Qualcomm Introduces StreamBoost Technology to Optimize Performance and Capacity of Home Networks
- Alienware, D-Link among First to Demonstrate StreamBoost-Enabled 802.11ac Routers to Control and Optimize Bandwidth in the Connected Home -
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., introduced StreamBoost((TM)) technology for Wi-Fi(®) routers and gateways. By intelligently managing a home's broadband connection, Qualcomm StreamBoost gives each device and each application the bandwidth it needs to ensure the best possible experiences in the connected home. In conjunction with this introduction, Alienware and D-Link Systems, Inc. will be demonstrating StreamBoost routers based on Qualcomm VIVE((TM)) 802.11ac technology for Gigabit-class Wi-Fi at International CES. StreamBoost routers will be available to consumers this spring at e-commerce and retail outlets in North America, Europe and Asia.
Currently, the average home connects up to seven devices to the Internet, and this number is expected to grow considerably in the next five years. Due to limited bandwidth, users are increasingly frustrated by the effects of network congestion: streaming movies freeze, gaming sessions lag, and online surfing slows. While the new 802.11ac standard was designed to address increasingly crowded networks, StreamBoost technology combined with 802.11ac takes networking to the next level. While Qualcomm VIVE 802.11ac provides up to 1.3 Gbps PHY rate of Wi-Fi capacity, Qualcomm StreamBoost provides a superior connected experience to users of all devices on a home network by managing and shaping traffic, and giving each connected device and application the priority and bandwidth required for optimal performance.
"StreamBoost provides users with advanced control over their home networks to enable the first truly smart, connected homes," said Frank Azor, general manager, Alienware. "This technology will provide gamers with a more reliable and better performing online gaming experience, whether there are two, 12 or 20 devices using the network simultaneously."
Qualcomm StreamBoost also incorporates an opt-in, cloud-based service that continually increases the intelligence of the router, allowing new applications and devices to be identified and optimally managed as they are added to a network. StreamBoost's interface makes understanding and using routers more intuitive than ever before. For the first time, users can view all computers, tablets, phones and other connected devices on the home's network--as well as the applications they are using, and the real-time bandwidth usage of each application and device--on one easy-to-use StreamBoost interface.
"Our goal at D-Link is to ensure each consumer has the best possible online experience," said Dan Kelley, associate vice president of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. "StreamBoost gives us a way to make sure every person using the network will have an optimal experience, regardless of application usage."
"The explosion of media enjoyed on a variety of devices presents a conflict in the home network," said Dan Rabinovitsj, senior vice president and general manager, networking business unit, Qualcomm Atheros. "Web surfing competes with streaming video, video chat competes with games, and downloads compete with everything. In the practical use case of a connected home, bandwidth will always be limited, but intelligent network management helps address this. We created Qualcomm StreamBoost to recognize and optimally allocate network traffic, providing users with the best Internet performance possible on all connected devices--right out of the box."
Qualcomm Atheros will be demonstrating VIVE 802.11ac router products and StreamBoost technology in the Qualcomm exhibit at 2013 International CES in Las Vegas on January 8-11 (LVCC, South Hall 3 - 30313). Qualcomm Atheros will also demonstrate StreamBoost technology at ShowStoppers(®) on January 8 in the Lafite Ballroom at the Wynn Hotel Las Vegas. D-Link will demonstrate its new StreamBoost router at the Venetian in the San Polo Meeting Room (#3402) during CES.

Technophiles Exciting by Developments in Wireless Charging
MANCHESTER, England, January 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Wireless technology has already led to significant breakthroughs in the world of
technology and multimedia and the race is now on for the world's leading companies to
bring wireless charging technology to the masses. The team at Wire Free AV
[http://www.wirefreeav.co.uk ] are particularly excited about the new developments.
Wire Free AV are experienced suppliers of wireless speakers
[http://www.wirefreeav.co.uk ] and multimedia systems and they have noted a significant
increase in the uptake of wireless technology in recent years. This is thought to be down
largely to the more portable, affordable, sophisticated and high quality smartphones and
multimedia gadgetry now available on the market.
Wireless technology enables people to discover a higher degree of convenience when it
comes to their everyday use of entertainment and communications equipment. The news that
wireless charging technology may be just around the corner has created a real buzz in the
technophile community.
The sense of excitement is palatable because so far charging gadgets and smartphones
has remained the sole area unexplored by wireless technology. Wires and cables have
gradually disappeared from homes and offices, but they are yet to be eradicated completely
because traditional chargers and adapters that plug into walls and computers have not yet
been usurped by more sophisticated solutions.
This is all set to change in the coming weeks and months. Apple is one of the
companies currently seeking a patent for its wireless charging technology and fans of
wireless around the world are waiting eagerly to see which of the major players enter the
market with their new technology first.
In the meantime, those interested in learning more about wireless speaker systems and
other wireless accessories can visit the Wire Free AV team at http://www.wirefreeav.co.uk where they will also find a range of offers on the latest

LG To Introduce Connected, Easy-To-Control Smart Appliances At CES 2013
LG Home Appliances Feature Convenient, One Touch Connection, Smart Control for More Connected Life
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Jan. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) will introduce its full 2013 line of smart appliances, offering enhanced connectivity and greater user convenience, at next week's International CES® in Las Vegas.
Smart Control allows users to effectively manage their appliances with simple voice commands via smartphone and monitor LG's super-efficient smart suite from outside the home*. By simply scanning their smartphone with the NFC Tag-on symbol on LG's smart appliances, users can easily register and control their refrigerator, washing machine, robotic vacuum cleaner or range oven remotely.
"This year at CES, LG will demonstrate its most advanced, convenience-enhancing smart home appliances," said Seong-jin Jo, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company.
LG's upgraded smart technology for 2013 gives users the ability to "control their appliances no matter where they are," said Jo. "They can start a load of laundry while driving home from work, tell their robotic cleaner to vacuum the floor before company arrives or view the refrigerator's inventory of food items. LG's enhanced device-to-device connectivity offers incredible convenience, as the user can control and monitor household appliances through their TV while still watching their favorite show. It's a smart home for those who want the ultimate smart lifestyle."
Jo explained that LG differentiates its smart appliances with two separate but highly complementary sets of technologies. LG's four core technologies - the Linear Compressor, Inverter Direct Drive, KOMPRESSOR(TM) and Lightwave - enable superior performance and savings, while LG's innovative smart technologies - Smart Manager, Smart Diagnosis(TM), Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid readiness - create greater user convenience.
A Smart Refrigerator to Revolutionize Food Management
Built around the company's signature Linear Compressor, LG's smart refrigerator is equipped with the full range of smart technologies.
Smart Manager transforms the refrigerator into a complete food management system. Consumers can navigate the refrigerator's LCD panel or smartphone to view the current list of food items without opening the door. With the Smart Manager's Freshness Tracker, users can input various foods in order to check their expiration dates. Additionally, the Smart Manager recommends meals to cook based on the ingredients that are available in the refrigerator and the recommended recipe can be shared with LG's smart oven to automatically begin preheating to the appropriate temperature.
Smart Access lets users check the status of their LG appliances via smartphone regardless of location. For example, rather than keeping track of cumbersome shopping lists, users may simply see a list of what is inside their fridge on iOS or Android phones while at the supermarket.
Smart Shopping(1) enables online grocery shopping directly from the refrigerator's LCD panel. Items can be automatically purchased when current supplies are running low or they can be manually selected and ordered. Smart Shopping reduces the need to visit the supermarket, saving time and increasing convenience.
LG's unique Health Manager(1) feature recommends individual recipes, as well as daily and weekly meal plans, based on the user's personal profile. Users' personal information such as age, gender, weight, and height are used to determine a Body Mass Index (BMI) figure which is then used to create a personalized meal plan.
LG's Smart Diagnosis(TM) technology has undergone an impressive upgrade, allowing LG's smart products to better self-assess problems and inform the user**. Through Wi-Fi connection, NFC tagging and audible diagnosis alerts, the consumer is quickly made aware of most minor issues related to the appliances which helps to limit costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits. For example, this proves useful when the ice maker is switched off or the door is left open by accident.
LG's smart refrigerator is also Smart Grid Ready, which means it can automatically adjust its temperature and settings based on fluctuating energy costs, creating a practical smart energy-saving solution***. LG's smart refrigerator also offers Delay Defrost Capability, which can reduce power consumption during specific hours of the day.
In addition to being able to catch one's favorite TV programs on the refrigerator's crisp LCD display, Smart Share allows users to upload and enjoy photos, music, movies, calendars as well as check the weather report. Instead of just displaying basic recipe lists, instructional videos are available on the display screen to visually show how to prepare recommended dishes.
A Smart Washing Machine with Wi-Fi/NFC Tag Smart Diagnosis(TM)
Using Wi-Fi, NFC tagging and audible diagnosis, LG's Smart Diagnosis(TM) alerts the user to technical issues, while the Smart Adapt feature makes it possible to download new washing cycle programs -- such as Super Rinse or Baby Sanitize -- via smartphone or directly from the washing machine's LCD panel. Using their smartphone, users can monitor the status of LG's smart washing machine and remotely control it with voice commands. Wash cycles can also be adjusted, started or paused directly through the user's smart TV.
Smart Access allows consumers to control their washer and dryer regardless of location. They no longer need to worry when leaving the house with the washer running as Smart Access makes it possible to monitor the overall status of the washer and dryer via smartphone. Functions and settings can be remotely administered or adjusted and pop-up messages appear on the user's smartphone when a laundry cycle has been completed.
Smart HOM-BOT: So Much More Than a Vacuum
With a smartphone and Wi-Fi connection, users can remotely schedule the HOM-BOT to clean their home at any time, day or night. Advanced features allow the HOM-BOT to be controlled with a smartphone using either on-screen controls or voice commands. The robotic vacuum's camera eye allows for remote home surveillance via a smartphone and even allows owners to speak to family members at home via LG's HOM-BOT. Like its smart appliance counterparts, the HOM-BOT can also be operated from an LG Smart TV.
A Smarter Oven for Smarter Cooking
LG's Smart Oven comes equipped with Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Diagnosis(TM)**, which opens up a whole new range of smarter cooking possibilities. With a Wi-Fi connection, home chefs can monitor the status of their ovens, search for recipes, set cooking modes and diagnose problems via smartphone. Even without Wi-Fi, NFC technology gives users the ability to program the oven for a particular recipe as well as diagnose a problem using their mobile device. LG's smart oven can also be operated using voice commands via a smartphone or LG Smart TV.
*Wireless Internet connection required for Smart Appliance features and sold separately.
**SmartDiagnosis(TM) is designed to supplement existing methods of problem identification and may not be able to troubleshoot all issues.
***Requires that you are receiving your power from a Smart Grid enabled power company. Smart Grids are not available everywhere. May not be compatible with all Smart Grid systems.

New Models to Join LG's 84-inch Class Ultra HD TV Offering Consumers Variety of Choices to Enhance Viewing Experience
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Jan. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) is ushering in the new year with an expanded family of Ultra High Definition TVs* with new screen sizes for 2013.
At next week's International CES® in Las Vegas, LG's award-winning 84-inch class (84.04 inch diagonal) Ultra HD TV will be complemented by 55- and 65-inch class (54.6- and 64.7 inch diagonal respectively) models.
These new sizes offer the same stellar resolution and immersive viewing experience as LG's 84-inch class Ultra HD TV, which earned the CES 2013 "Best of Innovations" award in the Video Display category. LG was the first company to successfully commercialize Ultra HD flat-panel TV technology, introducing the first model in 2012.
"LG continues to pave the way in the emerging Ultra HD TV segment," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "Using our proprietary technology, we strive to offer incredible picture quality on an enormous scale. We are extremely proud of this series as a whole and the 'Best of Innovations' award bestowed by CEA on our 84-inch class UHD TV."
All three models in the Ultra HD TV series boast the advanced Triple XD Engine. This exceptional picture processing technology creates astonishingly vivid images with a resolution of over 8 million pixels; four times the resolution (3840 x 2160) of Full HD TV panels. Additionally, the Resolution Upscaler Plus takes content of lesser image quality and renders it in high detail, creating a wealth of content for consumers.
LG's newest Magic Remote allows the user to navigate the Ultra HD TV's smart onscreen interface using gestures and voice recognition. The company's Smart TV ecosystem now includes approximately 1,400 apps and access to a growing collection of premium content services, such as 3D World and Game World**. SmartShare Plus connects users to even more media and entertainment options. This feature set offers a range of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi), which enable content to be transferred from compatible portable devices such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets and other devices.
LG has equipped its Ultra HD TVs with CINEMA 3D technology, bringing 3D entertainment into the Ultra HD arena. Astounding screen resolution, in combination with 3D effects and 3D Sound Zooming, gives consumers a true sense of being "in the action." 3D Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the perceived distance between objects on the screen for a customizable 3D experience. 3D Sound Zooming analyzes onscreen objects to generate sound in accordance with their virtual location and movement. In addition, the Dual Play feature allows opponents playing multiplayer games to simultaneously see different images on the same screen* - effectively making split-screen gaming a thing of the past.
LG's Ultra HD TV also features a 2.2 Sound System. Consisting of two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers, the sound system produces a lush audio experience that perfectly complements the extraordinary onscreen visuals; creating a theater-like experience in the home.
At CES 2013, LG will showcase the vibrant neo-pop artwork of Romero Britto on its stunning lineup of Ultra HD TVs in the Ultra HD Gallery Zone. Consistent with LG's Life's Good motto, Britto's uplifting paintings are visual expressions of pure happiness and hope for humanity. LG's next-generation picture technology conveys the artist's dynamic vision with complete fidelity. The Ultra HD Content Zone will show CES visitors just how serious LG is about securing top quality, next- generation "4K" content. The company has already formed a 4K content agreement with Korea's top broadcaster, KBS (Korea Broadcasting System) and is actively initiating relationships with other global content providers.
*No "ultra high definition" or "4K" content is currently available. No broadcast or other standard currently exists for "4K" or "ultra high definition" television, and the 84LM9600 may or may not be compatible with such standards if and when developed.
*Internet connection and certain subscriptions required and sold separately. Content and services vary by product and are subject to change without notice.
*Special glass required and sold separately.
*For a small percentage of the population, the viewing of stereoscopic 3D video may cause discomfort such as dizziness or nausea. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue using the 3D functionality and contact your health care provider.
*Designs, features and specifications subject to change without notice. LG LED TVs are LCD TVs with LED backlighting.

Hands-Free, Ears-Free Bluetooth Hat to be unveiled at Eureka Park CES 2013
NEWARK, Del., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Delaware start-up Max Virtual LLC (http://www.maxvirtual.com) has announced a unique hat that allows you take a call or listen to music on your mobile phone, tablet or PC, while keeping your hands - and ears - completely free. What makes it unique? On the outside, it looks like an ordinary baseball cap, and no earphones or earpieces are required for the user to hear the audio. The new product is called 'Cynaps' and will be unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week, January 8-11, in Eureka Park.
Cynaps uses bone conduction to transmit sound to the inner ear via two small vibrating modules within the lining of the hat. The resulting audio is crystal clear for the wearer, even while wearing earplugs. It can be wirelessly connected via Bluetooth to a mobile phone, tablet or PC to make calls or listen to music and video. The control panel under the bill provides easy access to useful features such as taking a call, adjusting volume and navigating playlists.
One huge advantage of Cynaps over earpieces or hand-held phones is its relative safety of use while driving or biking. Since both ears are free, the user remains more aware of surrounding traffic and will be better able to react in case of an emergency.
Along with their first exhibition at CES, Max Virtual is currently featuring the Cynaps project on crowdfunding site Indiegogo at http://www.indiegogo.com/Cynaps. Upon successful funding, the company plans to ship the first batch of hats out to Indiegogo backers next month. The company also plans to install the product into other headgear such as motorcycle helmets, headbands and a wider variety of hats in the near future.

zeebox Selects Gracenote to Power Content Recognition on the Second Screen
Gracenote Entourage(TM) will let zeebox Users Identify what TV Programs are Trending
EMERYVILLE, Calif., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- zeebox will integrate Gracenote Entourage(TM) Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) into its award-winning app for iOS and Android, enabling it to automatically identify the show you're watching and to deliver a synchronized second-screen experience across live or time-shifted TV.
Gracenote Entourage uses advanced audio fingerprinting to let apps on smartphones and tablets identify TV programs and movies by "listening" to a few seconds of the dialogue or soundtrack. zeebox will use the Gracenote Entourage ACR technology to identify the program the user is watching, either live or time-shifted, allowing zeebox to automatically provide additional information, votes and polls, tweets, presence and transactional opportunities, all synchronized to the program being viewed.
"People love zeebox's program discovery, TV remote control and interactive second-screen experiences. Today that experience is focused on live television. Gracenote technology will allow us to take zeebox to the next level, providing that great interactive and synchronized zeebox experience for both live and recently PVR'd content," said Anthony Rose, co-founder and CTO at zeebox.
The brainchild of former EMI executive Ernesto Schmitt and BBC iPlayer CTO Anthony Rose, zeebox lets viewers discover what's hot on TV - among their friends, top celebrities, or the Twitterverse. The company recently announced a series of strategic alliances with Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal, HBO and others, offering the first such endorsement by major media companies of a cross-channel, TV companion app.
"Through its unique blend of trending data, recommendations and social features, zeebox has led innovation in the market of TV companion apps, and we are thrilled to partner with them," said Stephen White, president of Gracenote. "Real time data about what's hot and trending now is key to the zeebox discovery experience, and wGracenote Entourage ill make it fun and easy for viewers to identify and share what they are watching."
Gracenote Entourage is transforming TV as we know it, turning a once passive experience into one where a whole new world of discovery is possible on the second screen. Unique to Gracenote Entourage is its ability to "always listen" and identify what's playing throughout the broadcast. This lets viewers actively identify TV content without requiring them to constantly push a button on their device.

Leading full service web design company Energy House Digital has developed bright,
easy-to-use website iConsult which aims to make referring patients easier for GPs and thus
reduces the workload of busy hospital departments while providing communication channels
between GPs and Specialist Consultants. Initially connecting with the Centre for
Gastroenterology at the Royal Free Hospital, the new website and referral service is
supported by the Royal Free Charity.
iConsult aims to make the referral of patients from the GP to the Specialist easy,
quick and efficient. GPs can use iConsult to make direct contact with Specialist
consultants at the Royal Free Hospital as well as a resource packed with management tips,
frequently asked questions and common clinical queries. A tracked messaging system on
iConsult forwards e-mails to the Specialists, while a booking system for video conference
or phone calls is also provided.
Energy House Digital [http://www.energyhousedigital.co.uk ] built iConsult on the
basis of scalable web development platform Drupal. The secure code of open-source content
management framework Drupal makes sure that sensitive patient information is safely stored
and communicated only to authenticated users. Thanks to the multi-user capabilities of
Drupal, iConsult provides safe content for registered users while giving access to open
content for site visitors who are not logged in. Administrators working with iConsult can
update and customize the site to the specific needs of their individual departments. While
iConsult is presently launching as a pilot project in conjunction with the Centre for
Gastroenterology, adaptation for other areas of medical expertise is under development and
will be rolled out in the near future.
"The iConsult portal has been commissioned to help the Centre for Gastroenterology at
The Royal Free Hospital, London, communicate with and support general practitioners and
their patients", explains Tim Rayne, Project Lead iConsult, The Royal Free Charity.
"iConsult is different to other websites of this nature as it offers a number of different
channels of communication, which can be used incrementally from online common clinical
queries, through to optimal referral advice, to e-mail support, and ultimately to
telephone advice or a video call."
The site records time spent on the website by GPs and can be used as a resource for
Continuing Professional Development by providing a printable log of site visits and use.
Providing interaction channels, iConsult also works as a specialist support system with
the intention of involving specialists in the early stages of patient care by supplying
patient information. "We aim to improve patient experience by planning and knowing more
about them before they attend hospital so that they can be offered the most convenient
investigations with the fewest inconvenient journeys to hospital", adds Rayne.
"Communication through iConsult is pivotal in allowing us to make this ideal a reality."

CustomMade.com Introduces "Custom Concierge" To Make Bespoke Items More Accessible And Convenient
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CustomMade.com, (http://www.custommade.com) the first online marketplace connecting shoppers with skilled artisans to create custom home furnishings, jewelry and more, has announced the launch of its "Custom Concierge" service designed to make the custom process as easy as working with a personal shopper.
When you spot a fabulous item while shopping, flipping through a magazine or at a friend's house, simply snap a photo and send an e-mail with your budget and specific custom adjustments (color, design, dimensions, or materials) to concierge@custommade.com or makeitmine@custommade.com. The knowledgeable CustomMade team will search their database of 4,500 makers to find the best match to complete your project. Within 24 hours you're guaranteed to receive a reply with multiple price quotes. It's a simple way to give custom a try with no obligation to buy.
CustomMade Co-Founder Seth Rosen says this service completely changes the face of shopping. "To kick-off the New Year we want to institute a groundbreaking way to approach shopping - that disrupts the big-box store mentality. If you don't see it on the shelf, it doesn't mean you can't have it. With custom, the spectrum of items available is limitless and with "Custom Concierge" it's affordable, accessible and convenient. Even better - you can get that coffee table, chandelier, pendant or pair of cowboy boots made in America by an artisan who works with you to turn your vision into a reality."
The company's history is traced back to 1996 when woodworker Ted Whitenkraus developed the website to promote custom made furniture to consumers. In 2008, Seth Rosen purchased a custom made coffee table through the site and was thrilled with the quality and craftsmanship. Realizing the site had more potential, Rosen and his friend, Mike Salguero, immediately began raising funds to purchase the website. Today, CustomMade.com provides a one-stop shop for artisans to market themselves and shoppers who are looking for custom made products. The founders believe that custom is a service not a product. They are dedicated to simplifying and streamlining the process consumers use to acquire custom items. For more information visit http://www.custommade.com.
Online Marketplace Ensures No Holiday Gift Card Goes to Waste in 2013
EAST WINDSOR, N.J., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CardCash.com, the leading secondary online marketplace offering the largest selection of discounted gift cards, today announced its 'Cash Out' Post-Holiday Awareness Week, enabling the millions of Americans looking for something to do with their unwanted gift cards they received from their mom, co-worker and crazy uncle, to turn it into cash through its site.
CardCash.com buys back these unwanted gift cards for as much as 92% of the value of the card, delivering cash directly to the user's checking account, PayPal account, or additional convenient options. More than 23 million consumers still have unused gift cards from 2012 lying around gathering dust. This year, 85% of Americans said they were expecting to give out gift cards this past holiday season as a present. Through CardCash.com, none of these cards will go to waste.
"We all know just how easy it is to receive a gift card to a store or service you have no use for, say 'thank you', and then completely forget about it," said Elliot Bohm, CardCash.com CEO. "We aren't going to let that happen again this year though, which is why CardCash is hosting a special 'Cash Out' Awareness Week. Consumers need to think of every gift card - be it for their favorite or least favorite store - as cash. Rather than just not use it and have it buried on your desk at home, turn the card into quick cash so you can buy something you really want!"
From now through Thursday, Jan. 10, in the spirit of 'Cash Out' Awareness Week, CardCash.com is paying higher prices for gift cards, encouraging savvy shoppers to go to its website and exchange every last unwanted holiday gift card for cash, rather than be a contributor to the more than $60 billion of unused gift cards statistic in the U.S. Consumers can also look to trade their unwanted cards for cards to their favorite stores through the website, or simply use their new 'found' money to purchase discounted cards up to 35% off the value through CardCash.com.
Unlike other sites, all transactions at CardCash.com are done directly through its customer service department. There are no middlemen or unknown third parties. "We buy all the cards we sell, verify them extensively, and then sell or trade them to our customers at a discounted price," said Bohm.
CardCash.com currently offers the largest available online inventory, with 10,000 gift cards in stock, representing nearly 400 merchants. The website also allows consumers to sell or trade their fully charged or partially used cards to receive cash or another card they would prefer.
For more information, visit CardCash.com or call 1-800-CASH-214.
About CardCash.com
Ranked #68 on the Inc. 500's list of fastest growing private companies in America, CardCash.com is the leading online discounted gift card exchange, enabling customers to buy, sell or trade gift cards and save up to 35 percent on gift card purchases. According to a recent study, there are close to 60 billion dollars of unwanted and unused gift cards collecting dust in the United States. CardCash.com has been helping millions of Americans since its inception in 2006. And now, just a few years later, the Web site has reached a new level, transferring millions of dollars per year in gift cards to people who have no use for them to people who are anxious to save money on all of their shopping expenses. Headquartered in East Windsor, NJ, CardCash.com presently offers the largest selection of discounted gift cards online and has the highest standards of security implemented to identify fraudulent sellers and inaccurate cards.

TI ultra-low power converter to accelerate energy harvesting designs in consumer electronics, smart home
Tiny power circuit allows mobile accessories and wireless sensors to manage microwatts generated from solar, thermoelectric, magnetic and vibration energy
DALLAS, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Answering the question, "How low can you go with power?" Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) today introduced the industry's lowest power DC/DC step-down converter, which increases the amount of harvested energy an end application can use as much as 70 percent over alternative devices. The ultra-low power circuit enables battery-free power to applications, such as wireless sensor networks, monitoring systems, smoke detectors, wearable medical devices and mobile accessories.
"Imagine not having to change the battery in your smoke detector - ever," said Sami Kiriaki, senior vice president of TI's Power Management. "TI continues to develop circuits with very low operating current and high power efficiency that can manage microwatts to milliwatts and extract ambient energy. This new power circuit gives designers capabilities not possible with traditional battery-powered systems."
Lowest power DC/DC converter
TI's TPS62736 DC/DC converter delivers high power conversion efficiency from 10 uA to 50 mA output currents, and consumes only 350 nA of active current and 20 nA during standby. The converter achieves greater than 90-percent efficiency across output currents higher than 15 uA. The TPS62736 regulator steps down the voltage from a power source, such as a thin-filmorregular battery or a super capacitor and features a programmable output voltage.
Enabling energy harvesting design
Innovative power management, sensors and microcontrollers from TI are taking low-power design to the next level by optimizing extracted energy from ambient sources using the highest possible efficiency and lowest power consumption. In 2011, TI introduced its bq25504 boost charger circuit with a low quiescent current of 330nA, to allow start-up from single-cell solar cells under low light or thermoelectric generators with low temperature differences.
TI also recently announced sampling of its MSP430FR59xx microcontrollers based on its "Wolverine" technology platform. These new FRAM-based microcontrollers can operate as low as 360 nA in real-time clock mode or less than 100 uA/MHz in active power consumption, and feature fast wakeup time of 6.5 us and high-precision peripherals. The MSP430FR59xx enable developers to add flexibility, performance and battery life to a variety of applications, including wireless sensing, energy harvesting, smart grid, building automation and security.
Availability and pricing
The TPS62736 is currently sampling through TI. It comes in a 3.5-mm by 3.5-mm QFN package and is priced at US$2.00 in 1,000-unit quantities. Volume production is expected later in the first quarter. Evaluation modules are available to select customers.

Actiontec Achieves Broadband Forum BBF.069 CPE Certification for Remote Management
Actiontec C1000A VDSL2 Broadband Router is among the early CPE devices to pass the new BBF.069 Certification Program
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Actiontec Electronics today announced that its C1000A Wireless VDSL2 Modem Router has achieved BBF.069 CPE Certification, verifying that the device conforms with the TR-069 protocol for remote management. Actiontec, a longtime advocate for TR-069 remote management, is one of the early companies to pass the new BBF.069 CPE Certification Program, which was launched by the Broadband Forum in October 2012.
TR-069 is a global remote management standard, recommended by the ITU-T, used to provision and manage Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) in the connected home. The standard lets broadband service providers remotely configure and troubleshoot devices in the home, resulting in lower operational costs and better customer service.
The Broadband Forum BBF.069 CPE Certification indicates that the CPE device adheres to the Broadband Forum's TR-069 specifications. This gives broadband service providers an enhanced level of confidence that certified CPE devices will interoperate better with their remote management Auto-Configuration Servers.
"Actiontec has been deploying TR-069 managed products for more than eight years and more than 90% of our product shipments are TR-069 based, giving carriers the ability to remotely manage subscriber equipment on their networks," said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics. "We are pleased to achieve BBF.069 CPE Certification on our Wireless VDSL2 Modem Router, as it underscores our commitment to industry standards and interoperability."
"We congratulate Actiontec on their product's successful bid for BBF.069 CPE Certification and for their company's continued commitment to adherence to global standards. Certification provides a key indication that this product is market ready," said Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum.
According to figures published by the Broadband Forum, there are more than 624 million broadband subscribers today. As the number of broadband subscribers, services, and devices grow globally, there's a pressing need to ensure interoperability.
To achieve BBF.069 CPE Certification, a CPE device must pass all mandatory test cases within the TR-069 Conformance Test Plan. The University of New Hampshire-InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) is the official testing lab for the program.
"We are pleased to see that the number of certified devices is growing. Vendors dedicated to global standards enable the future of interoperability within the connected home eco-system. The UNH-IOL technical team continues to uphold our commitment to offer a high quality testing program for this certification," said Erica Johnson, Director for the UNH-IOL.
The Actiontec C1000A Wireless VDSL2 Modem Router is an ultra-broadband VDSL2 home router and is part of Actiontec's large family of CPE products that share common hardware and software features, including BBF.069 capabilities. Actiontec has sold more than 30 million connected home devices to date.
Founded in 1988, the UNH-IOL provides independent, broad-based interoperability and standards conformance testing for data, telecommunications and storage networking products and technologies. Combining extensive staff experience, standards bodies participation and a 32,000+ square foot facility, the UNH-IOL helps companies efficiently and cost effectively deliver products to the market. Orion Forges New Technology Partnership With Orchestrate
Integrated Services Between the two Technology Firms Will Bring New Efficiencies to Advisors
OMAHA, Neb. and DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Orion Advisor Services, LLC ("Orion"), a premier portfolio accounting service provider, announced today that it has integrated services with Orchestrate, LLC ("Orchestrate"), the creator of ProcessComposer®, in a partnership to leverage both firms' technology built by advisors for advisors.
Both Orion and Orchestrate were originally created by investment advisory firms searching for technology solutions to better enable their respective firm's growth and service models. In their quest to deliver their technologies to additional advisory firms, Orion and Orchestrate have embedded their technologies inside Salesforce's AppExchange, and have now entered into agreements to leverage each other's respective technologies.
Orion's integration with ProcessComposer provides advisors with dozens of ready-to-go workflows, streamlining repeatable tasks ranging from client meeting preparation to executing trades and rebalancing. In addition, Foster Group Inc., the independent, fee-only advisory firm where Orchestrate originated, is currently implementing the Orion portfolio accounting system to support its portfolio accounting needs.
"Through each of these integrations, our firms have collectively pulled together the pieces of the technology puzzle that once created inefficiencies for advisors," said Travis Rychnovsky, Chief Executive Officer and President of Orchestrate. "The evolution of advisor-centric technology allows advisors to gain mutual efficiencies in order to better focus on the needs of clients, and these partnerships are a major stepping stone toward achieving that objective."
ProcessComposer, a Salesforce CRM product, is a robust workflow tool designed with the financial services industry in mind, and also serves a wide variety of other service-heavy industries. It is a smart engine designed to compose and execute even the most complex processes.
"Our advisors will immediately reap the benefits of integrating ProcessComposer into their workflows," said Eric Clarke, President of Orion. "Our firms have taken paths similar to this partnership through a collective realization that the best technologies to help advisors are those created by advisors."
The partnership stems from two technology firms' shared philosophy that began as the IT operations of RIAs, which are now aligned to leverage their unique expertise and make practices scalable. Orion was started in 1999 to address the needs of its sister company, CLS Investments, LLC ("CLS"), a professional money management firm and SEC Registered Investment Adviser. CLS will be implementing ProcessComposer within the first few months of this year.

The Forex-Assistant Invites a New Cohort of Investors into the Foreign Exchange Currency Market with the Introduction of Retirement Investment Software (RISE)
GREENVILLE, S.C., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The development team at The Forex-Assistant has unveiled a new software tool that will certainly pique the interest of retirement-minded investors. Dubbed Retirement Investment Software, or RISE, this tool offers a compelling 12% yearly return and an ironclad record of performance. During the 2008 financial crisis, for instance, the software only lost money on a single trade out of more than 3,000.
The Forex-Assistant's RISE software operates on the foreign exchange currency market (forex), which is inherently safer and more reliable than commodities markets or stock exchanges. The forex market exists solely to provide a trading space for the world's money. It doesn't suffer from bubbles, and it's far too large for any one entity to manipulate values or drive out small investors. The forex market is also the most liquid market in the world, meaning that money can be instantly withdrawn from an account.
RISE is intelligent software for automated investing, a convenient merger of technology with capital markets. Operating around the clock, the RISE investment robot operates according to a set of predetermined parameters, arrived at after years of painstaking research. The robot is far more efficient and economical than a human trader could ever be. Users can install RISE on their own computers, or access the software through the cloud. When the software is connected to a brokerage account, it executes trades automatically.
The purpose of RISE is quite simple - to open up the previously uncertain ground of the foreign exchange currency market to smaller investors looking for safe, reliable returns. These sorts of returns are ideal for someone looking for a stable retirement income, over and above Social Security.
"We saw an excellent opportunity to create an approach to the forex market that fits the needs of small money investors and retirees," said Bob Llewellyn, head of research and development at The Forex-Assistant. "No one looks forward to the thought of living on a small fixed income. Our Retirement Investment Software leverages the power of technology to take the worry and frustration out of investing. The software was five years in the making, and we're extremely pleased with the result."
Due to trading and investment laws, American citizens are not necessarily free to engage in the forex market at will. However, The Forex-Assistant offers straightforward, legal alternatives for Americans who want to take advantage of the RISE software. In a nutshell, this involves setting up an international business corporation, or IBC. More information about this process is available here: http://forex-assistant.com/us-citizens/.
The Forex-Assistant continues to study the currency exchange markets, looking for new and innovative approaches to making money safely and reliably. Those wishing to take RISE for a "test drive" can request a demo and practice account free with no obligation.
About The Forex-Assistant
A worldwide company that operates on the Internet, The Forex-Assistant was established in 2007. The company's mission is to provide the tools for anyone to achieve a reliable, passive income regardless of their geographic location. SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today announced the availability of the Marvell(®) DragonFly(TM) NVDRIVE, a turnkey enterprise-class PCIe SSD caching solution with built-in SSD modules that extends the company's award-winning DragonFly NVCACHE and NVRAM adapter product offerings first announced last August. Targeted for large-scale Internet and cloud computing datacenters, the DragonFly NVDRIVE dramatically scales both bare metal and virtualized server applications, including Web servers, OLTP and analytic databases, as well as NoSQL and big data distributed applications.
"The NVDRIVE is a game-changing extension of the popular DragonFly NVRAM and NVCACHE family. It delivers the same unprecedented application acceleration as the existing NVCACHE solution, but now seamlessly integrates with onboard SSD modules for plug-and-play ease of use," said Alan Armstrong, vice president of marketing of Marvell Semiconductor's Storage Business Group. "The innovative application of non-volatile DDR memory, highly optimized caching algorithms, and entry enterprise SSD modules creates a converged solution that is ideally suited for mixed-workload cloud data centers. The NVDRIVE raises the bar on affordability and performance, and its unique cache automation and consistent write latency capabilities will be sought after by both OEM and cloud computing customers who require predictable performance at reasonable costs."
The DragonFly NVDRIVE is powered by Marvell's world-class storage SoC technology and seamlessly merges large capacity non-volatile DRAM with onboard SSD modules to enable up to 100 times higher performance for random read- and write-heavy application workloads as compared to traditional disk-based solutions. Additionally, automated caching removes the guesswork, maintenance and high capital costs required by manual data tiering approaches. Unique to the industry, DragonFly writeback caching is fully powered by ARM-based storage processors and enables storage administrators to configure granular cache policies at either a file or block level.
Data protection and reliability are ensured via intelligent RAID software and peer-to-peer synchronous mirroring to prevent data loss against any failure - server, adapter, SSD module or NAND components. An ultra-thin filter driver residing in Linux or Xen is transparent to applications and supports caching across all storage protocols, including SCSI (local DAS), NFS, iSCSI, FCoE and FCP.
Marvell's partners and OEMs are already expressing strong enthusiasm for the DragonFly NVDRIVE. "The SanDisk X100 mSATA SSDs provide small form factor, low-latency, high-performance and cost-effective non-volatile storage for the Marvell DragonFly NVDRIVE," said Kevin Conley, senior vice president and general manager, Client Storage Solutions at SanDisk. "Optimized for entry level enterprise workloads, the Marvell NVDRIVE based on the X100 SSDs provides an ideal solution for customers seeking performance demanding business-critical data center applications."
"As organizations increasingly adopt both virtualization and cloud storage solutions, their demand for powerful and intelligent plug-and-play acceleration of their IO and applications will only increase," said Mark Peters, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "And, of course, this enhanced performance should ideally be delivered with a simultaneous TCO reduction to help IT professionals juggle demands where the only certainty is growth. Solutions such as Marvell's DragonFly NVDRIVE possess the ability to deliver this desired combination, and reflect an entire industry that's focused on delivering a storage model - whether on premise or in the cloud - that is effective, efficient and sustainable."
Feature highlights of the Dragonfly NVDRIVE include:
-- Up to 1.5 TB of useable SSD capacity with the industry's largest
integrated non-volatile DRAM cache.
-- Highly predictable performance across mixed write/read workloads. Cache
mode sustained performance exceeds 200,000 4K random IOPS, 3GBps

"Silentium's noise reduction solutions focus on improving the quality of life," says
Silentium CEO Yossi Barath. "We develop technology that allows manufacturers to introduce
premium products and to elevate the "Consumer Experience", while eliminating the stress,
discomfort and health problems associated with exposure to noise.
Silentium's QB(TM) technology reduces disturbing noise. It captures and cancels out
ambient noise in the environment, ensuring a "Zones of Quiet" around an individual. QB(TM)
is based on Silentium's proprietary Zone-to-Zone Spatial Active Noise Control, which
produces opposing signals (anti-noise) with the same amplitude but with the opposite phase
as the disturbing, intrusive noise, providing a significant reduction in noise level.
The QB(TM) technology is available for manufacturers (OEMs and ODMs) to develop new
products and/or to apply within their line of products and present a breakthrough in the
consumer market.
Silentium is already collaborating with leading OEMs and ODMs, reducing noise
