All Northern Colorado Hospitals Now Connected To CORHIO Health Information Exchange
Banner Health and University of Colorado Health's Northern Colorado Hospitals Enhance Patient Care by Exchanging Vital Information with Community-Based Providers
DENVER, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CORHIO, the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, announced today that all six northern Colorado hospitals are connected to the health information exchange (HIE). By connecting to CORHIO's secure network, hospitals in the region operated by University of Colorado Health (UCHealth) and Banner Health are electronically sharing vital patient information with community-based providers across the region and the state.
Health care providers that connect to the HIE help their patients obtain higher quality patient care with less hassle by communicating clinical information and test results faster and more accurately between offices and appointments. Better communication between providers improves care coordination, reduces delays in patient care, and minimizes costly duplicative medical tests.
UCHealth is the new health system formed from a partnership between Poudre Valley Health System and the University of Colorado Hospital. Memorial Health in Colorado Springs officially joins UCHealth today, October 1. In northern Colorado, UCHealth operates Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland which are connected to the HIE.
Banner Health, based in Phoenix, owns and operates 23 hospitals. Its four Colorado hospitals connected to the HIE include East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, McKee Medical Center in Loveland, North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, and Sterling Regional MedCenter in Sterling.

The CORHIO HIE gives physicians and other authorized medical care providers access to important health information about their patients including hospital discharge notifications, lab test results, X-ray, MRI and other imaging reports, physician transcription reports and referral information. Later, the network will be upgraded to include patient medication lists, allergies and immunizations.

Operating system (OS), metadata and backup sets are separated and stored on three different drive offerings inside the box: high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) for OS data and RPM disks for metadata and the backup storage pool. RIIS Develops Unprecedented New Mobile Security Tool to Stop Android Decompilation in Its Tracks
HoseDex2Jar prevents hackers from using Dex2Jar to obtain Android app source codes

An important topic, as the Android marketplace grows and developers are unwittingly releasing apps with back doors allowing people to potentially obtain credit card information and database logins to back-end systems. Android apps are client-side applications which presents a greater security threat because the actual code for the app is downloaded onto the user's mobile device.
Dex2Jar
Android runs applications in .dex format. Dex2Jar is the only tool available to convert Android APK's back into Java .jar files. This allows someone to decompile the .jar file using JD-GUI or JAD into readable source code. Once done, all proprietary source code and other sensitive information stored on backend databases are vulnerable.
HoseDex2Jar
RIIS knew if they could figure out a way to stop Dex2Jar from functioning, they could protect Android apps from being decompiled at all, thus protecting the apps from malicious attackers. RIIS started investigating to see if Dex2Jar had any limitations they could expose. HoseDex2Jar was born.

New Social App Makes it Easier to Express Opinion during Presidential Debates

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- If you like what you are hearing during this week's presidential debate, tap the top part of your screen. Don't like it? Tap towards the bottom. It's all part of the feedback interface of Ponderoo, a new mobile app that gives users the power to express their opinions, and understand how thousands of others are reacting, during live events like Wednesday's debate, all in real-time.
The free app could have immediate influences on the presidential race, as public reactions continue to impact the direction of the campaigns. With a tight race heading towards the election, growing importance is being placed on the first presidential debate this Wednesday night, October 3rd.

The app works by users first entering a "Pond" -- a shared live event, like Wednesday's live TV broadcast of the debate. Once in the Pond, the user's screen will display a midline. A tap, or "ripple", on the user's device screen above the midline indicates a positive opinion in real-time. Rippling below the midline indicates a negative opinion. Users can also choose to display the "world", which shows an aggregated opinion line of everyone in the Pond.
Ponderoo was developed for live social interaction scenarios, including TV, concerts, and sporting events.

TI 2.5-A isolated gate driver doubles device lifetime, extends temperature range
Isolated driver offers 40-percent faster propagation delays for industrial applications
DALLAS, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) today introduced an isolated gate driver for insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and MOSFETs that is 40 percent faster than equivalent optical gate drivers. The input TTL logic and output power stage in the ISO5500 are separated by a capacitive, silicon dioxide (SiO2) isolation barrier that doubles the lifetime of the device compared to optocouplers and magnetic isolators. When used with isolated power supplies, the device provides for safer, more reliable electronics by blocking high voltages, isolating ground and preventing noise currents from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. The ISO5500 provides over-current protection, while an under-voltage lockout circuit monitors the output power supply to ensure sufficient gate drive voltage in motor control, motion control, industrial inverter and switch-mode power supply applications. If the output supply drops below 12 V, the gate driver outputs transitions to a logic-low state, turning off the power transistor. This prevents the device from overheating and damage. The new gate driver is qualified for operating at extended temperatures from -40C to +125C.
To provide secondary power supply to the ISO5500, the SN6501 transformer driver can be used in conjunction with a transformer, rectifier and a regulator. The result is a small, low-cost, high-efficiency, low electro-magnetic interference (EMI), solution for generating the isolated power to the system.
