New Tiles are now three times louder and include new Find Your Phone functionality, will be sold in over 3,000 T-Mobile US retail stores starting today.
SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Tile, makers of a tiny Bluetooth tracker and accompanying app, announced new hardware and an app update that includes the easiest Find Your Phone solution on the market. Customers can now find their misplaced smartphone or device from their physical Tile, any smart device (Android or iOS), or a web app. Tile has shipped more than two million of its Bluetooth trackers to help its global community stay connected to the things that matter most to them.
"We aim to help our global community of customers never lose anything ever again. Knowing that a cell phone is misplaced every 3.5 seconds, we created Find Your Phone, a solution that lives up to the experience our community members already know and love - it's simple, intuitive, and most importantly, effective," says Mike Farley, CEO and co-founder of Tile. "This news is particularly timely as we are thrilled to expand the Tile community to include T-Mobile. As a disruptor in the mobility space, T-Mobile has attracted a customer base of loyal, tech-savvy people that we are now happy to keep connected to their phones and other things they need to keep their daily life running smoothly."
Tile will be sold in all 3,000+ T-Mobile (NYSE: TMUS) locations in the US starting today. This is particularly timely since its second-generation hardware allows you to find your phone via your Tile, a web app, or the cross-platform app on various devices.
"We start with revolutionary Un-carrier benefits and plans, and add the hottest devices and accessories to deliver what customers want in wireless," said Andrew Sherrard, Chief Marketing Officer for T-Mobile. "So it makes sense for T-Mobile to be the first to offer Tile in retail stores and give customers a totally new and incredibly cool way to keep track of their mobile lives."
The new Gen 2 hardware and app update that Tile is announcing today for its global community include:
-- A 3X louder tone (90 decibels) compared to first-generation Tiles for
quick and easy locating.
-- Find Your Phone, the easiest solution on the market. With phones
becoming such an essential tool for so many people, Tile's new
functionality works in three ways so Tilers can find their phones
quickly and easily:
-- Ring a phone within the 100-foot Bluetooth range by simply
double-pressing the "e" button on the Tile. The phone will ring even
if it's on silent or vibrate.
-- Turn Android and iOS devices into virtual Tiles with no hardware
needed. Simply download the app on multiple devices and then ring
any compatible devices or see them on a map.
-- A web app that allows customers to find their phone or tablet from
any web browser. Simply login to the website to ring a lost phone,
to see its last known location on a map, or to send message to the
lock-screen.
Customers can purchase second-generation Tiles at any T-Mobile store, T-Mobile.com, Amazon.com, and at thetileapp.com. The new app is available for free download at DownloadTile.com or in the App Store or Google Play.

LG Welcomes Football Season With Expanded Audio Lineup For Ultimate Game Day Experience
New Speakers Pair Versatility with Premium Sound for an Enhanced Listening Experience
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics USA today introduced an expanded family of wireless audio products, just in time for football season, when home entertainment is at an all-time high and sports enthusiasts are looking for the best game day experience possible. Highlights of the new lineup include rechargeable battery-powered, Bluetooth-enabled speakers that can deliver premium sound anywhere inside or outside the home, and a powerful home theater system for the most premium sound possible. The majority of new audio products will be available through select U.S. retailers starting October.
"Today's consumers are looking for entertainment innovations designed to match their ever-evolving lifestyles," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing, LG Electronics. "Sports enthusiasts are among the most passionate when it comes to elevating their game, and LG's speakers offer the connectivity and versatility to help them create the ultimate game day experience. Whether it's a surround sound system for your home theater or augmented sound for tailgating, LG is enhancing the most exciting sporting events of the season to a level that can only be matched by being in the stadium itself."
Delivering an Immersive Stadium Experience at Home or on the Go
The new battery-powered, Bluetooth-enabled LG speakers were developed for consumers who want the convenience of portability but are uncompromising in their expectations for high sound quality. LG understands that not all game day viewing party needs are the same, so the lineup has three different battery-powered portable speaker variations for users to choose from: the LG Music Flow P7 and P5 and the SoundPop 360.
The LG Music Flow P7 is a 20-watt speaker with up to 10 hours of battery life and that can be controlled using LG's intuitive Music Flow mobile app. Its sister speaker, the LG Music Flow P5, is an even lighter weight 10-watt model that delivers powerful sound with up to eight hours of battery life.
With the TV Sound Sync feature, either speaker can be connected to a compatible LG TV Bluetooth-capable TV for more private listening or an all-out game day experience. For guests who would rather listen to music than commercials, Multipoint allows the speakers to connect to multiple Bluetooth devices at once, unlike most Bluetooth speakers that only allow one controlling device at a time. Plus, the Dual Play feature lets users connect their device to two speakers at once for increased sound potential.
As part of LG's Music Flow series, the speakers support LG's Auto Music Play feature, which automatically begins playing music when the audio source comes within range. Both represent LG's commitment to expanding its wireless audio category to offer the most advanced products with compelling design and versatility.
For the more active listener, LG SoundPop 360, which was designed to mirror the shape of a drinking tumbler, is a cylindrical speaker that has a 360 degree range so music sounds great regardless of the listener's relative position. It's perfect for listening in large groups and the party can go well into the night with up to 20 hours of battery life.
Elevating Game Day with Enhanced Versatility and Power
Also joining the audio lineup is LG's X-Boom Theater (Model LHB675) - a home theater system with Smart TV capability that delivers enhanced audio in a space-saving design. The X-Boom Theater produces thrilling, powerful sound thanks to a pair of tower speakers that boast 1000-watt total audio output with built-in subwoofers. The accompanying 3D Blu-ray player includes LG Smart TV functionality with access to streaming services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video and YouTube.* The LHB675 is also compatible with LG's Music Flow family of audio products via the Multi-room mode, which allows users to send audio from a CD or USB to LG Music Flow speakers.
Sound Worthy of Tailgating
The LG Cube Speaker System (Model OM7550) exemplifies LG's expanded offerings for the sports enthusiast who wants intense sound, even away from home. A perfect complement to any tailgate party, the Cube Speaker System offers a powerful combined 1000-watt speaker and subwoofer. It features two handy USB ports and a portable audio input, as well as Multipoint Bluetooth with NFC pairing that allows users to easily stream from compatible smartphones and tablets. For added fun, multi-color LED lighting pulses to the beat of the music, while an optional tripod provides the option to place the OM7550 cube in any desired location.
The lineup of home theater solutions will be available at U.S. retailers as follows. Models and suggested pricing include:
*Wireless Internet connection & certain subscriptions required and sold separately. Content and services vary by product and are subject to change without notice. 3D TV sold separately. Viewing 3D video content may cause discomfort. Visit http://www.lg.com for details. Blu-ray is a trademark of Blu-ray Disc Association.

Raritan Reinvents the Serial Console Server for IT and Network Administrators
-- Dominion SX II's new hardware and software design delivers a more responsive and easy-to-use serial console server for managing equipment from anywhere --
SOMERSET, N.J., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raritan, a leading provider of data center management and rack power distribution solutions, today introduced the Dominion® SX II - the next-generation IP-based serial console server for remote access and control of servers, routers, switches, and other equipment with serial ports. With faster connection to IT devices from anywhere, the SX II helps administrators resolve incidents and problems even faster.
"By managing equipment from wherever IT experts are located, whether at the rack or miles away, companies can dramatically reduce IT support costs, staff travel time, and improve business uptime," says Richard Dominach, Director of Product Management at Raritan. "Our SX II has a new powerful hardware platform providing better performance and new productivity features to manage IT environments, where security, high availability and costs are top concerns."
The Dominion SX II builds on the success of its predecessor - the Dominion SX, one of the most widely deployed serial console servers. SX is used daily by IT and network administrators to manage more than a half million serial devices, including networking switches, routers, and firewalls; servers; power distribution units (PDUs); and, telecommunications gear.
Because the Dominion SX II controls IT devices through their serial ports, IT specialists can use the secure console server to monitor and manage any connected device, even when the network is down. Should a device hang, administrators can cycle the power on individual devices using the SX II and Raritan's PX intelligent rack PDUs.
SX II: Performance, Reliability, Security, Manageability and Productivity
All thirteen SX II models come with dual-power supplies (AC or DC), dual gigabit LAN connections with automatic failover, multiple methods of at-the-rack access and optional internal modem. Here are some of the Dominion SX II highlights:
-- More powerful hardware platform in a 1U rack-mountable appliance. A
1GHz CPU engine, an eight-fold increase in RAM, and up to 8 GB of flash
storage.
-- Supports up to 10 sessions per port, up to 200 total serial sessions.
Port configuration is 15 to 23 times faster, with order of magnitude
improvements in simultaneous connections, connection speed, and serial
processing.
-- Full CLI access and auto configuration for fast installation and
configuration changes. The SX II offers complete CLI access and
management via SSH, Telnet and web-browser, with convenient direct-port
access methods. Also automatic installation and configuration via USB
stick or TFTP server.
-- Autosensing DTE/DCE ports. For fast installations, the SX II supports
straight Cat5 connections to Cisco (and other compatible RJ-45 devices),
without rollover cables.
-- Government- and Military-grade security features. SX II supports
256-bit AES and FIPS 140-2 certified encryption, LDAP and Active
Directory authentication, and IPv6 networking.
-- Provides multiple forms of local at-the-rack access: Traditional RJ-45
serial port, mini-USB port for laptop connection, and a DVI- and
USB-based KVM console for connection to a rackmount keyboard tray, or
even a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch.
-- 3G/4G cellular modem support for optional connection to an external
modem for emergency access.
For enterprise-wide views and access to all IT equipment, Dominion SX II serial console servers - as well as Raritan's KVM-over-IP switches - can be aggregated onto a single command-and-control network with Raritan's centralized server management solution -- CommandCenter®.
SX II Availability
The Dominion SX II - which comes in 4-, 8-, 16-, 32- and 48-port models -- are available worldwide in early September through Raritan's extensive reseller channel and distributors. The SX II is easy-to-deploy, allowing you to set up access and manage IT equipment quickly.

Owlet Baby Care Receives $7M in New Funding, Product to Launch This Fall
PROVO, Utah, Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Owlet Baby Care, maker of the Smart Sock baby monitor, received an additional $7 million in funding, CEO Kurt Workman announces. The additional money comes as the company prepares for the public launch of its product this fall after two years of development and rigorous safety testing.
Of the $7 million, $6 million is from the company's Series A funding. The Series A round was led by Formation 8 (F8), with participation from Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes, out of his new fund Carpe Diem VC, and Owlet's previous investors Azimuth Ventures, ffvc, Eniac Ventures and Peak Capital. Formation 8 has a new $100-million hardware fund headed up by Lior Susan.
"We could not be happier to work with F8," Workman said. "There is no other venture capital firm that has more real world experience in hardware than F8. This is an exciting time at Owlet."
Owlet is also receiving another $1 million for participating in a government National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant. This grant and the Series A fundraising brings the total amount Owlet has raised to $9.2 million.
"There is no way that we could have raised our funds without pushing the entire company to the sole focus of creating an amazing product for parents," Owlet co-founder Jordan Monroe said. "Our new investor, Lior, was able to use the Owlet with his baby, as well as all of our competitors' products, and he fell in love with the Owlet Monitor. That was the biggest factor in making this investment happen."
The company is currently ramping up to make its Smart Sock available to the public, planned for this fall. The product is currently only available to early supporters and new supporters in limited production.
"This is going to be a crazy two years--we are planning to triple the size of the company and hopefully be in 50,000 homes by mid-2017," Monroe said.
More information about employment opportunities is available at OwletCare.com/Jobs.
The Owlet Smart Sock is the first of its kind among new smart baby monitors, aimed at giving parents peace of mind. The baby product market currently has monitors that require you to obsess over whether or not your child is OK because the monitors use only audio and video. The Owlet Baby Monitor tracks an infant's vital signs, including heart rate and oxygen levels, with the same technology used in hospitals--pulse oximetry--to alert you if your baby stops breathing, so that you have one less thing to worry about. The information from the monitor is relayed to parents' smartphones, allowing parents to check on their child from anywhere.
About Owlet Baby Care
Owlet Baby Care, Inc. was founded in 2013 by a team of passionate parents who wanted to bring themselves--and other parents around the globe--peace of mind and assurance by developing a monitor that tracks a baby's breathing and heart rate in real time. Using pulse oximetry, the same technology used in hospitals, the Owlet Smart Sock will send alerts, to the Base Station and via WiFi to a smartphone, if a baby were to stop breathing in the middle of the night or during nap time. The Owlet Baby Monitor is not a medical device. See the device in action by watching this video or visiting OwletCare.com.

Cinema Without 3D Glasses Finally About to Arrive, Conquering Television at the Same Time
MUMBAI, August 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Anglo-American technology company, Ying Group , looks all set to pull off the biggest
set of technological breakthroughs that the world's public has never seen in the 3D space
in many decades.
Just when people had accepted that 3D television had failed - even with the
sophisticated custom infra red 3D glasses - it comes roaring back with an upgrade to
cinema and television formats. And this time you don't need to buy new glasses, or even a
new TV set. Just bring your old TV and tune in.
Based upon sophisticated neuro-cognitive image modelling implemented directly into the
signal itself by powerful digital transformations at the pixel on pixel level within each
remastered digital frame, the technology operates at 8K down to 1K, and is also now fully
implemented across the tablet and smartphone platforms.
As Rosa Martinez, media executive at Ying Group explains, "It has taken our
Ying scientists and digital engineers eight years to crack the many challenges required to
bring this to the cinema screen and now also to the TV screen."
Abhijeet Thakar, senior director at Ying Group India - the new Indian division of Ying
Group, and currently in-charge of the discussions for the first broadcast trials, comments,
"We expect an announcement by early September telling the Indian public and now also to
the world that which Indian TV station will be the first broadcaster to use EDS."
Miles Adams, head of technology, who oversaw some of the recent tests for Indian
cinema says that, "The first Indian TV transmissions are now expected in September and if
you look at the samples here of both Hollywood content (see 'Avatar') and Bollywood
content (see Telugu trailer of 'Baahubali' and 'Dheevara' song clip from the film) then
you can see that the public has something quite special to look forward to."
Rosa Martinez and James Ashbey, the technology's inventor, had a conversation about
the relationship between EDS and the art form of film, and its place in the hierarchy of
film production. If the Indian TV broadcast tests are successful, then North American and
European TV audiences will be next to get their chance to enjoy and evaluate the
technology, but to get an early preview, click on to see this Batman Side By Side
Comaprison EDS - https://youtu.be/HQdH9uQFimI.
Ying Group believes that they have solved the biggest problems facing 3D
technology. As Rosa Martinez says, "3D's biggest problems were that people did not want
to wear the glasses, and they really only wanted to watch the top quality content to
justify the inconvenience of having to wear the glasses. Well EDS finally puts the
3DÂ glasses firmly in the dustbin of history and we expect an Indian broadcaster to
broadcast the EDS versions of 'Ben-Hur' and 'Gone with the Wind', both in full EDS 3D
without glasses. I think everyone is going to remember where they were the first time they
enjoyed their first full length film in our new remastered EDS formats."
Rosa then adds, "And of course Hollywood is going to see the biggest jump in its share
price in the last 30 years as the financial markets worldwide begin to realize that all of
those great classic films in the big film libraries can now be remastered into 3D without
glasses for the big screen and the small screen. It will be like digital discs for the
music industry, all over again, only this time the format is going to begin with a 100%
penetration - every TV set is ready for the DVD and Blu-ray discs. It took CD's, lasers
discs and DVD/Blu rays 30 years to achieve 80% penetration. EDS starts with 100%
penetration, on the first day. Global media has never seen anything like it before!"
Miles Adams further adds, "Yes, it took us a further two years to scale things down
from the cinema to the home television and broadcast formats, but I hope the readers and
viewers agree that it was worth it."
The Ying Group is hoping that EDS will give viewers a 2Dplus image on the computer
screens and televisions, and a full 3D image on the big cinema screens of the world and
all without glasses.
The first new image format in the last 40 years.Â
Abhijeet Thakar says, "As an Indian I feel a swell of pride in my chest that this is
happening first here. My countrymen and countrywomen should reflect just how far we have
come in 80 years. Mahatma would have been so proud, especially because EDS comes to the
rich and poor across our vast nation, all together on the same day. Only in India should
this be broadcasted first."
Cypress Introduces High-Throughput, Low-Power USB 3.0 Controller that Brings Seamless Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity to Laptops and Docks
New EZ-USB® GX3(TM) Controller Capitalizes on Migration to Thin USB Type-C Ports and Slimmer System Designs that Exclude Ethernet Ports
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced a new high-throughput, low-power SuperSpeed USB controller that converts Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) data to USB 3.0 data. The EZ-USB(® )GX3(TM) controller targets slimmer laptop designs that include an ultra-thin USB Type-C port and no bulky Ethernet port. GX3 provides comprehensive driver support for all major operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and Chrome, enabling seamless plug-and-play operation via a USB 3.0 port on any system, including laptops, tablets, docking stations, IP set-top boxes and smart TVs.
Cypress is demonstrating the EZ-USB GX3 controller, its EZ-USB SuperSpeed USB portfolio and its EZ-PD(TM) USB Type-C Power Delivery portfolio here at the Intel Developer Forum at booth number 910 in the USB Community from August 18-20, 2015.
Conventional USB 3.0 to GigE bridge solutions present designers with limited throughput performance and power management challenges. For throughput, converting GigE data packets to USB 3.0 data packets reduces the throughput of conventional USB 3.0 to GigE bridge controllers to around 700-800 Mbps. EZ-USB GX3 uses a proprietary data transfer mechanism that sends multiple GigE data packets in bursts over USB to provide 910-Mbps throughput, which is comparable to the 950-Mbps throughput of native GigE solutions. For power, it is difficult for a conventional USB 3.0 to GigE solution to support low-power modes of both the USB 3.0 and GigE standards, but GX3 offers a power-efficient solution for both with multiple power-saving modes.
"The Apple(®) MacBook(®) eliminated the Ethernet port years ago, and Ultrabooks and Chromebooks have followed suit, but consumers still want GigE connectivity to stream HD content and for other applications requiring high-bandwidth," said Mark Fu, Senior Marketing Director of the USB 3.0 product line at Cypress. "Our new EZ-USB GX3 solution seamlessly brings high-throughput GigE connectivity to any USB 3.0 system, whether via a standard USB Type-A port or the new USB Type-C port. GX3 further strengthens our SuperSpeed USB portfolio, and in conjunction with our groundbreaking, programmable EZ-PD(TM) USB Type-C Power Delivery solutions and our EZ-USB HX3 USB 3.0 Hub, Cypress can now enable a true one-cable docking solution for laptops, tablets and other portable devices."
The EZ-USB GX3 controller includes on-chip Gigabit Ethernet MAC and PHY support 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and other advanced power management features, including Wake-on-LAN, dynamic power saving modes during idle or light traffic, and an AutoDetach feature that "soft-disconnects" the GX3 from the USB host whenever Ethernet cable is unplugged. The USB PHY and controller are fully compliant with the USB Link Power Management (LPM) policy, supporting U0, U1, U2 and U3 low-power states. Furthermore, GX3 includes an IPv4/IPv6 packet Checksum Offload Engine (COE) to reduce CPU loading, providing IPv4 IP/TCP/UDP/ICMP/IGMP and IPv6 TCP/UDP/ICMPv6 checksum and generation.
The USB Type-C standard is gaining rapid support with top-tier PC makers by enabling slim industrial designs, easy-to-use connectors and cables, the ability to transmit multiple protocols, and 100W power delivery (PD)--a significant improvement over the previous 7.5W standard. The USB Type-C standard's 2.4-mm-high connector plug is significantly smaller than current 4.5-mm USB Type-A standard connectors. It also allows for transport of USB signals and DisplayPort signals on the same connector. More information on Cypress's USB Type-C and USB power delivery solutions is available at http://www.cypress.com/Type-C.
Availability
The CYUSB3610 EZ-USB GX3 controller is now sampling and is available in a 68-pin QFN package. Additionaly, Cypress offers a USB Type-C to Gigabit Ethernet Dongle Reference Design with complete hardware design files (schematics, board layout, etc.).
About Cypress's EZ-USB Portfolio
Cypress's SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) portfolio began with EZ-USB FX3(TM), the industry's only programmable SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) peripheral controller. The portfolio now includes the EZ-USB CX3(TM) camera controller, the EZ-USB FX3S(TM) RAID-on-Chip controller, the EZ-USB SD3 storage controller, the EZ-USB HX3(TM) hub controller and the EZ-USB GX3 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet bridge controller. Oracle Helps Organizations Power Customer Experiences with Latest Releases of Oracle Service Cloud and Oracle Social Cloud
-- Enables brands to leverage social channels and self-service communities to expand customer engagements and business insights
NEW YORK, Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CRM Evolution -- Oracle unveiled significant new functionality within Oracle Service Cloud and Oracle Social Cloud that helps organizations deliver better customer experience and drive more informed business decisions. The new social customer service capabilities enable brands to increase social engagement and business insights via a new community self-service solution, enhanced social service and incident routing, and extended social listening and analytics capabilities to private data sources.
Today more than one in three customers prefer to contact brands through social channels rather than by phone or email (Nielsen), and the distinction between social and traditional channels is eroding. To deliver the best possible customer experience across this expanding range of traditional and digital channels, customer care organizations need to provide a positive and unified experience where and when customers want, whether they are on Twitter, Facebook, customer communities or other social networks. Through a unified and modern customer experience across channels, organizations establish a competitive advantage.
The latest release of Oracle Service Cloud includes Community Self-Service, a new approach to web self service that brings community functionality directly into the core multi-channel web experience. Oracle Service Cloud now enables organizations to deliver a seamless experience between web service and community interactions, leveraging the power of customer knowledge to improve service operations. This helps organizations streamline the customer journey and lets customers quickly find an answer, while also driving efficiencies by reducing the overall requests to the contact center.
Gartner's research indicates that investment in Peer-to-Peer Communities drives support costs down and boosts profits. In fact, in a December 2014 research note, Nine CRM Projects to Do Right Now for Customer Service, "Gartner clients who are successful in this space are still seeing on average a 20% reduction in the creation of support tickets following the introduction of peer-to-peer communities," wrote, Michael Maoz, Vice President, Distinguished Analyst, Gartner, "Clients are seeing other business benefits as well. By enabling community-based support, clients have been able to recognize new sales opportunities and increase existing customer satisfaction, resulting in increased revenue in several of these cases."
Oracle is also introducing new workflow and automation capabilities between Oracle Social Cloud and Oracle Service Cloud that empower organizations to leverage the power of social insights and engagements. Business users can now attach contextual attributes and notes generated from posts or incidents identified by Oracle Social Cloud directly to the Oracle Service Cloud. By providing more customer information and context, organizations can improve service quality, drive efficiencies and improve resolution time as social posts are shared with the appropriate agents quickly.
The improved connectivity between Oracle Social Cloud and Oracle Service Cloud includes extended social listening and analytics to enterprise private-data sources such as the new Community Self-Service capability, survey data, chat and call logs. Organizations can now listen and analyze unstructured data and gain insights with terms, themes, sentiment and customer metrics, and can view private and public data side by side in the Oracle Social Cloud Relationship Management dashboard.
"In today's hyper-competitive business environment, understanding the voice of the customer is essential to providing exceptional experiences, whether on public social networks, across communities, or within high-touch contact centers," said David Vap, group vice president, product development, Oracle. "The updates to the Oracle Service Cloud and Oracle Social Cloud help businesses listen, identify and track social conversations, enabling them to quickly and efficiently respond to customers looking for answers, which helps foster a loyal group of brand ambassadors."
The latest enhancements to Oracle Social Cloud and Oracle Service Cloud extend Oracle's commitment to help organizations leverage social channels to enhance the customer experience and build on the recent introduction of Oracle's Twitter-enriched social customer service solution. For more information, attend Stephen Fioretti's session Accelerating Success with Modern Service in the Cloud at 3:10 p.m. eastern in A204 on Tuesday, August 18 at CRM Evolution in New York and visit us at Booth 300.

Toshiba Rolls Out Wireless Power Receiver IC For Quick Charging Mobile Devices
Wireless charging of mobile devices now as fast as charging by cable
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced it has launched a new wireless power receiver IC that will enable mobile devices to be charged wirelessly as fast as if they were connected to the charger via a cable. The new TC7764WBG is compliant with Qi(TM) V.1.1.2, the wireless low power charging standard defined by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which includes a dedicated specification for smartphones and mobile accessories.
Wireless charging allows adoption of a fully insulated case free of exposed charging ports, an advantage that is stimulating demand for waterproof and dustproof smartphones and other mobile devices. However, wireless charging has not always been as fast as charging by cable. Toshiba has addressed this problem by optimizing the circuit design of the TC7764WBG compared to its predecessor products, enabling maximum output power of 5W and maximum power conversion efficiency of 95 percent(1). This will allow wireless charger makers utilizing the new IC to achieve performance as fast as that offered by cabled chargers, with added benefits.
"Once the de facto standard for charging mobile devices, cabled chargers will be gradually displaced by wireless power, which is a disruptive and effective technology for device charging today," said Deepak Mithani, senior director of the Mixed Signal Business Unit, System LSI Group at TAEC. "As we continue to expand and improve our offering of wireless power ICs, Toshiba is helping to drive broader consumer adoption and use of cable-free charging technology."
To ensure mobile device safety, the new IC integrates a protocol authentication circuit for power transfers, foreign object detection functions, under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and over voltage detection (OVLO) functions, as well as thermal shutdown function (TSD). The IC is housed in a WCSP28 package measuring just 2.4mm by 3.67mm by 0.5mm.

IBM Unveils Linux-Only Mainframe; Builds On Linux Success
Makes Largest One-Time Contribution of Mainframe Code to Open Source Community
Linux Foundation Launches First-of-Kind "Open Mainframe Project"
SEATTLE, Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- (LINUXCON NORTH AMERICA) -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced a significant expansion of the mainframe's strategy of embracing open source-based technologies and open-source communities to provide clients with the most secure([1]), highest performance capabilities for an era where mainframes increasingly anchor corporate analytics and hybrid clouds.
The company is betting big on open source in the enterprise:
-- Unveiling the most secure Linux servers in the industry - The company is
introducing two Linux mainframe servers - called LinuxONE - that are the
industry's most powerful([2]) and secure enterprise servers designed for
the new application economy and hybrid cloud era.
-- Deepening open source software enablement - IBM will enable open source
and industry tools and software including Apache Spark, Node.js,
MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Chef and Docker on z Systems to provide
clients with choice and flexibility for hybrid cloud deployments. SUSE,
which provides Linux distribution for the mainframe, will now support
KVM, giving clients a new hypervisor option. Canonical and IBM also
announced plans to create an Ubuntu distribution for LinuxONE and z
Systems. The collaboration with Canonical brings Ubuntu's scale-out and
cloud expertise to the IBM z Systems platform, further expanding its
reach and support.
-- Contributing the single largest amount of mainframe code to open source
community - The code, designed to fuel digital transformation, includes
technology from IBM's mainframe to help enterprises identify issues and
help prevent failures before they happen, help improve performance
across platforms and enable better integration with the broader network
and cloud.
"Fifteen years ago IBM surprised the industry by putting Linux on the mainframe, and today more than a third of IBM mainframe clients are running Linux," said Tom Rosamilia, senior vice president, IBM Systems. "We are deepening our commitment to the open source community by combining the best of the open world with the most advanced system in the world in order to help clients embrace new mobile and hybrid cloud workloads. Building on the success of Linux on the mainframe, we continue to push the limits beyond the capabilities of commodity servers that are not designed for security and performance at extreme scale."
LinuxONE - Industry's Most Advanced Enterprise-Grade Linux Platform
IBM is launching LinuxONE, a new portfolio of hardware, software and services solutions, providing two distinct Linux systems for large enterprises and mid-size businesses. LinuxONE Emperor, based on the IBM z13, is the world's most advanced Linux system with the fastest processor in the industry.
The system is capable of analyzing transactions in "real time" and can be used to help prevent fraud as it is occurring. The system can scale up to 8,000 virtual machines or hundreds of thousands of containers - currently the most of any single Linux system. LinuxONE Rockhopper, an entry into the portfolio, is designed for clients and emerging markets seeking the speed, security and availability of the mainframe but in a smaller package.
IBM's LinuxONE systems, available starting today, are the most secure Linux systems with advanced encryption features built into both the hardware and software to help keep customer data and transactions confidential and secure. Protected-key, available on LinuxONE, provides significantly enhanced security over clear-key technology and offers up-to 28X improved performance over standard secure-key technology([3]).
Company Enables New Open Software and Industry Tools for Mainframe
Significantly broadening options for enterprises, IBM has enabled key open source and industry software for LinuxONE and IBM z Systems, including Apache Spark, Node.js, MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Chef and Docker. These technologies work seamlessly on the mainframe just as they do with other platforms, with compelling performance advantages while requiring no special skills.
IBM helped pioneer virtualization on the mainframe and is now offering more choices for virtualization by enabling the new LinuxONE systems to be provisioned as a virtual machine through the open standards-based KVM hypervisor, just like any Linux server. SUSE, a leading distributor of Linux, will provide initial support for KVM for the mainframe.
Canonical and IBM also announced an initiative to encourage the growth of Ubuntu Linux on z Systems. Canonical plans to distribute Ubuntu for LinuxONE and z Systems, adding a third Linux distribution. SUSE and Red Hat already support distribution. Canonical also plans to support KVM for the mainframe.
IBM Joins New Linux Foundation Project as Demand Grows for Mainframe in Open Source Community
Enabling greater access in the developer community, IBM's contribution of mainframe technologies is the largest single contribution of mainframe code from IBM to the open source community. A key part of the mainframe code contributions are IT predictive analytics that constantly monitor for unusual system behavior and help prevent issues from turning into failures. The code can be used by developers to build similar sense and respond resiliency capabilities on other systems.
The contributions will help fuel the new "Open Mainframe Project," formed by the Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux and collaborative development. In collaboration with the Linux Foundation, IBM will support the Open Mainframe Project, a collaboration of nearly a dozen organizations across academia, government and corporate sectors to advance development and adoption of Linux on the mainframe.
"Linux on the mainframe has reached a critical mass such that vendors, users and academia need a neutral forum where they can work together to advance Linux tools and technologies and increase enterprise innovation," said Jim Zemlin, the Linux Foundation executive director. "The Open Mainframe Project is a direct response to the demands of Linux users and the supporting open source ecosystem to address unique features and requirements built into mainframes for security, availability and performance."
IBM Provides Access to LinuxONE Developer Cloud at No Cost

Batteroo Looks to Save Our Planet by Extending Battery Life
Batteriser reduces, prevents environmental harm by increasing the lifespan of batteries
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Billions of alkaline batteries used every year are causing environmental harm due to greenhouse gases emitted during battery production, transportation, environmental effects of mining for battery materials, inefficient battery recycling methods and the disposal of battery waste into landfills, say experts at Batteroo Corporation.
Crafted from stainless steel at less than .1 millimeters thin, Batteriser is a reusable sleeve that slips on over new or most "used" batteries, and instantly taps into the up to 80 percent of remaining energy that is usually thrown away. Available for AA, AAA, C- and D-cell batteries, Batteriser has been tested and proven compatible on a variety of battery-operated home and office gadgets, including wireless keyboards, noise-canceling headphones, Xbox and Wii controllers, TV remote controls, walkie-talkies, digital scales, electronic toothbrushes, portable radios, flashlights and blood pressure monitors.
Every year, more than 15 billion batteries end up in landfills. By the time they reach this final destination, they have already created a significant carbon footprint. Greenhouse gas emissions from sourcing raw materials and factory production, in addition to the transportation of batteries to retail outlets around the world, result in potentially hazardous implications for the planet. Greenhouse gas emissions are a major environmental concern due to their potential effect on global climate change. Battery production and manufacturing was listed as a major source of greenhouse gas emissions in a 2010 study conducted by the California Department of Resources Recycling.
In addition to greenhouse gas emissions, another source of environmental harm comes from the mining of metals used in the production of disposable batteries. The environmental effect of mining is generations of chemical waste, excavation of the earth, and reduction of metallic resources, iron (steel), zinc and manganese in particular, that could be used for other much needed purposes.
Steel, zinc and manganese are not the only materials found in batteries. Batteries also contain potassium, graphite, copper, nickel, PVC, nylon and paper. Current recycling processes can only recover steel, zinc and manganese, with recycling technologies that vary depending on location affecting the percentage of material that is recoverable. Proven, cost-effective and safe recycling processes are not universally available for alkaline batteries. Additionally, many communities simply don't offer any means for collection or recycling of alkaline batteries, resulting in less than 2 percent of all batteries produced being recycled.
"The number of batteries that end up in landfills result in a significant impact on our planet and environment," said Batteroo cofounder Dr. Bob Roohparvar. "Sadly, significant number of disposable batteries end up in landfills with up to 80% of their energy remaining within them. If you line up all the disposable batteries that are thrown away each year, this would wrap around Earth 18.5 times every year! The easiest solution is to use fewer batteries. The Batteriser reduces and prevents environmental harm by increasing the lifespan of batteries, thus providing a solution where fewer batteries are produced and fewer batteries are thrown out in landfills." Additional information about how Batteroo is saving the world by saving battery life is Batteriser available at http://www.batteriser.com.
About Batteroo
Batteroo Corporation is an innovator of intelligent power management and delivery systems (Batteriser). It is a sleeve that makes contact with the positive and negative ends of a common battery to access its untapped energy at a highly efficient regulated system voltage. Batteriser can extend the life of disposable alkaline batteries by up to 800 percent, saving consumers money and saving landfills from toxic battery waste which would result in soil contamination and a laundry list of negative environmental impacts. Batteriser has been tested and proven compatible on a variety of battery-operated home and office gadgets, including wireless keyboards, noise-cancelling headphones, Xbox and Wii controllers, TV remote controls, walkie-talkies, digital scales, electric toothbrushes, toys, portable radios, flashlights, and blood pressure monitors. The company was cofounded by Bob Roohparvar, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, who holds more than 20 patents in his 30-year career in power management, semiconductors, and consumer products, and Frankie Roohparvar, well known executive who holds more than 500 patents. Polyera Announces World's First Flexible Display Product
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Polyera today announced the release of the Wove(TM) Band, the world's first flexible display product. The Wove Band features a flexible display which can either be flat or wrap around a wrist. Submissions for free developer units will open in September with the first units shipping in December to a select group of artists and developers. A commercial launch is planned for mid-2016. Additional details will be available at http://www.wove.com. The Wove Band is made possible by Polyera Digital Fabric Technology(TM) and E Ink® flexible electronic ink film.
Polyera Digital Fabric Technology(TM) is a unique set of materials, tools, and know-how designed to enable the production of flexible electronic products at scale. This platform is the result of 10 years of development, spanning fundamental science, engineering, and design. Most attempts at making flexible displays have relied on traditional electronics materials, such as silicon, being deposited on plastic substrates. This approach allows the creation of products with fixed curved screens, but the brittleness of these electronics layers makes them unsuitable for products which are dynamically flexible such as the Wove Band. Polyera Digital Fabric Technology, by contrast, uses proprietary electronic materials to enable displays that are flexible, robust, and can be manufactured in traditional display fabrication plants with minimal capital investment. The Polyera Digital Fabric Technology platform also addresses the integration of these displays into end products, by incorporating proprietary engineering and design solutions.
The Wove Band will feature a flexible, low-power touch display combining Polyera Digital Fabric Technology with E Ink's flexible and reflective electronic ink film. E Ink's film has been proven in production and used in millions of displays. The bi-stable nature of E Ink's electronic ink allows displays to consume no energy while holding a static image. The combination of Polyera's and E Ink's technologies enables the Wove Band to have a display which is both large and always-on, while consuming less power than smartwatches with far smaller displays.
Beyond the Wove Band, Polyera is actively working on a variety of flexible electronics components, such as flexible OLED displays, flexible sensors and flexible logic circuits, which will enable devices delivering unprecedented form factors and experiences.
About Polyera
Polyera is a flexible electronics company. Since 2005, Polyera has been on a mission to bring next-generation flexible electronics to the world. Polyera has developed deep and unique expertise spanning science, engineering, and design focused on flexible electronics. Polyera Digital Fabric Technology(TM) is a unique set of materials, tools, and know-how designed to enable the production of flexible electronics products at scale.
