Inventors Patent Method for Creating New Dimensions
Shuster Team Receives Patent #8,276,071 for "Multi-Instance, Multi-User Animation Platforms"
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The inventing team of Gary and Brian Shuster received their 80(th) patent this week, Patent #8,276,071 for "Multi-Instance, Multi-User Animation Platforms", a method for the creation of "parallel dimensions so as to prevent over-population of any one of the parallel dimensions" in a Virtual-Reality Universe.
While this invention may not solve the over-population problems of the real world, it does solve the over-population problems of virtual worlds, allowing "massively multiplayer" environments to host thousands or even millions of users in the same virtual area, or to attend the same virtual event.
"Prior generations of online games and virtual worlds have been forced to limit the number of players in an area to only a few dozen at most," said Brian, CEO of Utherverse, Inc., a virtual-world software development company. "This technology removes these population limits and allows Utherverse to have concerts and conventions that hundreds of thousands of users can enjoy together and simultaneously."
While games like World of Warcraft and first-generation virtual-worlds such as Second Life may have millions of players at one time, they are forced to limit the number of players in any given area to just a handful. Shuster believes these limitations will soon be a thing of the past.
"Imagine if web sites were limited to displaying their content to only 50 people at a time. There would be no Facebook, no Google, no YouTube," Brian said, comparing the internet to virtual worlds. "We now have technology that will allow virtual worlds to host millions of users simultaneously. The Shusters have also recently been issued patents #8,049,756 "Time-dependent client inactivity indicia in a multi-user animation environment", #8,259,117 "Avatar eye control in a multi-user animation environment" and #8,167,724 "Guest management in an online multi-player virtual reality game."

According to Toluna QuickSurveys, 45% of US iPad Owners Disgruntled With Timing of New iPad 4 Launch
iPad Mini still set to be a hit though the Kindle Fire is more popular
WILTON, Conn., Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Within 24 hours of Apple CEO Tim Cook's unveiling of the new iPad as well as the iPad Mini, Toluna QuickSurveys has the first reliable consumer reaction to the launch via a survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers online. The survey found 45% of U.S. iPad owners feel disgruntled that Apple has released a new iPad 4 only seven months after the release of the latest iPad 3.
Reaction to the iPad Mini was more positive with 14% of respondents saying they will 'definitely buy one' and a further 32% say they will 'probably buy one.' However, when directly asked which device they would prefer out of the iPad Mini, Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 Tablet, the Kindle came out on top with 46%, followed by the iPad Mini (40%) and Nexus a distant third (14%).
Size was the major factor driving demand for the iPad Mini with 25% saying it was the most impressive feature, followed by "speed and performance" (22%) and enhanced battery life (22%).
The survey also asked U.S. consumers about their general attitude toward Apple. More than 1 in 4 (26%) believe Apple's reputation has been tarnished by the iMaps fiasco following the iPhone 5 release, and nearly half (45%) believe Apple is an inferior company since current CEO Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs.

preferring the cellular version.
-- Environmental friendly materials are a key driver for more than
one-third of US consumers with 35% claiming the environmentally friendly
and recyclable materials will positively impact their decision to buy
one.
-- The iPad Mini is set to become a hot holiday gift with 1 in 5 (21%)
planning to buy the tablet as a holiday gift.
-- The double camera was the least impactful feature with only 7%
nominating it as a standout feature.
Methodology:
This survey was conducted online within the United States on October 23, 2012 among 2,000 adults (aged 18 and over). Respondents for this survey were selected from among those who have agreed to participate in Toluna surveys online. Figures for age, gender, education, race/ethnicity and region were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the online population. In addition, the percentage of iPad owners was weighted to their proportion in the online population. Because the sample is based on those who agreed to participate in Toluna surveys, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.

QFN packages and kits
The ROHS-compliant QFN packages of the CC2560 and CC2564 Bluetooth v4.0 devices are available today through TI and its distributors. To further help design efforts, TI encourages customers to download from its wiki a two-layer reference design (schematics, layout and bill of materials) that can be copied and pasted into end applications.
TI will release full-featured evaluation boards and design materials for hardware and software prototyping with the CC2560 and CC2564 QFN devices later this quarter.
Production-ready modules and kits
In addition to the two modules previously announced, four new complete, validated and certified modules are now available from TI partners. The modules vary in size, temperature range and output power--including Class 1 and Class 2 versions. One module also offers a pre-integrated MCU plus CC2564 solution for faster development.
Software development kits for Bluetooth and Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy solutions are currently available. Customers can also access sample applications and demos provided in source code showing API usage.
Software for QFN devices and modules
A royalty-free Bluetooth stack and various profiles are provided pre-integrated on MCUs such as TI's ultra-low power MSP430((TM)) MCU and Stellaris(®) ARM(®) Cortex((TM))-M3/M4 MCUs.
TI will also release an updated Bluetooth stack in mid-4Q 2012. The new stack will offer flexible software build options that will enable customers to select specific profiles to support. This capability allows for greater memory size optimization and the ability to support a broader range of MCUs.
