LOUIS, July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sigma-Aldrich® Corporation (NASDAQ:SIAL) announced today its Supelco® brand launched the Ascentis® Express C18, 5 micron particle size column to improve speed and increase efficiencies in high purity liquid chomatography (HPLC) procedures. The new columns are based on innovative Fused-Core® particle technology, which enables the production of columns capable of achieving greater speed and efficiencies than conventional 5 micron particle columns. The Ascentis Express family provides scientists a premier choice for performance improvement on traditional HPLC systems and eliminates the concerns associated with smaller particle columns.
The new columns deliver the speed and resolving power of conventional 3 micron particle columns, as well as provide greater ruggedness and a longer life cycle than columns using sub 2 micron particles. Operating back pressures of the new column family are comparable to columns using 5 micron particles, ensuring pressure limits are not exceeded in conventional HPLC instrumentation. The Ascentis Express line is scalable from ultra high purity liquid chromatography (UHPLC) to legacy HPLC systems.

[http://www.codetwo.com/sync-for-icloud/?sts#80 ] - a tool that helps iCloud users easily
sync Microsoft Outlook folders and items with their iCloud accounts.
The synchronization between Outlook and iCloud was made possible earlier by Apple in
their iCloud Control Panel for Windows. The solution, however, does not solve the problem
of Outlook default folders synchronization as it adds additional folders from iCloud and
requires users to copy all their existing data to them manually.
CodeTwo Sync for iCloud fixes this issue by automatically synchronizing Outlook and
iCloud folders inside the mail client. Finally, users' contacts, tasks and calendars are
constantly updated on their mobile devices as well as in Outlook, no matter where they
are.

Enterprise Embrace of Android Grows as Smartphone Activations Nearly Double, but iOS Still the Leading Platform According to Good Technology's Q2 2012 Device Activation Report
Mobility within Government/Public Sector, Manufacturing and Retail Industries Grows
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology (http://www.good.com), the leader in secure enterprise mobility solutions, today released its second quarter device activation report. The full report (http://media.www1.good.com/documents/Good_Q2_2012_Data_Report.pdf) provides a breakdown of smartphones and tablets activated by Good's enterprise customers to pinpoint notable changes and trends in device and mobile operating system usage within corporations. This quarter's results demonstrated that while Android smartphone usage within the enterprise nearly doubled, iOS continues to be the dominant smartphone platform, led primarily by the iPhone 4S.
On average, the two most recently released iPhones and iPads drove the majority of activations between April 1 and June 30, 2012. The iPhone 4S was the top device, driving nearly twice as many activations as any other smartphone, with 30.8 percent of activations for the quarter.
Android Smartphone Activations Nearly Double in Q2 and Windows Phone Joins the Race
While Apple iOS device activations still account for more than twice the number of Android activations in the enterprise, corporate use of Android smartphones and tablets grew 10 percent quarter over quarter, capturing 36.9 percent of total activations, led by the popular Samsung Galaxy SII, which ranked fifth in top devices this quarter at 4.6 percent. Samsung's Galaxy SII was followed by the Motorola Droid Razr at 3.2 percent of total activations. Both of these Android smartphones outpaced the original iPad and iPhone 3S, which ranked seventh and eighth, down slightly from their respective fifth and sixth place spots last quarter.
Additionally, while tablet adoption by the enterprise continued to grow--dominated by the iPad, which accounted for 94.5 percent overall tablet activations-- smartphone usage still outnumbered tablet usage by three to one, accounting for 73 percent of total mobile device activations. Android saw another increase in this category for the quarter, with Android tablets capturing 5.5 percent of total tablet activations, up from .07 percent last quarter.
Windows Phone made its debut in Good's data report this quarter, following the company's release of Windows Phone 7.5 support in April 2012. While Windows Phone only accounted for 1.2 percent of overall activations in Q2, this number may grow in future quarters with the rollout of Windows 8 and the introduction of additional Windows Phone devices.
Government, Manufacturing and Retail Industries Embrace Mobility
Good's data report also showed a notable shift in the use of mobile devices by government/public sector organizations, manufacturing and retail organizations. As compared to Q1 2012, government deployments rose from approximately five percent to eight percent of total activations, manufacturing rose from four to seven percent, and retail activations rose from three percent to five percent during the quarter. While these sectors have traditionally been slower to adopt mobility solutions, Good is seeing increasing numbers of its customers in these sectors ignite and grow their mobile deployments.

Microsoft Security Toolkit Delivers New BlueHat Prize Defensive Technology
EMET 3.5 Technology Preview helps make software more resistant to exploits with inclusion of BlueHat Prize finalist's ROPGuard.
LAS VEGAS, July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft Corp.'s Trustworthy Computing Group today released the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) 3.5 Technology Preview, which includes new Return Oriented Programming (ROP) defenses inspired by BlueHat Prize contest finalist Ivan Fratric. The EMET 3.5 Technology Preview is a freely available security tool that makes it more difficult for attackers to exploit vulnerabilities and gain system access. The BlueHat Prize competition, a program aimed at nurturing innovation in exploit mitigations through awarding more than $250,000 in cash and prizes, was launched by Microsoft one year ago at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas. The contest closed April 1, 2012, and the three finalists were named on June 21, 2012. The company will announce whether Fratric or another BlueHat Prize finalist will receive the grand prize of $200,000 at the company's Researcher Appreciation Party on Thursday, July 26, at approximately 10 p.m. PDT.

Fratric, who earned a Ph.D. in computer science and is a researcher at the University of Zagreb located in Zagreb, Croatia, submitted a unique solution called ROPGuard, which hinders attacks that leverage ROP. ROP is an advanced technique that attackers use to combine short pieces of benign code, already present in a system, for a malicious purpose. ROPGuard defines a set of checks that can be used to detect when certain functions are being called in the context of malicious ROP code and can help protect against attacks exploiting memory safety vulnerabilities.

5G WiFi, the 5(th) generation of Wi-Fi based on the IEEE 802.11ac standard, is a major evolutionary step from the existing 802.11a/b/g/n networks. 5G WiFi dramatically improves the wireless range in the home, allowing consumers to watch HD-quality video from more devices, in more places, simultaneously. Rainier Beer is not trying to raise money to restore the "R," instead, the legendary local beer is asking fans to take an active part in the restoration process by visiting RestoreTheR.com, and then completing a physical challenge on the website. For each challenge completed, one of the 250 light bulbs on the Rainier R sign will be lit up. Once all of the challenges are complete and all 250 light bulbs are lit, a select group of fans who participated in the challenges will be invited to attend a special lighting ceremony at the newly restored Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) to see the sign and celebrate the brand.
