New Wi-Fi Alliance® technologies shine at CES 2013
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM) programs enable advanced applications and drive double-digit sales growth rates into 2016
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- 2012 marked yet another year of Wi-Fi(®) innovation and record device sales, with more than 1.5 billion devices sold, according to ABI Research. Now the Wi-Fi industry sets its sights on major performance enhancements and support for a range of new applications to emerge over the next two years. Once again in the spotlight at CES, Wi-Fi connects an ever-widening range of products, enabling applications as diverse as home theater, smart energy, automotive and more.
Innovation and interoperability from Wi-Fi Alliance(®) continue to drive the connected entertainment experience. Among the advances on display at CES 2013:
-- Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast(TM) is appearing in a range of televisions,
tablets, handsets and more. Miracast makes it easy to display
applications or video content from one Wi-Fi device on another, even
when the devices are different brands. Since the program became
available in September 2012, more than 60 devices have completed
certification, and both Wi-Fi Alliance and individual Wi-Fi vendors are
demonstrating Miracast screen sharing and video display applications on
the CES show floor.
-- Gigabit Wi-Fi is also on display at CES. Early implementations of the
newest generation of Wi-Fi, based on 802.11ac, will impress attendees
with high performance and support for demanding multimedia applications.
Wi-Fi Alliance will certify products implementing the technology later
this year under the moniker Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM) ac. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED ac
builds on the industry's legacy of product compatibility, with most
devices expected to be dual-band and interoperable with Wi-Fi CERTIFIED
n devices.
-- Multi-gigabit point-to-point wireless will soon appear in products
certified by Wi-Fi Alliance. Interoperable 60 GHz technology based on
the WiGig specification complements traditional Wi-Fi for applications
such as instant docking, streaming uncompressed HD video, and more.
Wi-Fi Alliance recently announced plans to unify with the WiGig
Alliance, and several Wi-Fi Alliance members are demonstrating WiGig
implementations at CES 2013.
"We have set forth a vision of 'seamless connectivity' and our members continue to deliver the technologies and products that achieve that vision," said Wi-Fi Alliance president and CEO Edgar Figueroa. "We're enthusiastic about what is in store for 2013, and CES will be an exciting venue to showcase how Wi-Fi plays a leading role in consumer electronics."
ABI Research predicts that yearly Wi-Fi shipments will reach almost 3 billion in 2016, nearly doubling 2012's count of about 1.5 billion; growing at a compound annual rate of 14 percent. Other interesting industry notes from ABI Research include:
-- The total number of Wi-Fi shipments increased 29 percent from 2011-2012
-- The consumer electronics category led Wi-Fi sales growth at nearly 42
percent
-- Sales of Wi-Fi enabled handsets grew 32 percent from 2011-2012
"Wi-Fi has entered its second decade of robust growth and is established as a must-have technology for many electronics devices," said Peter Cooney, practice director for semiconductors for ABI Research. "Continued innovation to support advanced applications and improve performance, while continuing to deliver interoperability and a great user experience, are at the core of the industry's ongoing success."
The dynamism and growth of the Wi-Fi industry is reflected in Wi-Fi Alliance's industry-leading Wi-Fi CERTIFIED program. The total volume of Wi-Fi certified products grew more than 25 percent from 2011-2012, with the consumer electronics category up 64 percent in that time period. Certifications in the handset category jumped 34 percent year over year.
Wi-Fi Alliance will join the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA(®)), HomePlug(®) Alliance, and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(®)) to promote and demonstrate the connected home during 2013 International CES, January 8 - 11. The organization will demonstrate a number of Wi-Fi applications and technologies, including Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast, in South Hall 1, Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 20300.
Wi-Fi Alliance is a global non-profit industry association of hundreds of leading companies devoted to seamless connectivity. With technology development, market building, and regulatory programs, Wi-Fi Alliance has enabled widespread adoption of Wi-Fi worldwide. The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM) program was launched in March 2000. It provides a widely-recognized designation of interoperability and quality and it helps to ensure that Wi-Fi-enabled products deliver the best user experience. Wi-Fi Alliance has completed more than 15,000 product certifications, encouraging the expanded use of Wi-Fi products and services in new and established markets.Wi-Fi(®), Wi-Fi Alliance(®), WMM(®), Wi-Fi Protected Access(®) (WPA), the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo, the Wi-Fi logo, the Wi-Fi ZONE logo and the Wi-Fi Protected Setup logo are registered trademarks of Wi-Fi Alliance. - Supports HEVC video coding standard; reduces video bandwidth usage by 50 percent
- Simultaneously delivers four transcoded HD video streams over IP for content on any screen
- Delivers unprecedented 21000 DMIPs of application performance while protecting high-value content with web domain security features
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- - 2013 CES International -
Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced the world's first Ultra High Definition Television (UltraHD TV) video decoder solution on the market. Learn how Broadcom® innovation is enabling the Connected Life at home, at work, and on-the-go at Broadcom@CES.
The BCM7445 is the first step to delivering UltraHD TV into the home with the performance and picture quality needed for the evolution in multi-screen connected home entertainment. Broadcom's 28 nanometer (nm) ARM-based BCM7445 UltraHD video decoder solution, serving as the primary gateway to the home, delivers more transcoding, CPU processing performance and home networking throughput to support a greater range of applications such as video-on-demand (VoD), gaming, social media and web store applications.
UltraHD TV technology, formerly known as 4K, marks a major innovation in HD resolution. UltraHD TV screens display four times the resolution of today's 1080p60 displays. The delivery of UltraHD TV requires a more efficient compression codec made possible by the use of the new High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard. HEVC speeds Internet video downloads giving operators and users the ability to download content such as movies in half the time and with higher quality video at 50 percent of the bit rate previously required.
"The clarity and brilliance of UltraHD television is a significant step forward in viewing enjoyment and is the next true evolution in TV innovation," said Dan Marotta, Broadcom's Executive Vice President and General Manager, Broadband Communications Group."By integrating HEVC, Quad 1080p transcoding, quad-core CPU, gigabit networking speeds and web domain security, Broadcom is enabling a dramatic improvement in the TV viewing experience while making UltraHD video delivery economics work for service providers."
"HEVC, which will be known as MPEG-5 or H.265, will be required to broadcast UltraHD content, notably major sporting events and Hollywood content," said Michael Inouye, Senior Analyst of TV and Video, ABI Research. "Next generation user experience, including 80 inch and larger displays, will be improved by the adoption of UltraHD and HEVC. The efficiency of HEVC will also enable additional services including faster IP downloads and the provisioning of VoD services over wireless networks."
Key Features:
-- Based on 28 nm process technology, the BCM7445 features the new Brahma15
21,000 DMIP CPU, four 1080p30 real-time transcoders and HEVC compression
that delivers resolution up to 4096x2160p60.
-- The BCM7445 also features web domain security, an industry leading
hardware security oversight to separate Internet services from premium
broadcast content. This protects critical core network functions from
malware threats, paving the way for operators to securely converge and
deliver pay-TV programming and open Internet applications to subscribers
for a web-based TV experience.
Brahma15 Application Processing
The Brahma15 is a 21,000 DMIP Quad-core ARMv7-A instruction set compatible multiprocessor. 32KB instruction and 32KB data caches per processor are backed by a shared 2MB L2 cache and feed the multi-issue, out-of-order superscalar 15-stage plus write back pipeline of the Brahma15. A 32KB read-ahead cache between the L2 cache and the memory controllers provides 8KB of read latency reduction per processor. The Brahama15 supports the ARM Trust Zone® security architecture, software virtualization and hardware virtualization by core for complete security isolation. Each core individually supports single cycle ARM NEON 128- bit vectors for software based media processing applications. The entire architecture supports Broadcom's Nexus and Trellis software interfaces ensuring a seamless continuation of the home gateway and client experience.
Availability
Samples of the BCM7445 UltraHD TV video decoder for the home are now available, with volume production expected in mid-2014. The BCM7445 will be demonstrated at Broadcom's booth at 2013 CES International.

epay Partners with WorldPay to Launch Competitive Merchant Acquiring Deal to Independent Retailers
LONDON, January 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
epay have partnered with WorldPay, Europe's leading provider of merchant accounts, to
allow retailers the ability to process credit and debit card payments through their epay
terminal using their Streamline technology. Not only will retailers benefit from earning
excellent commission rates from existing products, epay retailers can now also increase
spending from customers who prefer to make purchases using their credit/debit cards,
whilst processing card payments at competitive rates.
Growth in card payments has placed demand on small and medium size businesses to offer
additional payment methods where cash has historically been the payment of choice. Not
only does this bring more footfall into store, but has also proven to increase basket
spend.
In addition to providing payment processing for all major debit and credit cards
including MasterCard and Visa, epay's new terminal with Streamline technology also offers
a range of card payment options to process transactions in a face to face environment
using fixed, portable, and mobile card acceptance devices.
On average, UK adults carry up to three cards each, and 89% of the adult population
carry at least one debit or credit card. In order to ensure consumer shopping experience
is quick, simple and stress free, epay are making payment options convenient, fast and
more secure than ever. Customers paying by cash fell by 5.2% in 2010; in fact, a Dunn &
Bradstreet study in September 2012 found that people spend 12-18% more when using credit
cards than when using cash within a retail setting.
epay's new VX 520 terminal with built in card processing technology can also be
connected to broadband to bring transaction speeds down to as little as two seconds. It
allows independent stores to compete with major retailers by reducing transaction times,
and with WorldPay being the only UK processor operating on a dual authorisation system,
retailers will be less likely to experience downtime, even during peak times.
So why wait? epay is offering all new and existing retailers the chance to sign up now
with GBP100 off installation costs and no monthly terminal charge for the first three
months*. Take advantage of this fantastic offer and experience for yourself the benefits
of accepting card payments in-store!
*Offer runs until 31st January 2013, full terms and conditions apply.

major part in the way consumers shop, epay provides a Gaming & Entertainment solution to
the independent retail estate. To help retailers capitalise on the gaming and
entertainment trend, epay launched gaming credits for Xbox, Sony PlayStation Network and
Nintendo, as well as gift cards for Amazon and Amazon Kindle, into the convenience retail
market in December 2012. This ensures consumers can now top-up their account, purchase a
subscription, or buy a gift card in their local store at a time convenient for them.
The gaming market is one that continues to boom, with one in three people in the UK
now playing a form of interactive entertainment. Gaming has moved on from static single
player video games to fully immersive, interactive, physical gaming and moved even further
with smartphone, virtual, and multiplayer entertainment. The demographics of gamers has
changed significantly over the last 10 years; now the average online gamer spends seven
hours a week playing online, 42% of these gamers are females between the ages of 25 and 44
years, and over 20 million players spend 17 billion hours on Xbox LIVE alone.
As the market is changing and consumers are using more handheld and digital devices,
this is a great time to launch Amazon products into what was normally a traditional retail
setting.
"Amazon gift cards are a great gifting solution because they allow the purchase of
hundreds of different products from a wide range available and are simple and easy to
use," Joni Shakles, Senior Vendor Manager for epay states. "We are also excited about
being able to offer Amazon Kindle cards in retail settings. Amazon Kindle cards are the
number one bestselling product on Amazon, and the Kindle was one of the most popular
Christmas gifts last year in the UK with one in 40 adults receiving an e-reader."
Providing the activation of these products through their terminals allows the
retailers to truly offer a diverse product structure normally not available in the
independent market. The gaming products can be purchased on a single basis or on a
subscription term and allow extended access, features and gaming ability on consumers'
consoles at home.
Leisure time is becoming more precious in peoples increasingly busy lifestyles, and
this is changing the way that gamers access and purchase their additional content.
Convenience is key, and offering these products within a local store to the consumer means
their gaming experience becomes quick, simple and accessible when they want it.
epay are working alongside some of the world's leading brands - such as Sony,
Microsoft, Nintendo, iTunes, Norton, Adobe and Facebook - to support this vast array of
additional content and services now available to gamers through their PC, console and
mobile devices. Together, these brands and services promote enhanced gaming enjoyment and
provide entertainment not just for one person, but for the entire family.
Joni Shakles states, "The gaming arena is an exciting and fast-evolving marketplace
which has changed almost beyond recognition in a few short years. Retailers can benefit
from the availability of these products within the convenience market as it attracts a
wider demographic into their stores. Additionally, it makes a more convenient shopping
experience for the consumer who can purchase product at any time of the day due to the
longer opening hours independent stores offer."
Offering gaming products into independents has allowed epay to offer a more diverse
product range to their retailers, increasing their offering to consumers and driving
footfall to places where normally would be suited for smaller individual purchases. To
find out more and to increase your footfall, contact epay on 0844 800 0233.

A Powerful New Voice -- Amity Releases Her Music Video, "Me and My Guitar"
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Budding singer, songwriter Amity is bringing her unique brand of smart, catchy and introspective music to the world. Her newest song, "Me and My Guitar," has been released on iTunes; the official music video is available on YouTube by visiting http://www.AmityVideo.com.
Often described as a cross between Colbie Calliat and Adele, Amity's bright voice, insightful lyrics and upbeat guitar work make a powerful musical statement. "Me and My Guitar" is a joyous turn on a difficult subject--learning how to accept yourself.
"'Me and My Guitar' is about discovering the essential happiness of living out who you are," says Amity. "Life is so full of turns and choices, but there are moments of transparency when we can identify the direction that truly resonates. It's like looking out over the city from the highest vantage point. You can see how all the pieces fit together, and you know exactly where you want to go."
"Me and My Guitar" is part of a recently released EP, which includes "I Remember it All" and "The Other Side."
The new release is just the latest milestone in Amity's fast-rising music career. Earlier this year, she performed with the Les Paul Trio and Dave Rollans at a Les Paul tribute in Beverly Hills. In addition to performing "Me and My Guitar," Amity sang with the Les Paul Trio, showing off her chops in her original rendition of the jazz classic, "How High the Moon."
Though Amity is gratified by her recent success, her prime motivation is sharing her music.
"I hope that 'Me and My Guitar' can add a little something to a person's day," says Amity, "whether it is a smile, an idea, or a little dance move."
"Me and My Guitar" was mixed by Eric Boulanger, mastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab and recorded by Oz Fritz. The song can also be found at Amazon.com and other online outlets.
In addition to her music, Amity cofounded Our Kids Sake, a non-profit charity organization devoted to helping homeless children in Sonoma County, California.
Kensington Makes Your iPhone & Other Valuables Unforgettable With New Proximo Products--Keep, Track, and Get Back Items You Can't Afford to Lose
App-Enabled Proximity Monitoring System Lets You Know Where Valuables Are At All Times--You Will Never Lose Them Again
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.(TM) mobile device accessories, today introduced Proximo(TM), an App-enabled proximity monitoring system that empowers iPhone 5/4S owners to know where their smartphone, keys and valuables are at all times. Proximo delivers a unique way to track multiple valuables with a last-seen map pin-drop feature, an active proximity dashboard and extended battery life on both its Fob and Tag. The new Proximo Starter Kit includes the Proximo(TM) App to track your iPhone and valuables, a Fob to attach to your keys, and one Tag to always find a valuable item of your choice. For those who want to track additional items they simply don't want to lose -- like a briefcase, a handbag, or a car -- Kensington offers a separate, single Proximo Tag you can add to your kit.
Proximo(TM) works by setting up a wireless connection between the iPhone and key Fob or Tag using Bluetooth® Smart Technology. Compatible with iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S, Proximo's App dashboard is "always on" and can track up to five items concurrently. The proximity distance (sensitivity) of each key Fob and Tag can be personalized. Proximo's App dashboard shows the proximity of each Fob and Tag. Pushing a button on the Fob or tapping "Find Fob" icon from the Proximo App dashboard triggers an alarm that helps the user locate their phone, keys or other valuable items.
Every 3.5 Seconds, a mobile phone is lost or stolen. For today's always connected mobile users, a smartphone is more than just expensive to replace--it is often the "keeper" of a tremendous amount of personal, confidential and work related information too. According to a 2011 report[1] by AVG, 42% of US and European smartphone users surveyed had lost their device while in transit. Never worry again about leaving anything important behind with Proximo. It's designed to help you Keep, Track and Get Back what is most essential to you:
Keep--Keep your iPhone in close range with the handy Bluetooth 4.0 Fob. It alerts you with a customizable proximity alarm the minute you move a set distance away from your phone, so you never leave it behind again.
Track--The Proximo App dashboard keeps track of up to five items, including a customizable active proximity meter, so you always know how far away you are from them. If you get out of range, a GPS function allows you to track your items on a map.
Get Back--Working hand-in-hand with the Proximo App, Bluetooth 4.0 Tags help you locate your most important things at any given time. Tag up to five items, such as the Fob, your purse, bag or car, and gain instant peace of mind.
"Proximo eliminates the everyday anxiety that so many consumers experience when worrying about losing, or having to search for, their most valuable possessions," said Juan Rodriguez, Senior Global Product Manager at Kensington. "We know mobile phones in particular are an essential part of life to our customers, and that more than 70 million smartphones are reported lost or stolen each year. When you consider the threat to your sensitive data, your downtime and the cost of recovering your lost phone, you can understand why we developed Proximo."

Securifi Almond+ 802.11ac Wireless Smart Router Aims To Revolutionize The Smart Home Era
Only $99, First-of-its-Kind Product to be Unveiled at the 2013 International CES with Kickstarter Campaign to Start Soon
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Securifi today introduced the world to Almond+, the first color touchscreen Wireless Router featuring an integrated Smart Home hub. This amazing device not only delivers blazing fast wireless connectivity via dual band 802.11ac wireless technology, but also adds the compelling features of home automation to its list of capabilities. The Securifi team, which is pleased to announce it will be showing Almond+ to the public for the first time at the 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, NV (Jan 8-11, 2003, booth # 74109, Eureka Park Tech Zone, Venetian Hotel & Casino), is also close to launching a Kickstarter campaign for support to perfect and launch the product.
The latest break-through product from Securifi, Almond+ builds off of the success of its predecessor, the Almond Wireless Router, which consumers voted the "#1 Best Rated Wireless Router" on Amazon.com. Featuring Plug-N-Play connectivity and an easy-to-use color touch screen (2.8 , 320 x 240) interface that allows users to setup without the need of a PC, Mac or CD, users can access the internet in seconds. And its patent pending design is not only elegant but also highly functional with its unique shape and small footprint. When mounted on the wall, its innovative recessed connectors hide all cables so there is no visible clutter.
One of the fastest routers (1,167Mbps) on the planet, Almond+ is also a highly capable Smart Home hub integrated with Zigbee and Z-Wave technologies for the ultimate in home automation. And, thanks to the emergence of always-connected Smartphones and the App market, Almond+ features both an iOS and an Android App that allows users to access and control the device from anywhere. Right out of the box, Almond+ supports hundreds of existing sensors in the market - it's truly the first touchscreen Wireless Router for the Smart Home era!
Some great examples of how the Almond+ Smart Home hub can be used include:
-- Save Money: Turn on/off heating in the house from work.
-- Protect your Home: Receive a notification if a door or window is opened
so you know when someone enters your house.
-- Energy Efficient: Control the lights at home by turning them on/off
remotely from your smartphone.
"We are creating a revolutionary new wireless router that is simple to use, features the fastest possible connectivity speeds and delivers the ultimate connected home automation experience to help make people's lives easier and their world a smarter place," said Rammohan Malasani, founder & CEO, Securifi. "Ever since the introduction of Wi-Fi more than a decade ago, the way most of us interact with this technology hasn't changed much at all. We are confident that the market is ready and we are looking to backers on Kickstarter to help us bring this exciting new product to market and share in our success."
Malasani continued: "Many people still find Wi-Fi and wireless routers intimidating to setup and manage. And, this is in spite of the fact that some of the largest names in technology such as Apple, Cisco, Netgear, etc. have been actively making such routers for over a decade. From our past success with Almond, we know there is a large demand for something that truly meets the needs of the consumer."
The Kickstarter campaign will be dedicated to funding Almond+ for the final production, marketing and promotion of the product, including international versions compatible with power plugs in the UK, Europe, Japan & Australia. The campaign funding goal is $250,000 USD.
About Securifi
Based in Taiwan, Securifi features a dedicated team of experienced engineers whose main goal is to create premium consumer electronics products and make them available at non-premium prices. Its first product, Almond, is the world's first Wi-Fi router with a touchscreen interface - this means no need to connect to a PC or Mac to setup! More than a critical success, Almond proved wildly popular with consumers. Within 3 months of its release, it beat hundreds of other similar products to become the #1 Best Rated Wireless Router on Amazon.com. A quantum leap over existing routers on the market today, Almond's natural design is not only elegant but also highly functional. For more information, visit http://www.securifi.com.

SANUS® Focuses on TV Safety at CES 2013, Showcases New iPad® and iPad® mini Mounts, Media Furniture and A/V Racks in Central Hall Booth # 9432
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A veteran exhibitor of the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES), SANUS is excited to participate in the annual trade show yet again this year where the brand will showcase many new products, including iPad and iPad mini mounts, furniture stands, Stackable Skeleton Racks and other A/V accessories.
Another main focus at CES, SANUS will be talking with attendees about the growing concern of TV tip-over injuries with an urge to consumers to take the proper safety precautions and mount all household TVs or secure them with a safety strap. Recent reports released by Safe Kids Worldwide and the Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed why consumers should be concerned with this issue: A child dies every three weeks from unsecured TVs tipping and thousands more people are treated in emergency rooms every year with TV-related injuries. The research also shows these type of injuries have increased 31 percent in the last 10 years. SANUS has partnered with Safe Kids Worldwide and will be talking to CES visitors--in addition to launching a consumer outreach campaign and the website TVsafety.org--in hopes to increase awareness of this important issue while providing information about products, such as TV wall mounts and safety straps, that can help prevent TV-related injuries from occurring.
For a preview of the many products that will be on display in SANUS booth # 9432, including TV mounts, iPad and iPad mini mounts, furniture, racks and other A/V accessories, please visit http://www.sanus.com/ces. The SANUS CES press kit can be found online here.

Redspin Offers Mobile Device Security Assessment Service
New service from Redspin helps enable the productivity gains and cost-savings of mobile device usage at work (including BYOD) while minimizing mobile device security risks
CARPINTERIA, Calif., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Redspin, Inc., a leading provider of penetration testing and IT security assessments, today announced a new service that addresses the growing concerns over the security risks posed by the use of mobile devices in the workplace.
Redspin's Mobile Device Security Assessment combines policy development and other operational considerations to help organizations enable the appropriate and secure use of mobile devices (including BYOD) by implementing workable policies and effective controls.
The use of personal mobile devices at work has increased dramatically yet a recent survey concluded that "almost 80 per cent today's BYOD activity remains inadequately managed by IT departments." (Ovum, September 2012). BYOD usage not only multiplies the number of end-points but also increases the risk of loss, theft or hacking incidents, and introduces new threats such as mobile malware.
"Allowing personal mobile device use at work can result in significant improvements in productivity, employee satisfaction, and cost savings," said Daniel W. Berger, Redspin's President and CEO. "But without an adequate mobile device security program, the potential for those gains will be squandered.
In addition, since many people are already using their smartphones at work (whether allowed or not), we encourage all our clients to put mobile device security high on their list of 2013 IT priorities.
Redspin's Mobile Device Security Assessment utilizes automated scanning, surveys, and interviews to determine the existing usage profile of mobile devices within the organization. This approach helps to identify existing threats, vulnerabilities, and risks of current use. Recommendations for remediation consist of technology additions and/or restrictions, collaborative policy development, and user training.
About Redspin, Inc.

Avast Selects Nexway's In-Product Store Solution to Boost International Online Sales
PARIS, January 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Nexway, a premium e-commerce platform and digital marketing expert, announced that
Avast, a leading publisher of free antivirus software, including the world's most
widely-used consumer security software, with over 170 million protected devices, has
chosen to use Nexway In-Product Store (IPS) technology for worldwide online sales of its
digital products.
As part of the international agreement, Nexway supports Avast in achieving its
strategic goal to market its solutions and consumer products. Avast leverages Nexway's
innovative e-commerce technology which is integrated directly into its software products.
With Nexway's In-Product Store (IPS) solution, Avast can now market e-commerce offers to
customers inside the software, without requiring a traditional web-based e-commerce
redirection.
The new IPS technology creates a unique, friction-free e-commerce experience, enabling
the user to take advantage of multiple commercial offers, such as purchasing software
updates directly within the software for a streamlined shopping experience. The consumer
completes each step of the purchase process with a higher level of confidence, without
leaving the software. Nexway's IPS technology is a perfect match for Avast's business
model, which allows consumers to test the product before making any purchase. In-product
store offers can be targeted and personalized for each user segment, installed product or
for individual regions.
For the publisher, the benefit is immediate: conversion rates are increased,
acquisition of new customers is optimized and retention of existing customers is improved,
as well. Nexway's IPS technology offers new opportunities to drive online sales
strategically and tactically, by reaching customers more directly. The customer
relationship and brand awareness are strengthened, as the consumer feels closer to the
publisher. With Nexway's IPS technology, consumers are a click away from becoming
customers, as each installed product becomes a potential sales agent.
For global deployment of Avast IPS solution, Nexway relies on the support from its
multiple subsidiaries covering all major global markets (EMEA, NA, LATAM and APAC).
Additionally to the In-product store platform, Nexway has allocated resources from its
Digital Agency, which drives e-marketing campaigns for user acquisition, retention and
purchase optimization (e-CRM campaign and site optimization).
"Nexway has been selected to develop an In-Product Store e-commerce platform for
Avast," said Glenn Taylor, Avast vice president of sales. "Nexway challenged our existing
business model and proved to increase conversion. We performed extensive AB testing to
validate the Nexway solution, closely comparing In-Product-Store results with our
traditional web-based solution. We're very excited about the relationship and continued
opportunities to improve our business with Nexway," said Glenn Taylor, Avast vice
president of sales.
"This new partnership proves the success of our international strategy and expansion
into major global markets," said Gilles Fabre, Nexway managing director. "Working with an
industry leader like Avast is a huge reward for our team's effort. We're proud to have
gained Avast's confidence and to find our place in this global competition."

Garianno Lorenzo Introduces Revolutionary Cloning Technology
Garianno Lorenzo Confirms "Now You Can Clone The Dead!"
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Garianno Lorenzo will be releasing cloning technology with results so identical it fooled a forensic scientist.
Garianno Lorenzo will be launching "Uncore Sound Alchemy" - a technology based venture. Garianno Lorenzo is releasing a new software/hardware that will allow the user to create original audio authorships of any living or deceased person. The first version of the software to be released will be available under selective limited license only, according to the developers. The buzz heard around programmers in-the-know is that the user would be able to capture into the hardware a short sampling of any live or recorded person's voice, the software would then create an algorithm of that person's human voice box - allowing the user of the software to type the words, statements, speeches or singing into the software that the user would like the sampled voice to say or sing. According to Garianno Lorenzo, it will produce a flawless composition of whatever that user typed, while eliminating static and background noise from the source sample.
Computerized beta tests of this software/hardware combination have produced a scientifically and mathematically identical clone of that human's voice according to sources. So identical, it's reported that it fooled forensic audio specialists, and was completely indiscernible to the human ear. Garianno Lorenzo explains that tests were done using voice samples of Michael Jackson & John Lennon to create a music duet of the two iconic legends singing a new song composition that neither had ever sang before, without infringing on any copyrighted statements, passages or phrases that the two artist had ever used before. "It was a completely new original authorship, sang flawlessly in their original voices for the first time ever, by these two singers, years after their deaths" stated Garianno Lorenzo.
According to Lorenzo, tests were also done using voice samples from several unnamed prominent high-profile deceased historical figures from the 1960's; forensic tests showed identical matches in their voices" said Lorenzo. He continued to state, "A conversation between two of these powerful men was created completely within the software, a conversation that never took place but mathematically matches their voices perfectly, and sounds to the human ear exactly like the two men did have this conversation. This software would allow the user to make anyone say or sing anything, without limitation".
Other software already exists in the marketplace, which does something remotely similar to what Lorenzo's passion project will do, but does not come close to the capability and possibilities of Lorenzo's software. Legendary film critic Roger Ebert, on the Oprah Winfrey Show demonstrated the existing technology, but Garianno Lorenzo promises that his new technology will go far beyond the capability of any current software in this realm, once released.
Garianno Lorenzo is working with Tolga Katas, and a team of programmers from around the globe, rumored to include legends like: John "Captain Crunch" Draper and Kevin Mitnick amongst others. This is the same Tolga Katas that had Steve Wozniak of Apple Computers on the board of his former company. Katas is known for pushing the envelope of innovation. Lorenzo has worked secretly on this technology, and has never issued a press release - until now.
Garianno Lorenzo believes that this type of technology is the future of the music and film industry. It reportedly gives the artist the ability to sing a duet of a completely new song with any deceased recording artist. Once released, this could open up creativity to limitless possibilities and it could destroy the laws of copyright infringement as currently written. Lorenzo states, "This is about the freedom of personal expression, our cherished first amendment".
Garianno Lorenzo confirms that the marketing name of the software, when released will be named FOE (Freedom Of Expression). Welcome to the brave new world, order.

A multicultural metropolis that counts more than 200 nationalities among its
residents, the UAE is used to welcoming the world to its doorstep. And with that in mind,
it is fitting to hear that the UAE is bidding to hold the 2020 World Expo in Dubai: as is
apparent to the millions of people who live in or visit the emirate every year, innovation
and global interconnectedness are woven into the very fabric of the city.
Under the theme Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, Dubai is building its bid on
three key sub-themes representing the forces that inspire global development:
sustainability (lasting sources of energy and water), mobility (smart systems of logistics
and transportation), and opportunity (new paths to economic development). If the bid is
successful, as many as 25 million visitors will be expected to stream into the emirate's
purpose-built exhibition space, Dubai Trade Centre Jebel Ali, over a six-month period in
2020.
The UAE would become the first country in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia
region to hold a World Expo. And the event would represent another milestone in the
150-year history of the World Expo movement, which began in Hyde Park, London in 1851 and
has since educated and entertained millions of people across the world: for the first
time, as much as 70% of visitors to a World Expo in Dubai would be international.
A 2020 World Expo in Dubai would also coincide with the UAE's Golden Jubilee. In the
41 years since the country was founded it has established itself as a leader among the
fast-emerging economies of the region; by the time it reaches its half-century, the UAE
will have further cemented its position as a key trade and tourism hub linking East and
West, and North and South. The country is within a four-hour flight of nearly one-third of
the world's population, and so the opportunity to glimpse the very latest in
technological, architectural and cultural advancements, is likely to prove irresistible to
a worldwide audience.
Dubai is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host the 2020 World
Expo, including Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo
(Brazil). The winning city will be announced in November 2013 following a vote by the 161
member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions - the international body
responsible for overseeing the bidding, selection and organisation of World Expos. Many of
the world's best-known inventions, including the telephone and typewriter, were unveiled
to the public for the first time at past World Expos; who knows what might emerge from
Dubai in 2020?

Cox Continues Investment in Personal Video Experience
Reveals Next Generation App at 2013 Consumer Electronics Show
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Before a crowd of more than 100 media, analysts and industry leaders, Cox Communications revealed its next generation mobile app that delivers a uniquely personal video experience and sets the stage for the future of the second screen experience.
Cox President Pat Esser was joined by Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers to demonstrate the application currently being developed by Cox that personalizes the video experience for its customers, based on customer preferences and viewing habits.
"We are delivering a viewing experience that is more personal by putting customers in command of the content they most enjoy," said Esser on stage at a press conference held at the Wynn Hotel.
Partnering with Cisco, Cox design engineers have developed a mobile application that will first debut on the iPad and feature:
-- 90 live TV channels
-- Access to On DEMAND content
-- TV and tablet integration, including the ability to use the tablet as a
remote control for Cox's Advanced TV program guide, Trio(TM)
-- Personalized video content recommendations, powered by Trio
"For more than a year our customers have been able to watch live linear channels via the iPad inside the home," Esser said, referring to Cox TV Connect, the company's proprietary app which allows customers to experience live TV on their mobile devices.
"This new app offers a user experience that is unlike any other in that it is intuitive and easily activated by a simple touch of the iPad screen. The unique user experience powered by touch is inherently more engaging," described Esser. "The interactive content is driven by personal viewing history and individual profiles. It provides an enhanced live TV experience and allows easy access to our extensive On Demand library and authenticated programmer content."
Cox plans to integrate all of its mobile applications into this one app, which is yet to be named. Extending the application to additional devices is expected by the end of the year.
Cox's demonstration follows a series of announcements about its proprietary video products and services, including personalized recommendations through its Trio Program Guide. Launched in November 2012, Cox's enhanced Trio Program Guide enables customers to:
-- Receive personal recommendations for up to eight users in a household,
based on the movies and shows they already love to watch
-- "Like", "dislike," or "suspend" recommendations, further improving the
recommendations they receive
-- Navigate TV Listings faster and easier with additional time slots
-- Pause live TV from any TV in the Whole Home DVR network
Esser highlighted the success of the recommendation engine during the presentation. Cox is the first and only U.S. multichannel video operator to offer individualized recommendations for video on the television and on the second screen.
"Cox's video product development is guided by extensive customer research," said Cox Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer Len Barlik while demonstrating Trio Program Guide and the application to media following Esser's presentation.
Continued Barlik, "We make a point to ask our customers what they value. Our customers tell us they want easier access to the content that is most relevant to them. The investments we have made to deliver these new features puts our customers in command of the content that meets their uniquely personal interests."
Personalized recommendations are enabled by ThinkAnalytics; metadata delivered by Tribune Media Services.
"Cox is bringing a new, personal video experience to U.S. consumers that delivers on their vision to offer every subscriber the most relevant, compelling and exciting video experiences, integrated across screens and linked to social networks," said John Chambers, chairman and chief executive officer, Cisco. "Having been a proud partner with Cox for many years, we are delighted they have chosen Videoscape Unity, combining the best of Videoscape and NDS, to help them realize this vision."
"Cox is on the mark with its personal video approach across multiple screens," said Greg Ireland, research manager, multiscreen video, IDC. "The recommendation engine and second screen app are game changers and show Cox is on the leading edge of today's video experience."
