NICE Utilizes Voice Biometrics Technology to Expand Fraud Prevention Suite to Contact Centers
The solution enables businesses to better protect the phone channel from fraudsters, thereby reducing fraud losses and protecting customers
RA'ANANA, Israel, January 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) today announced the launch of its Contact Center Fraud
Prevention solution, which tracks fraud patterns and screens all phone interactions for
fraud against a watch list of known fraudsters. The solution brings together NICE
Actimize's extensive expertise in fraud with NICE's years of experience in the contact
center. The solution can be deployed as a standalone contact center solution or as part of
the NICE Actimize enterprise fraud offering.
Organizations can reduce fraud-related losses without creating service hurdles or
compromising customer experience by adopting a multi-layered approach, which includes
non-intrusive voice biometrics technology, speech and transactional analytics, and
real-time capabilities.
Aite Group claims that fraud in the contact center is on the rise and, while many
businesses have recognized the need to protect customer data and secure online
transactions, the phone channel has become a target for fraud. Datamonitor estimates that
20 percent of people who are defrauded will leave the institution at which this occurred.
Fraudsters often use social engineering by leveraging information available on social
networks, enabling them to manipulate and trick customer service agents who continue to
verify caller identity through traditional means.
"Preventing fraud losses and protecting clients' personal information are essential
goals for enterprises and contact centers. Unfortunately, most agents do not have tools to
help them identify fraudsters, which puts the enterprise and customers at risk," said
Donna Fluss, President, DMG Consulting LLC. "Social media represents a goldmine for
fraudsters. Almost every person has a digital footprint, which can be mined for nefarious
purposes. Every public and private organization needs to equip their agents and other
employees with tools and best practices to prevent losses."
NICE's Contact Center Fraud Prevention solution enables businesses to pinpoint
fraudulent callers according to their unique voice print by using voice biometrics to
automatically cross-reference each call with a suspicious watch list of known fraudsters.
The solution also implements NICE Interaction Analytics to identify fraud patterns and
social engineering attempts based on speech analytics, emotion detection, talk patterns,
and interactions. For example, shouting at the agent or trying to change an address or
phone number could be part of a fraudulent behavior pattern, and certain keywords may
raise a red flag. Telephony and other contextual data, such as IVR events, caller location
and ANI matching, also known as caller ID, are also examined to determine potential fraud.
The NICE solution guides the agents in real time to appropriately handle high-risk
interactions, and provides an end-to-end fraud management solution that prioritizes high
risk interactions for investigation before transactions are authorized. The solution
leverages the industry proven NICE Actimize Risk Case Manager, which is a complete
investigation and workflow tool used to open an investigation ticket following
identification of a fraud attempt, including playback of suspicious interactions.
By focusing on high-risk interactions, companies can channel their resources more
efficiently, thereby reducing their operating costs and cutting their fraud losses.
Furthermore, companies can offer better service to legitimate customers by streamlining
operations for safe interactions without compromising their early fraud detection and
proactive contact with customers.
"The contact center is a prime target for fraudsters and enterprises must be prepared
to ensure that this area of their business is as well protected as online transactions. By
leveraging our contact center best practices with our fraud prevention practice, we were
able to create an end-to-end solution that offers proactive fraud detection, real-time
guidance, and integrated fraud case management," said Yochai Rozenblat, president of the
NICE Enterprise Group. "We believe that our advanced fraud prevention technology will help
businesses boost their reputations, protect their customer base, and significantly reduce
fraud losses."
NICE (NASDAQ: NICE) is the worldwide leader of software solutions that deliver
strategic insights by capturing and analyzing mass quantities of structured and
unstructured data in real time from multiple sources, including phone calls, mobile apps,
emails, chat, social media, and video. NICE's solutions enable organizations to take the
Next-Best-Action to improve customer experience and business results, ensure compliance,

LONDON, January 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The Challenge
Sidra Medical and Research Center is a hospital, research and education institution
currently under construction in Doha on Qatar Foundation's 2,500-acre Education City

health care.
The Solution
GRC covers a broad range of risks typically entailing financial, information
technology, and legal issues. Sidra's goal is to prioritize risks, justify funding for
remediation, and use policy to guide operational teams in corrective actions. The crucial
value of GRC is in controlling legal and regulatory compliance risks, for these can
trigger substantial penalties and even threaten viability of a business.
The Sword Achiever GRC solution, AchieverPlus, offers Sidra a platform which enables
the management of controls relating to process, operations, and management; a subset
addresses technical controls. It extends the executive dashboard concept providing senior
management with snapshot views furnished by IT into Sidra Key Performance Indicator (KPI)

actionable by the right people at the right time up, down, and across the organization

unique GRC challenges including clinical risk methodologies

corporate security policies
- The ability to map security issues to business applications and roll-up risk

- A comprehensive risk repository to enable Sidra to access centralized
compliance reporting in one location

the various business units within Sidra to ensure that management has an overview of key
risk issues facing the organization. This includes financial risk, operational risk,
clinical risk, legal risk, human resources and also covers compliance and governance
issues that the organization has to adhere to.

industries across the globe, for many years. These customer's needs are as diverse as the
industries they come from, but they all have multiple Governance, Risk and Compliance
demands placed upon them and the common factor is the benefit gained from having a single
integrated GRC management system.
Achiever Plus provides a unified Governance Risk and Compliance platform, across the
enterprise, delivering governance through the application of best practice, risk
management through monitoring and automatically alerting the business to highest areas of
risk and cost, and adherence to multiple areas of compliance management.

Good Technology Unveils Seven More Mobile Enterprise Apps Secured by Good Dynamics
New applications boost employee productivity and collaboration with document editing and management, time and email management capabilities
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology, the leader in secure enterprise mobility solutions, today announced seven new additions to its Good Dynamics® ecosystem of third-party business productivity applications. These additions include apps to edit Microsoft Office and Adobe files, collaboration software from Thomson Reuters, and app development software to help enhance productivity. Each of these enterprise apps were developed leveraging the Good Dynamics® mobile application platform and patent-pending Good Dynamics AppKinetics(TM) technology that enables the secure exchange of data within and between mobile applications. The new mobile applications augment business worker collaboration while safeguarding enterprise data at rest and in transit through a secure, end-to-end workflow.
A survey by CIO Custom Solutions Group reports that knowledge workers spend 28 hours per week writing emails, searching for information and collaborating internally(1). With two-thirds of the North American and European workforce reporting that they work outside of their corporate office at least occasionally every month, according to Forrester Research, Inc., it's imperative that business leaders initiate programs that keep their workforce productive and connected while mobile and remote(2).
With Good Dynamics AppKinetics, developers can engineer apps to securely exchange information within and between applications on a single device without jeopardizing data security, employees' confidentiality or user experience. This app-to-app interoperability allows companies to create secure, end-to-end workflows amongst a broader ecosystem of popular, business productivity applications that can aid business processes and augment employee collaboration, which ultimately increases customer service and satisfaction.
"In today's BYO environment, employees not only want to bring their personal devices to work, but also the business applications they know and use in their personal lives. Enterprise workers just want to get their jobs done and when IT tries to 'restrict' access to certain apps, employees often find ways around those policies in order to utilize the apps they prefer," said Herve Danzelaud, vice president, Business Development and Alliances, Good Technology. "Our growing ecosystem of secure, third-party, enterprise apps include the most popular apps in the app stores today--the ones employees are already using. Thanks to the Good Dynamics ecosystem, IT can now say 'yes!' to employees and boost productivity while protecting enterprise data."

New OLED TV Underscores LG's Status as Technology and Design Frontrunner
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) today demonstrated its continued OLED TV market leadership with a revolutionary curved model, the EA9800, shown for the first time here today at the 2013 International CES. Featuring proprietary WRGB technology, the incredibly thin display features a dramatic curved design and a vivid picture quality that is practically indiscernible from colors found in nature.
The unique new EA9800 model features the industry's very first curved screen ergonomic design with full CINEMA 3D support. With a gentle inward flex, the entire screen surface is equidistant from the viewer's eyes, removing the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and detail loss. Availability and pricing were not announced.
"LG is the first to launch the 55-inch OLED TV," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company. "We believe our new OLED TVs offer the ultimate viewing experience, surpassing anything seen before. The new curved model complements our core OLED TV family with a unique design that capitalizes on the thinness of the screen and the aesthetic beauty of OLED TV."
LG's OLED TVs produce astoundingly vivid and realistic pictures, thanks to superior WRGB technology. This unique Four-Color Pixel system features a white sub-pixel, which works in conjunction with the conventional RGB setup to create the perfect color output. The built-in Color Refiner delivers even greater tonal enhancement, resulting in images that are more vibrant and natural than anything seen before. The 55-inch OLED TV also offers an infinite contrast ratio, which maintains optimal contrast levels regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle. To complement the infinite contrast ratio and enable the richest color and deepest black expression, the High Dynamic Range (HDR) algorithm has been incorporated. This technology also ensures contrast ratio consistency and maximum color separation.
As OLEDs generate their own light, there is no need for a separate backlight, enabling LG OLED TVs to boast a significantly reduced weight and depth, and a stylish, minimal appearance. The EA9800's streamlined, ultra-modern design and curved screen remove any hint of visual distraction to maximize the viewing experience. Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) has been implemented to further reduce unit weight and add additional strength to the beautifully curved screen. The OLED TV's sleek styling and slim profile complement the stunning images brought about by LG's WRGB technology, helping to create what is truly the ultimate immersive viewing experience.
LG's Paper Slim design effectively unifies screen and stand into a seamless aesthetic entity. Meanwhile, CINEMA SCREEN Design elements result in a narrow screen bezel which is practically invisible to the naked eye. A minimal bezel helps to produce a truly immersive 2D and 3D viewing experience. For installation versatility, the new model also ships with an easy-to-mount wall bracket that allows a single person to complete the entire installation. With less than a one-inch gap between wall and TV, LG's design masterpiece can now be displayed like a true work of art.
Additionally, Smart Touch Control further differentiates LG's OLED TV designs from competing models. This new feature results in a more attractive appearance and a better control experience. Located below the screen, the sliding touch key provides the user with an intuitive and elegant way to control the OLED TVs basic functions, such as changing channels and volume, and powering on or off.
LG's OLED TVs combine the company's industry-leading CINEMA 3D technology with Smart TV capabilities, creating the most immersive and comprehensive home entertainment experience possible.

Bang & Olufsen launches new built-in sound system at CES 2013
Featuring an active and innovative built-in sound system with unique tilt functionality and acoustic balance principle which delivers luscious soundscapes in any room of choice
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bang & Olufsen, the Danish provider of high end, custom-made audio and video products announces the launch of its latest built-in sound system at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The integrated speaker solution is comprised of two-way active speakers (BeoLab 15), an active subwoofer (BeoLab 16) and a rack-ready amplifier (Amplifier 1) - all created specifically for in-wall or in-ceiling placement.
The new BeoLab 15/BeoLab 16 system builds on a broad spectrum of signature Bang & Olufsen capabilities to pack amazing sound into unexpected places. The active speakers harness an array of high-end components to deliver expansive audio performance from very compact constructions. The design and engineering teams have collaborated on a visual identity that is distinct but discreet, with a motorized tilt function that directs the sound where you want it when the speakers are on, then retreats to flush when no longer needed.
"The motorized tilt functionality brings a touch of magic to an in-wall, in-ceiling speaker. It offers something unexpected to the listening experience and also makes the performance and acoustical sound stage so much better," states Zean Nielsen, President of Bang & Olufsen America, Inc. "There is no doubt that the BeoLab 15/16 built-in sound solution will resonate well with the North American consumer. Its design, custom installation and natural aluminum finish makes it second to none in its category."
Discreet power
"This active built-in sound solution was conceived for installations where people want great sound without having to find room for freestanding speakers," says Bang & Olufsen Product Manager, Michael Jensen. "The combination of two speakers and a subwoofer - all built-in, all with drivers powered by separate amps - deliver a premium sound experience throughout the room. Additionally, the motorized tilt adds a touch of practical magic to enhance the listening experience."
Innovative tilt function
The new tilt function on BeoLab 15 lets you aim high and places middle tones right where you want them. Turn on the system, and the speaker automatically tilts out to pre-set angles to direct the sound for optimal listening. Turn off the system, and BeoLab 15 tilts back to flush position.
Each and every driver in the system's active speakers is powered by its own amplifier. This allows Bang & Olufsen to pack high-performing components into compact speaker cabinets that are easy to build into most walls - and still sound amazing. The new system meets international building codes by keeping the amplifiers and speaker drivers separate. The innovative cable compensation feature automatically calibrates all cables at distances up to 328 feet to ensure optimal bass performance.
BeoLab 15 is a closed-cabinet, two-way active speaker with a ¾" tweeter and a 3" midrange, featuring tilt functionality for directing sound up to 45° from the default flush position.
BeoLab 16, the system's active subwoofer, comprises two pairs of 4" woofers in separate sealed cabinets, played in-phase using the Acoustic Balance Principle to enable deep bass without unwanted wall vibrations.
Amplifier 1 contains six separate amplifiers. Two Class D units rated at 2 x 150 watts power up the subwoofer. Each BeoLab 15 gets 150 watts for the midrange, and 45 watts for the tweeter. Adaptive Bass Linearization keeps the deep bass cultivated and crisp all the way down to 45 Hz.
The circular design is discreet but distinct. When switched off, the speakers and subwoofer are flush with the wall, and all you notice is the subtle geometrical composition by designer Anders Hermansen. Turn the music on, and the speakers' motorized tilt function magically directs sound where you want it for amazing acoustic performance. The speakers are available in matt aluminium, with fabric covers in either white or black. The subwoofer is in matt aluminum.
The new BeoLab 15, BeoLab 16 and Amplifier 1 sound solution is available at selected Bang & Olufsen stores from January 2013. Priced at $4595 for the entire solution - pair of BeoLab 15 speakers, BeoLab 16 and the Amplifier 1.

Bang & Olufsen partners with Audi and Fraunhofer IIS to create a revolutionary 3D sound experience in the car
A unique three-way industry cooperation between Bang & Olufsen, Audi and Fraunhofer IIS has produced a concept car that redefines expectations from car audio. The Audi Q7 uses revolutionary new 3D audio technology and will be unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas.
STRUER, Denmark and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bang & Olufsen, the global provider of exclusive high quality audio and video products, proudly announces its development in 3D sound technology in the car-audio segment, together with Audi and Fraunhofer IIS, the main inventor of mp3 and a renowned source for advanced audio technologies. Under the partnership, the 3D audio solution has been introduced in an Audi Q7 Concept Car, which will be unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in the Audi booth (North Hall, 1130).
The Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System is already available today as an optional feature in the Audi Q7. The Concept Car at the CES demonstrates how the next generation of the Advanced Sound System redefines what buyers can expect from an in-car audio system.
Denis Crede, head of sound system development, Audi AG: "At Audi we strive to improve the experience of music enthusiasts by consistently setting new benchmarks with our sound systems. We believe that the introduction of 3D movies has helped to define the next major step forward for in-car sound systems: the reproduction of music in the third dimension. The 3D acoustic dimension of music recordings is reproduced more naturally and more inspirationally than ever through 3D sound. This produces an airiness and openness of the acoustics which corresponds to human hearing. With Fraunhofer IIS and Bang & Olufsen we have partners with whom we were able to jointly realize this idea."
3D sound adds a new emotional dimension to the user experience
"Bang & Olufsen Audio Systems for cars are widely renowned for their unique ability to turn a car interior into a real high-end listening room, and with the addition of the 3D sound algorithm and associated speaker units and amplifiers in this Audi Q7 Concept Car, we add a new important emotional dimension into the listening experience. Extending beyond the small confined space of the vehicle cabin, the available sound experience now ranges all the way from a very big and open sense of space to the purist setting such as a control room of a recording studio," says Bjarne Sorensen, Senior Manager Car Concept Creation and Communication.
This unheard listening experience is based on a sophisticated approach combining the expertise of the Audi and Bang & Olufsen acoustic engineers with the 3D sound know-how of the Fraunhofer team. The new 3D sound system takes any music of the user to the third dimension by a careful analysis built on psycho-acoustic knowledge. This analysis enables the intelligent distribution of the input signal to the loudspeakers in the car creating a highly realistic three-dimensional sound impression. With no more than a push of a button on the Audi Multi Media Interface, the user can adjust the settings and produce an individual level of 3D intensity.
Harald Popp, head of the Multimedia Realtime Systems department of Fraunhofer IIS states: "Based on the know-how from our research and development in 3D audio, the Advanced Sound System of the Audi Q7 Concept Car not only creates an impressive dimensionality and spaciousness, which dissolves the geometry of the car. It also reproduces the genuine richness of the music with ultimate precision for an unrivalled music experience. We are very pleased with the opportunity to develop such a unique sound system together with Audi and Bang & Olufsen."
Listen to the technology
The concept car has 23 active loudspeakers and more than 1500 watts of amplification power, driven by a new 23 channel DSP Most amplifier. The loudspeakers have been specially selected to complement the architecture inside the car and create the unique sense of listening to music inside a concert auditorium.
-- Two loudspeakers in the dashboard center (tweeter and broadband)
-- Two tweeters in the dashboard (left/right) with acoustic lens technology
-- One mid-high loudspeaker in each A pillar
-- One tweeter in each A pillar
-- Two loudspeakers in each front door with a woofer and a midrange
-- Three loudspeakers in each rear door with a woofer, midrange and a
tweeter
-- Two surround loudspeakers in each D pillar, consisting of a tweeter and
broadband
-- One closed subwoofer box in the spare wheel compartment
All loudspeakers are covered by high-grade aluminum grilles that reflect the excellence inside the car. In addition, the two dashboard speakers use Bang & Olufsen's patented acoustic lens technology for accurate sound reproduction. The Acoustic Lens Technology was first fitted to the Audi A8 and its major benefit is the way it uniformly disperses high frequencies, broadening it to 180 degrees while at the same time limiting vertical reflections. This provides detailed acoustic staging from any seat of the car.
Experience it for yourself
As well as experiencing the new standards set by the Q7, you can also witness the revolutionary 3D audio technology for yourself at the listening room at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, located in the Audi booth 1130 in North Hall. The room will also contain an impressive array of Bang & Olufsen products, including:
-- 18 fully active Bang & Olufsen speakers, including seven floor standing
BeoLab 5's and ceiling mounted BeoLab 3's, all showcasing the patented
acoustic lens technology as seen in B&O car audio systems
-- More than 20 KW of ICEpower amplification built in the speakers
-- A 103" BeoVision 4 plasma TV, the ultimate in home cinema viewing
Meet our partners

We both share a focus on technological innovation as well as pioneering and innovative design. Now, we have teamed up with Fraunhofer IIS, a worldwide authority in the field of advanced audio and acoustic signal processing. Together we present the Audi Q7 Concept Car - a genuine landmark in car audio.

TruCode Announces New Encoder Web Services for Integration into Healthcare IT Applications
ALPHARETTA, Ga., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TruCode(TM), a medical coding software company, proudly announces a new encoder "cloud-based" offering for healthcare IT vendors. TruCode's Encoder Essentials is a set of web services and components that enable business partners to easily integrate encoder functionality directly into their systems without separate encoder interfaces or onsite software. The announcement was made by Thomas Golden, Co-Founder and CTO of TruCode.
"TruCode is the first company to offer complete encoder capabilities through web services, making it the encoder-inside for computer assisted coding (CAC), clinical documentation improvement (CDI), HIS, EMR and other coding technology companies," says Golden.
TruCode's Encoder Essentials have already been integrated into ChartWise (ChartWise CDI), BayScribe (v6 CAC), Dolbey (Fusion CACe), M*Modal's (Fluency for Coding(TM)), Precyse (precyseCode(TM)), and PlatoCode.
According to Robin Stults RHIA, CHC and Senior Vice President of Health Information Management at Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, "Integrating encoders into the CAC process, versus interfacing them, is the future of coding workflow, particularly in light of new ICD-10 demands."
"Application logistics are difficult without integrated solutions and the symbiotic nature of natural language understanding and encoder rules make it a perfect pairing. Coders will appreciate the ease of using this type of integrated technology, and health care professionals will appreciate the concept of a solution within a solution," continues Stults.
All components needed for accurate and effective clinical coding can be embedded into web pages or any other application that can display HTML content for rapid access by coding personnel. These include such valuable resources as code books, grouping, pricing, edits, references and more, available via a broadband internet connection.
"With embedded Web Services, coders have access to coding tools wherever they need them, not just inside their encoder. When tools are readily available, coders are more productive and more accurate in their coding. Any system that allows codes to be assigned can benefit from adding TruCode's tools as an integral part of the solution," adds Golden.

Introduces New Metric for Measuring Inefficiencies in Mobile Billing
HOUSTON, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Validas, the leader in mobile analytics, has launched an interactive dashboard around the firm's introduction of a new business indice, the "Wireless Waste(TM) Index," that measures overspending on wireless billing nationally and globally. Wireless Waste(TM) is the value of the difference between what you pay for on your mobile plan and how much of it you actually use. Accessible at http://www.wirelesswasteindex.com, the Wireless Waste(TM) Index projects that American smartphone users overspent by tens of billions of dollars in 2012. Globally, Validas estimates Wireless Waste(TM) to have cost consumers over $926 billion last year.
The dashboard allows visitors to zoom in and trend over 2012 to see monthly, quarterly and annual projections of Wireless Waste(TM) on smartphones in America and to zoom out to see all lines globally in an annualized view. With their often-expensive data plans, smartphones rack up the most Wireless Waste(TM), according to Validas: $45 billion across 130 million American smartphone lines. When all of America's 330 million wireless lines are included, the 2012 Wireless Waste(TM) number increases only comparably slightly to $52.8 billion. "This was why we included just smartphones for the high depth, domestic section of the Index," said Tom Pepe, CEO of Validas. "We wanted to target in on the most inefficient part of the domestic wireless market so that people understand their risk category as a consumer."
The Wireless Waste(TM) Index comes out as Validas prepares to expand the fight against Wireless Waste(TM) through its free VERA service at http://www.savelovegive.com. VERA audits wireless bills to remove Wireless Waste(TM), and allows the user to either pocket their recovered dollars or pledge them towards philanthropic causes including rebuilding the Jersey Shore after Hurricane Sandy and funding global initiatives to empower underprivileged women through microfinance.
About Validas
Validas® is a mobile intelligence firm helping Fortune
500s and wireless carriers understand their "big data" in mobile via
patented software. Validas' free app, VERA, protects consumers against
billions of dollars of Wireless Waste(TM) by finding ways to lower their costs--and then gives users the power to repurpose their saved dollars towards philanthropic
causes. For more information, visit http://www.savelovegive.com.

Manuel Zanella, inventor of the i'm Watch and Massimiliano Bertolini, partner and
sales director, who were at CES together with Ennio Doris, the financial partner of the
i'm Watch project, are advocates of a new "philosophy" that brings into everyday life the
concept of Smart Living, i.e. a series of modern technologies and devices that could lead
to an improvement in the management of our daily lives.
For this reason, on the occasion of CES and alongside these creations, i'm will
present, in a world premiere, i'm Here, the smallest, sleekest and most sophisticated GPS
tracker that promises to be a great innovation because "Smart Living" also means "Safe
Living". i'm Here [http://www.imsmart.com/en/i-m-here/overview ] is the first GPS tracker
that identifies its position and that of other people and has inside it a SIM card,
created thanks to a joint venture with another company in the group, Zeromobile. i'm Here
is a GPS tracker to wear or carry which can identify your geographical position and that
of other people. In the case of danger, it lets you make an SOS call just by pressing a
single button. Having your own geographical tracking or that of a loved one is ideal in
different situations of risk that might occur in everyday life: for mothers terrified of
losing their children at the seaside, in the shopping mall or in the hills during a hike;
for people who enjoy extreme sports like mountaineering or parachuting; for people
suffering from illnesses that cause sensory dysfunctions such as loss of orientation or
spatial awareness. All you need is to be connected and the device will quickly track the
exact position of the missing person. In the case of danger for ourselves, a simple button
will make an SOS call to someone pre-selected by us.
Even the design is innovative; this device has all the credentials to become a new and
extremely comfortable fashion accessory. In addition to being incredibly small and
portable, you can wear i'm Here on your wrist using its strap, attach it to your jacket or
keep it in your backpack or purse and so conveniently take it anywhere with you. Ergonomic
models are available for children in fun colors designed especially for them.

McGraw-Hill Education Unveils Suite of Adaptive Learning Products, Including First-Ever Adaptive E-Book, at 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show
New "LearnSmart Advantage" suite brings adaptive technology to new aspects of student learning experience; "SmartBook" revolutionizes reading
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the International Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, McGraw-Hill Education launched a suite of adaptive learning products for higher education that use advanced technological engines to improve learning and student performance. The new "LearnSmart Advantage" suite takes adaptive learning - one of the biggest trends in education in 2012 - beyond the realm of course study tools by using adaptive technology to provide more dynamic, personalized learning experiences across new aspects of the student learning experience. Included in the suite is SmartBook(TM), the world's first ever adaptive e-book, which revolutionizes college reading by focusing students' attention on the content that is most critical to their learning.
Adaptive learning is a method of education that seeks to personalize learning by using sophisticated algorithmic technology to continually assess students' knowledge, skill and confidence levels and design targeted study paths based on the resulting data to bolster students' understanding in the areas where they need to improve the most. By allowing students to focus their outside-of-class study time on the topics and concepts that are most challenging to them, adaptive learning has been shown to help students study more efficiently, develop greater proficiency and earn better grades. Adaptive learning also benefits instructors: By better preparing students for class, adaptive learning enables instructors to spend more time delving into advanced concepts and engaging students in high-level discussion.
The LearnSmart Advantage suite builds on the success of McGraw-Hill LearnSmart(TM), the company's industry leading adaptive study tool. With more than 1 million unique student users answering more than 1 billion questions through LearnSmart since its launch in 2009, McGraw-Hill Education has been able to use its unparalleled data and insights into how students learn to refine its adaptive capabilities and apply them to new areas of the learning experience - in effect creating a fully adaptive course. McGraw-Hill Education will make the LearnSmart Advantage suite available to students through instructors and institutions as well as through direct purchase.
"Since the launch of LearnSmart in 2009, we've developed a deep understanding of how personalized learning through adaptive technology helps improve student performance," said Brian Kibby, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education. "Bringing our expertise and proven effectiveness in adaptive learning to new areas of the learning experience represents an enormous opportunity, both for McGraw-Hill Education and students, instructors and institutions across the country. With the launch of SmartBook and the rest of the LearnSmart Advantage suite, we continue to lead higher education in using adaptive technology to help improve student performance."
The following new products are joining LearnSmart in the LearnSmart Advantage suite:
-- SmartBook - an adaptive e-book that creates a more efficient and
effective reading experience by assessing students' knowledge and skill
levels as they read and highlighting content that focuses their
attention on the topics and concepts that they have yet to master.
SmartBook represents a breakthrough achievement in reading, as it breaks
the centuries-old tradition of books as linear experiences that presume
to be read in their entirety, and in a pre-defined sequence, in order to
be understood.
-- LearnSmart Prep - a "before-the-course" adaptive resource designed to
prepare students entering complex courses that are critical to the
completion of their major or degree (such as Anatomy & Physiology,
Organic Chemistry, or Majors Biology) with the knowledge and skills they
need to be successful on day one of class. Students can also use
LearnSmart Prep in the early weeks of a course to ensure that they are
prepared for concepts and assignments that will come later in the
course.
-- LearnSmart Labs - a photo-realistic virtual lab experience that uses
adaptive technology to enable meaningful scientific exploration and
learning while eliminating many of the practical challenges of a
physical lab setting. By allowing students to practice their experiments
in a virtual lab setting, LearnSmart Labs allows students and
instructors to maximize the valuable time spent in the physical
laboratory. For online and blended courses, LearnSmart Labs offers the
closest thing available to an actual physical laboratory experience,
enabling students to put the concepts they have learned in class to the
virtual test without requiring access to a brick-and-mortar lab.
-- LearnSmart Achieve - a comprehensive adaptive learning system that
pinpoints students' areas of weakness and supplies students with
targeted content, including videos, interactive activities and
additional readings. LearnSmart Achieve gives students on-the-spot
tutoring at times when they may not have access to their professors and
also provides a time management feature that guides students through the
content and resources at a pace that is best for them.
The LearnSmart Advantage suite enables institutions to adopt adaptive learning as an institution-wide practice, creating a cycle of student performance improvement across disciplines and classes. McGraw-Hill Education also plans to offer the products in the LearnSmart Advantage suite available to students or their parents to purchase directly. The company entered the consumer market for adaptive technology in the summer of 2012 when it made LearnSmart for sale directly to students and parents.
LearnSmart Advantage Availability
-- LearnSmart: Available immediately across more than 90 course areas.
-- SmartBook: Available in the spring of 2013 across more than 90 course
areas.
-- LearnSmart Prep: Available immediately across six course areas.
-- LearnSmart Labs: Available immediately for the following courses: Majors
Biology, General Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Organic
Chemistry and Nutrition.
-- LearnSmart Achieve: Available in beta in the spring of 2013 across more
than 25 course areas.
All products in the LearnSmart Advantage suite will be available directly to students beginning at $19.99.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On January 8 in Las Vegas, Hisense unveiled its highly-anticipated "U-LED" TV at CES, the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition.
Building on the LED display, U-LED (the "U" is for Ultra, defining the display's superior contrast, definition and color gamut, among other features) achieves unprecedented display effects through software and hardware optimization, delivering better contrast, wider color gamut, higher definition and faster speed. At the expo, journalists found that U-LED far outperforms LED in terms of dark field, image quality and color gamut when displaying the same content.
New products on display at the 2013 CES confirmed the overall acceptance and industry wide move towards TVs that are increasingly widescreen and HD as well as application systems-intelligent. Considering the inability of large-scale commercialization of super-HD OLED and UHD TVs due to the high prices, Hisense's U-LED can match OLED TVs in terms of quality at a price only slightly higher than a LED TV's. Following the 2013 CES, Hisense's U-LED will be available in Central America to meet demands of high-end users.
Hisense's U-LED is expected to be honored with the "Display Technology Innovation Award for Year 2012" at CES.
