards making storage a
lot more intelligent, flexible, fully shared, easily manageable, and ready to handle
thousands of applications and their varying performance demands with a single click."
QoS-Configurable Storage Endpoints Help Reduce Storage TCO by 80-90%
For the first time ever, ElastiStor brings QoS-configuration to storage endpoints
i.e., each storage LUN can now be configured in terms of capacity, IOPS, throughput and
latency. This allows applications with diverse workloads to be guaranteed QoS right from a
shared storage platform. Together with linear scaling, a single extensible shared storage
platform from ElastiStor can replace legacy solutions' dedicated storage islands. By
un-fragmenting storage islands and optimally utilizing resources, ElastiStor requires a
much lower storage footprint, leading to 80-90% cost savings over three years.
Ease of Management with On-Demand Provisioning and vCenter like Administration
ElastiStor delivers storage provisioning as a service by intelligently automating node
selection and resource allocation, based on an application's performance demands. Further,
ElastiStor cluster with hundreds of applications, spanning across multiple sites can be
managed from a single web-based console. ElastiStor console allows admins to monitor,
manage, and control storage resource usage at application-level granularity within shared
storage - a capability that's technically impossible with legacy storage architecture.
Learn more about ElastiStor features at http://www.cloudbyte.com/products_features.aspx
CloudByte Empowers Cloud Service Providers to Compete with AWS
With AWS announcing IOPS guarantee, other CSPs need a cost-effective way to guarantee
IOPS, throughput and latency to performance-sensitive applications. Legacy storage
solutions result in prohibitive cost structure as they require dedicated storage per
application. ElastiStor delivers tailored QoS to every application right from shared
storage, enabling CSPs to profitably offer a superior service. Within shared storage,
applications are isolated at all storage stack levels for full security. In addition,
ElastiStor offers delegated administration and REST APIs - much requested features from
CSPs to reduce their management overhead.
CloudByte Delivers Customizable, Scalable and Reliable Datacenters to Enterprises
ElastiStor brings unprecedented customizability and scalability to enterprise
datacenters with its software-only and software-defined storage solution. With
zero-proprietary hardware and OpenStorage, ElastiStor frees enterprises from any
proprietary lock-in, allowing them to custom-build infrastructure based on their
requirements, whether it's SATA, SAS or SSD. Software-defined, ElastiStor allows admins to
easily scale by breaking the need for hardwiring storage controllers and disks to
configure desired performance for any application. Further, CloudByte delivers n-way HA
for mission critical applications, exponentially increasing their uptime compared to
legacy solutions' 2-way HA. CloudByte ElastiStor is Citrix Ready, certified for Xen Server
6.0 and CloudPlatform 2.x and 3.x.
CloudByte Expands US Operations
Felix Xavier, CTO and Founder, CloudByte has moved to the Campbell, California office
earlier this month to head US operations. Felix is a seasoned leader with over 15 years of
development and technology management experience. With the right blend of expertise in
both networking and storage technologies, he helped ideate CloudByte's vision. Most
recently, Felix helped NetApp gain leadership position in storage array based data
protection, by driving innovations around its product suite. CloudByte has also recently
hired sales architects and engineers from NetApp to drive CloudByte ElastiStor sales in
North America.

overhead. CloudByte ElastiStor runs on industry standard hardware and allows cloud service
providers and enterprises to custom build their storage infrastructure free from any
proprietary lock-in.

screen (240 x 400 pixels), 8 GB internal memory, bike mount, and
batteries included
