Ugly Christmas Sweater Company Announces Generous Donation Campaign
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tipsy Elves (http://www.TipsyElves.com), the Christmas sweater specialty store started by long time college friends Evan Mendelsohn and Nicklaus Morton, has been keeping its elves busy this off-season. The company has not only revamped its holiday collection with fresh sweater designs and accessories, but it has also been planning a huge donation campaign. With its "$1 for 1 Like" initiative on Facebook, the company is hoping to donate upwards of $60,000 in sweaters and other warm clothing items.
Tipsy Elves was started in early 2011 by Mendelsohn and Morton after they realized that the Christmas sweater market was underserved. "Ugly Christmas sweater" or "tacky Christmas sweater" parties have been a holiday staple for several years, but there are very few places to actually buy these sweaters. When they showed their first few designs to their friends, the reactions were promising. After a few months of designing and planning, their Los Angeles warehouse was stocked with thousands of Christmas sweaters and accessories. Tipsy Elves received some impressive coverage in its first season, including a feature on the Today Show, People Magazine and In Touch Weekly, as well as sweater cameos on several TV shows, including ABC's Wipeout.
Mendelsohn and Morton have stayed busy in the off-season adding new designs and revamping the Tipsy Elves website. New designs include the Yellow Snow Sweater, the Candy Cane Vest, and the Reindeer Double Date Ski Cardigan. They have also stocked up with sweaters in dog and youth sizes.
The duo also rolled out a new website, which is now even easier to use for the eggnog-impaired customer. "We want to make the customer experience fun and easy," Mendelsohn stated. "We now offer live phone support, faster checkout options, and reduced shipping rates for both domestic and international orders," he added. Outside of the United States, Canada is the second biggest source of sales for the company.
Tipsy Elves also gives a large chunk of its profits to charities that benefit impoverished families and children. Last year, the founders attended a Christmas party hosted by a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization and distributed thousands of dollars of sweaters to families attending. The provisionally-approved CIP V5 standards address a wider spectrum of cyber-security
technologies than were addressed in previous versions, and in particular the draft V5
standards address and encourage the use of hardware-enforced Unidirectional Security
Gateways.
Unidirectional Gateways are a secure alternative to firewalls, and are used in
defense-in-depth security architectures for the control systems which operate the power
grid. Like firewalls, the gateways integrate control system data sources with business
information systems through Electronic Security Perimeters. Unlike firewalls, the gateways
cannot introduce security vulnerabilities as a result of this integration. The gateway
hardware is "deterministic" - no misconfiguration of any software can cause the gateway
hardware to put the safety or the reliability of industrial servers at risk.
CIP auditors increasingly encounter hardware-enforced unidirectional communications
technologies in their practice, and as a result, NERC publications increasingly address
the topic. Members of the CIP version 5 drafting team point out that this version of the
CIP standard was carefully written to encourage the use of strong security technologies in

When the Samsung Galaxy S III hit the market a few months ago, the smartphone world
was buzzing, with many rushing out to get their hands on one of the most feature-packed
mobile devices to date. Then, not long ago, rumours began to emerge about a smaller, mini

In most cases, auctions will take place after the ICANN's Initial Evaluation is
released, the Objection period ends and after GAC early warnings are issued. However, in
some cases, it will be appropriate to conduct the auction prior to those dates if all
parties agree.

Canada is ready for mobile payments
This new mobile payment solution arrives in Canada at a time when
smartphone growth is accelerating among Canadians. A recent
Harris/Decima poll shows that 44 per cent of Canadians said they now own a smartphone, and within that group, 47 per cent said they are interested in using mobile payments.
"We've seen firsthand how quickly demand can build in other aspects of
mobile financial services such as mobile banking, and based on the
feedback from our clients we see mobile payments growing rapidly in
Canada in the coming years," noted Mr. Williamson.
Forecasts for mobile commerce suggest that it will become a significant

HALO Report lists Tech Coast Angels as Most Active in 1H 2012
Organization Raises Over $1 Million in Q3 2012; Over $12.5 Million in First Three Quarters
IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the most recent Halo Report highlighting angel group investment activity and emerging trends for the first six months of 2012, Tech Coast Angels (TCA) topped the list of the most active angel investment network in the United States (total number of deals) and putting the most money to work in the country (total number of dollars). The Halo Report is a collaborative project between Silicon Valley Bank, Angel Resource Institute and CB Insights.
TCA raised more than $1 million of total investment in five companies during the period from July - September 2012. The companies include Garden Organics, SignNow, AnyMeeting, Nanoogo and mSIGNIA.
For the first three quarters of 2012, the organization funded 23 deals for a total of approximately $5 million in direct TCA investment, and raised over $12.5 million through its five regional networks (Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Inland Empire and Central Coast).
