Bang & Olufsen commemorates its 90th Birthday with the Love Affair Collection
Launching a carefully selected range of its iconic products, Bang & Olufsen now offers admirers the chance to enjoy these products in a new rose golden nuance as part of this exclusive collection.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark and DEERFIELD, Ill., March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Love Affair Collection, announced by Bang & Olufsen today, sees six of the company's current products rejuvenated with a new palette option in keeping with the surge in interest towards beautiful materials - especially rose gold, which is experiencing a renaissance in the jewelry industry. One of the most emotive aspects is its underlying meaning. While white gold represents friendship and yellow gold means fidelity, rose gold represents love and is therefore the ultimate inspiration for this collection.
During the roaring 20s, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen started their journey into technology when it was still an almost magical phenomenon, and with the accompanying flourish of Art Deco, it was clear that luxury, glamour and exuberance were at the heart of the time. Fast-forward 90 years and the company is pleased to launch a collection that truly captures the mood and style of the time, setting the stage for a love affair that could last the ages. Combined with the warm colour fabrics recently developed in a cooperation with fashion designer Stine Goya, the company hopes it will truly capture the hearts of customers who have enjoyed a love affair with the company over the years.
"We see this exclusive collection as a living illustration of the love affair that has lasted from our origin, where the passion and dedication to craftsmanship and quality of two Danish engineers Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen has caught the attention of people all over the world," states Marie Kristine Schmidt, VP Brand, Design and Marketing.
The radiant and romantic Rose golden nuance is achieved through a unique dyeing process, which in itself inspires our designers to create concepts that can match any style and any age, where the only limit is their imagination. This, combined with warm and elegant walnut wood, bridges past and present to represent the passion, pride and persistence that has been driving Bang & Olufsen for the last 90 years.
The Love Affair Collection consists of the following six current products; the first is the majestic and recently launched BeoVision Avant 85, and then the all-in one entertainment solution BeoVision 11-46 and BeoRemote One. Also included in the range is the extremely popular magic-touch BeoPlay A9 music system and the elegant, lightweight BeoPlay H6 headphones. Last but certainly not least, the collection will include the classic, slender and straight-lined BeoLab 18 with a new walnut lamella front and a cabinet in a stunningly elegant rose golden version.

The Global MVNO project complements a domestic MVNO for the Japanese market, launched inOctober 2014.
"Increasingly, our connected products are bridging the gap between our traditional consumer heritage and our increased B2B focus. Panasonic Nubo is an example of this kind of cross-over product, it utilises M2M technologies, but is targeted to consumers who are looking for freedom and flexibility in use and deployment," added Mr Arizono.

Gionee Announces Its Latest Ultra Smartphone ELIFE S7 at Mobile World Congress 2015
BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Gionee, leading global provider of mobile devices and the current GUINNESS WORLD RECORD® holder for the thinnest smartphone, announced its latest Ultra Smartphone ELIFE S7 at this year's Mobile World Congress. Developed under the 'making slim to perfection' product development philosophy, the S7 focuses on performance and user experience more than just ultra slim design.
"We believe ELIFE S7 will bring the future of slim smartphones to the next level. To make ever-slimmer phones, compromising on performance and function is pointless. Manufacturers should offer more features benefiting user experience other than just slimness," said William Lu, president of Gionee.
More Solid -- ULTRA SLIM, FULL METAL Skeleton DESIGN
Inspired by the U-shape design of railway tracks, the ELIFE S7 features Iconic frame design, beautifully merging a high glossy finish and metal effect with two parallel metal light lines. The unique ergonomic side profile provides an extremely comfortable grip for one-handed use.
The metal used on S7 is aviation level aluminum magnesium alloy, making the skeleton solid and durable with no worry of bending in pockets like competitors' slim products.
Despite the durable metal, both the back and front have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection against scratches -- ultimately creating a combination of hardness and softness to bring maximum protection to the device.
Longer Battery life -- Lasts All Day
High power consumption has always been a big problem for ultra slim phones. To enable the battery to last for a whole day, the S7 is equipped with a 595 density 2750 mAh battery, which is the highest among ultra slim phones in the market. In addition, Gionee has optimized both the hardware and software performance to lower battery consumption, bringing energy efficiency to users' fingertips.
With industry leading Synchronous heartbeat technology and the intelligent control background, the background can reduce the number of times the system wakes up by tracking energy use over time and killing unauthorized apps.
In terms of the user interface, according to the illumination feature of AMOLED screen, the user interface has been optimized. S7 features a unique extreme mode, which automatically enables 10% of remaining battery power to potentially last for 33 hours 45 minutes standby time by freezing functions except calling and text messages to ensure basic communications.
With the MTK 6752 OCTA core 64 bit 1.7 GHz processor, the HPM technology enables the processors to run at a high speed and remain at an ultra-low power consumption level.
Better and Faster Camera. Capture the Moments.
A flat 13MP camera imbedded in the S7 looks more natural. Gionee's self-developed 'Image+' image processing system enables users to shoot stunningly high quality images with easier user experience. Toshiba Targets Wearable Devices With Latest Additions to ApP Lite(TM) Processor Family
Expands TZ1000 series processor lineup for Internet of Things applications
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today introduced the latest additions to its TZ1000 series of ApP Lite(TM) processors targeting the Internet of Things (IoT). The TZ1011MBG and TZ1031MBG application processors are designed to help developers meet the fast-growing demand for wearable IoT devices such as activity monitors, smart watches, bracelets and glasses.
Last year, Toshiba launched the TZ1001MBG and TZ1021MBG, which integrate sensors, an ARM(®) Cortex(®)-M4F processor, 8Mbit Flash memory and a Bluetooth(®) Low Energy (BLE) communication controller and 3-axis accelerometer in a single package, providing the essentials for a small-scale IoT device. The new application processors further expand sensing functionality, adding a 3-axis gyroscope to the TZ1031MBG and a 3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis magnetometer to the TZ1011MBG.
"There has been an explosion of interest in services that monitor duration and level of physical activity, help improve nutrition and help prevent diseases related to lifestyle - all of which drives demand for wearable devices," noted Saba Sharifi, vice president, business development, Logic LSI Business Unit, System LSI Group at TAEC. "With their high degree of integration, Toshiba's newest ApP Lite processors make it possible to realize wearable devices without any other components - enabling a smaller form factor and, in turn, smaller, lighter wearables."
The new processors are expressly designed for the low-power performance essential to securing a longer battery life for wearable devices. The high-performance ARM core with DSP and floating-point processing unit allows combining data from multiple sensors, both internal and external, to improve accuracy.
The products integrate a 24-bit high-resolution delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with high-speed switches connected to three input channels, making them capable of measuring weak biomedical signals such as pulse rate and the heart's electrical activity. In addition, integration of the BLE controller and RF circuit allows transfer of raw and processed data to external equipment, such as smartphones and tablets.
Toshiba is further expanding its lineup of systematic solutions for the TZ1000 series with the development of software algorithms that can be applied to measuring weak biomedical signals, such as pulse and ECG. Meanwhile, Toshiba is providing an evaluation environment for developers to shorten the time to market for products integrating its application processors.

Another Year of Robust Growth and Record Shipments for Branded Data Center Switches, Reports Crehan Research
Despite White Box Offerings, 2014 Branded Switch Growth Exceeds That of 2013
SAN FRANCISCO, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Branded data center Ethernet switches experienced another year of robust shipment growth for the full calendar year 2014, according to the most recent data center switch report from Crehan Research Inc. The report shows that customer deployments of branded data center Ethernet switches grew ten percent in 2014, a slight increase over the 2013 growth rate, despite an increase in white box switch offerings. Crehan's report further shows that branded Ethernet switch shipments in the high-speed top-of-rack, or fixed, segment - where white box switch offerings are most prevalent - increased by almost 40% in 2014 (see accompanying chart).
"Most of the white box and ODM-direct switch market volume is still driven by a few of the very large, hyper-scale cloud service providers, and its growth has remained largely a function of these few service providers building out their data center networks," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research. "Over the past few years, the branded data center switch vendors have really narrowed the gap on the perceived advantages of white box switches," he said. "Although it varies by vendor, this has included lowering prices significantly, incorporation of more merchant silicon, offering more programmability and SDN features, disaggregation of hardware and software, and bringing open compute and networking designs to market."
Besides the continued robust growth in branded data center Ethernet switching, notable 2014 results from Crehan's report include:
-- 40 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) data center switch shipments more than
tripled, while revenues more than doubled.
-- 10GBASE-T data center switching rapidly expanded in 2014, exiting the
year with an annual run rate of over two million ports.
-- Despite steep price declines in some of the individual data center
Ethernet switch segments, overall market pricing remained relatively
stable in 2014 due to greater adoption of higher-speed switches, which
carry a price premium.
-- The Fibre Channel switch market returned to revenue growth in 2014, as
higher average selling prices more than offset a slight annual shipment
decline.
In its mid-2014 long-range forecast report, Crehan Research forecast stable overall market pricing in data center switches as a result of a strong migration to higher-speed switches. While this played out for the full-year 2014, Crehan says the pricing environment going forward may become more competitive.

Additionally, this powerful DX-format DSLR offers users the versatility to shoot at 6 frames-per-second (fps) continuously or up to 7 fps in 1.3x crop mode, a popular shooting mode for both sports and wildlife photographers.

NextVR Incorporates Light Field Technology Into Virtual Reality Experience
Supports Positional Tracking Within Live-Action Video; Expands Platform To Emerging Volumetric AR Displays
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NextVR, a pioneer in immersive 3D broadcast quality VR experiences, today announced they will incorporate light field capture technology into their virtual reality platform. Delivering a massive leap forward for the virtual experience, viewers will be able to adjust their view by peering around objects within a live VR scene.
This breakthrough provides the viewer with a heightened sense of immersion never before possible in live-action VR. For example, when attending a live-action basketball game in virtual reality, the viewer will be able to look around a referee who may be standing in the way, or those at a rock concert in VR can look behind the lead singer to see the drummer.
NextVR, having invested three years of research and development into incorporation of light field technology, has several patents filed around the use of light field capture and stereoscopic view-synthesis. The patents support the use of light fields and positional tracking for capture and display of immersive environments.
Content captured with NextVR's patent protected technology will be viewable natively in volumetric display devices (e.g. Microsoft's HoloLens or Magic Leap's rumored digital light field display), and NextVR is the only company with the ability to deliver real time, live-action content to the full gamut of VR and AR displays coming to market.
"This innovation is a required next step toward creating the 'holodeck'," said Dave Cole, co-founder, NextVR. "By incorporating dynamically-generated 3D geometry with ultra-high resolution stereoscopic video, we've created most the vivid and life-like VR experience currently possible."
About Light Field Technology
Light field technology, used in still photography in recent years, captures the direction from which light enters the camera as well as the intensity and color of the light. Using a proprietary technique, NextVR is applying light field information to build highly accurate geometric models of the entire captured scene. When this data is combined with NextVR's existing 6K, high-dynamic-range, high-frame-rate stereoscopic video data, the result is a completely photo-realistic, ultra-high-resolution video environment in which viewers are free to look around like never before possible. Using VR devices that support positional tracking (e.g. Oculus's upcoming consumer products, Sony Morpheus and the newly announced Vive from Valve/HTC), viewers will be able to alter their point of view within the video, in any direction, with six-degrees of freedom.
About NextVR
NextVR is the only virtual reality technology company with an end-to-end solution for 3D broadcast quality capture and delivery of live-action and on-demand VR experiences. NextVR's ultra-high quality platform delivers premium VR content for end users and partners. Launched in 2009, NextVR has a vast IP portfolio with more than twenty-one patents granted and pending for the capture, compression, transmission, and display of virtual reality content. Founded by veterans in stereoscopic imaging technology, software development and an award-winning filmmaker. For more information, go to http://www.nextvr.com/

Frost & Sullivan Lauds InfinityAR's Innovative Approach to Delivering Superior Augmented Reality Experiences
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the augmented reality application developer engines market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Infinity Augmented Reality, Inc. (InfinityAR) with the 2015 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation Leadership. InfinityAR has clearly emerged as a leading innovator in the augmented reality application developer engine space with its low-cost and simple hardware, which provides product developers a balance between price and performance.
<http://photos.prnasia.com/prnh/20150228/8521501221> Infinity Augmented Reality Award Conventional AR solutions rely on 3D depth sensors that actively project light onto the world. These sensors demand a lot of power due to the active projection and the required computations. In comparison, by using a passive, natural stereoscopic camera and efficient computer vision algorithms that do not require the entire CPU to process data, InfinityAR's technology requires only one-tenth the power needed by conventional technologies.
Similarly, InfinityAR's peer solutions often need separate hardware, such as 3D cameras or additional sensors, for light and motion tracking. InfinityAR addresses the need for low-power, affordable sensors for 3D scene representation with a pair of standard VGA 2D cameras placed next to each other as a stereoscopic solution. This innovative approach helps deliver the same functionalities as conventional technologies, while using fewer hardware components.
"The unique InfinityAR Engine can be scaled to cater to advanced functionalities in various product lines," said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Swapnadeep Nayak. "It provides image-matching capabilities to accurately identify the same point within an image frame from different locations at different points of time. This feature also facilitates the provision of more personalized content, as obtaining the position of the wearable device in 3D space is no longer a hindrance for the developers."
InfinityAR's functionality finds usage in wearable devices, mobile, smart TV, connected car, and tablet markets. The solution can be applied to diverse verticals, including online gaming; the tourism industry to allow tourists to first virtually experience their preferred destination; and in retail to better acquaint buyers with a product's look, features, and dimensions, without seeing or handling the physical product.
The physical object digitalization module incorporated in the InfinityAR engine aids superior simulation of real-world settings. Through a dense stereo-matching technique, the technology can accurately understand the environment type, transparent or reflective, and the light source around the object.
"While conventional solutions only incorporate voice recognition technology, InfinityAR incorporates machine-learning algorithms for advanced control-and-gesture natural user interaction," noted Swapnadeep. "This technology module enables users to not only interact with virtual objects through gestures, but also to control virtual, augmented reality objects through direct contact; for instance, handling and moving virtual objects in 3D space by hand."
In recognition of its efforts to advance augmented reality technology, InfinityAR has earned the 2015 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated uniqueness in developing and leveraging new technologies, which significantly impacts both the functionality and the customer value of the new products and applications. The award lauds the high R&D spend toward innovation, its relevance to the industry, and the positive impact on brand perception.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
