Qualcomm Announces Next Generation Biometrics Solution with its New Snapdragon Sense(TM) ID 3D Fingerprint Technology
- Company Extends Security Leadership with Mobile Industry's First Comprehensive 3D Fingerprint Authentication Solution based on Ultrasonic Technology -
BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QTI), a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), is extending its mobile security leadership with the launch of Qualcomm(®) Snapdragon Sense(TM) ID 3D Fingerprint Technology, the mobile industry's first 3D fingerprint authentication technology based on ultrasonic technology. QTI's offering is designed to provide enhanced authentication capabilities, usability and integration over legacy capacitive touch-based fingerprint technologies by utilizing technology developed for government-grade biometric solutions. This new authentication platform utilizes Qualcomm® SecureMSM((TM)) technology and the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) specification to provide password-less authentication, further improving interoperability among online devices and addressing the challenge of creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. This new standard for mobile device authentication and browser plug-ins is designed to allow any website or cloud application that offers FIDO authentication to interface with a broad variety of existing and future FIDO devices.
QTI's ultrasonic fingerprint technology has a number of distinct advantages over capacitive touch-based fingerprint technologies, including the ability to scan through a smartphone cover that is made of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, sapphire and plastics. This distinct and valuable advantage provides QTI's OEM customers with the flexibility to design a new generation of elegant, innovative and differentiated devices. The user experience is also improved by being able to scan through various contaminants that might be present on the finger, such as sweat, hand lotion and condensation, providing a more consistent and accurate method of authentication. Additionally, QTI's ultrasonic-based solution uses sound waves to directly penetrate the outer layers of skin, detecting three-dimensional details and unique fingerprint characteristics, including fingerprint ridges and sweat pores that are not possible to detect with current capacitive touch-based fingerprint technologies. The result is a highly detailed surface map of the fingerprint which is difficult to imitate or spoof.
"Mobile devices increasingly store our most valuable and sensitive information, while passwords alone do not provide the protection consumers deserve," said Raj Talluri, senior vice president, product management, QTI. "Snapdragon Sense ID 3D Fingerprint Technology's unique use of ultrasonic technology revolutionizes biometrics from 2D to 3D, allowing for greater accuracy, privacy and stronger authentication. We are very proud to bring the mobile industry's first ultrasonic-based biometric authentication technology to mobile device manufacturers and their customers, who will benefit from the improved and differentiated user experience."
QTI's Snapdragon Sense ID 3D Fingerprint Technology consists of a Qualcomm biometric integrated circuit (QBIC), custom sensor technology, and algorithms managed by SecureMSM technology, which is at the foundation of all of QTI's security features that helps to secure user privacy and personal data on-device. This groundbreaking technology is being introduced in conjunction with the Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 425 processors. Snapdragon Sense ID 3D fingerprint technology is designed to be compatible with all Snapdragon 400 series, 600 series and 800 series processors.
Additionally, QTI is supporting further biometric authentication advancements by serving on the FIDO Alliance and IBIA (International Biometric Industry Association) Board of Directors and working closely with other ecosystem leaders to effectively create leading innovative biometrics solutions. QTI's revolutionary Snapdragon Sense ID 3D Fingerprint Technology, based on QTI's own unique client technology together with Nok Nok Labs' S3 Authentication Suite provides the mobile industry's first password-less authentication based on ultrasonic technology, paving the way for future biometric authentication advancements.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID 3D Fingerprint Technology is expected to be available in commercial devices later this year and is already in various sampling stages with most major OEMs.

MediaTek Labs Launches New Partner Program to Help Bring Wearables and IoT Devices to Market Faster
MediaTek Labs Partner Connect provides matchmaking for developers and partners in support of MediaTek LinkIt(TM)
BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its global developer initiative, MediaTek today announced MediaTek Labs Partner Connect at this year's Mobile World Congress. The new supply chain partner program will help developers of Wearables and IoT devices design and launch their products based on MediaTek LinkIt(TM) by matching them with members of MediaTek's extensive network of partners.
Today's launch complements existing development platform offerings from MediaTek Labs and aims to reduce time to market for developers of new Wearables and IoT devices:
-- MediaTek LinkIt is a portfolio of development platforms - currently
consisting of MediaTek LinkIt ONE and MediaTek LinkIt Connect 7681- for
Wearables and IoT, offering a broad range of connectivity options and
the software and hardware development kits (SDKs, HDKs from Seeed Studio
and Modules from AcSiP) needed for makers to create their own devices
powered by MediaTek chipsets.
-- MediaTek Cloud Sandbox (also launched today) is a complimentary
cloud-based IoT platform and playground to store, display and remotely
access IoT device data during prototyping.
-- MediaTek Labs Partner Connect will assist registered developers of
MediaTek Labs in finding appropriate supply chain partners to help with
design, development and manufacturing, sourcing of MediaTek chipset
based modules and other key components. MediaTek ODM partners have
available off-the-shelf reference designs to rapidly serve developers
with different design capabilities.
"Taking any Wearables or IoT project beyond the prototype stage can be a daunting prospect, whether you're a small startup or an established company making its first foray into new devices," said Marc Naddell, VP of MediaTek Labs. "To make the path to market easier, MediaTek Labs Partner Connect will help developers find the partners they need to make their ideas a reality."
To gain access to Partner Connect matchmaking services, Labs member companies submit their Wearables or IoT projects to the Labs confidential Device Solutions Catalog and select the "Seeking Partner" option. MediaTek Labs will then help evaluate the business case and technical feasibility of the device, and, once vetted and approved, a partner manager will get to work finding the right partners in MediaTek's network.
MediaTek Labs Partner Connect is the latest initiative to expand the company's 17-year legacy of working closely across a wide ecosystem of TV, phone, tablet, navigation, router, gaming and multimedia customers. Over the years, MediaTek has provided efficient, turnkey solutions that give these clients a cost-effective and rapid time to market for their new devices and has taken many start-ups from humble beginnings to established, global enterprises. Now MediaTek is extending partner network to developers and makers in the Wearables and IoT space through MediaTek Labs Partner Connect.

MediaTek Multi-Mode Wireless Charging Chipset Enters Mass Production
Industry's first multi-mode charging chipset to be made available for consumer use
BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MediaTek, today announced that its MT3188, the industry-first multi-mode wireless charging integrated circuit (IC), is now commercially available to customers. The reference design, which includes the power electronics, supervisory circuit, and resonator has already passed three certifications including the A4WP, WPC and PMA standards groups. The mass production of this chipset makes MediaTek the first semiconductor company in the world to make multi-mode wireless charging chipsets available in devices for billions of consumers worldwide.
MT3188 is compatible with the A4WP resonant wireless charging standard as well as the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA) inductive wireless charging standards with no increase in cost over single mode resonant solutions. By supporting multi-mode wireless charging, the MT3188 offers handset manufacturers and other device makers the ability to seamlessly charge their products from any of the main stream chargers in the market, today.
Users of MT3188 based solutions experience the benefit of freedom of placement, inherent multiple device charging, and distance charging with the A4WP's Rezence(TM) ( )technology and the convenience of access to existing inductive chargers in the market.
"MediaTek again demonstrates market leadership by allowing our customers to be first to market with multi-protocol solutions that remove the confusion over multiple standards. This demonstrates our commitment to broadening the accessibility of quality technology for everyone in the world," SR Tsai, General Manager of MediaTek's Wireless Connectivity and Networking Business Unit said. "The smart receiver resonator architecture not only simplifies design but also delivers a seamless user experience when charging devices across different pads. We recognized the need in the market and have delivered an efficient solution at speed."
"Mediatek offers a path to speed up the wireless charger market development," said Jerry Chi, president of Billion Digital Technology, well known as the brand of Kupiin. "Global standards are the reason the wireless charger market will ramp up, but the endless standards battle currently slows down the growth, and there is no sign these standards will be unified. MediaTek has provided a much-needed solution to ease customers' pain points and simultaneously drive stronger growth in this area."
MT3188's multi-mode wireless charging support is A4WP BSS 1.2 certified, Qi 1.1.2 certified; and PMA 1.0 certified. The MT3188 is currently in mass production and will be adopted into products enabling multimode wireless charging - from smartphones and tablets to wearables.

Movius' myIDs Secure To Be Shown With Samsung KNOX At Mobile World Congress In Barcelona
Movius Welcomed Into Samsung Enterprise Alliance Program As An Official Silver Partner
Samsung Vendor Addresses Increasing Enterprise BYOD Concerns With Split Billing, Multi-Line Voice And Messaging Capabilities On A Single SIM Card
ATLANTA, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Movius Corporation, the global leader in mobile identities and converged messaging solutions, announced today that it has been accepted as an official Silver Partner within the Samsung Enterprise Alliance Program (SEAP). The goal of SEAP is to enable partners in creating new revenue opportunities in the enterprise mobile business with Samsung products and solutions. The program and submission process ensures that enterprises and SMBs have access to the most advanced technology solutions and services. Movius' myIDs Secure will be shown with Samsung KNOX at Mobile World Congress (Samsung Booth Hall 8.1) in Barcelona, Spain, beginning March 2-5, 2015.
Movius is the industry's first mobile solutions provider to offer multi-line and messaging capabilities on a single SIM card, as well as enterprise split billing capabilities for both voice and data. Furthermore, it is the only mobile multiple identity solutions vendor to offer high quality of service through both VoIP and circuit switching, resulting in uninterrupted, clear communications and usage based on minutes instead of data. In addition to further expanding Movius' market presence worldwide, this partnership will help address BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) concerns for mobile enterprises and provide a better quality of service for today's mobile device users.
Enterprises will be able to use Movius' myIDs Secure as an app within the Samsung KNOX Workspace, Samsung's manageable, on-device mobile security solution. Movius' myIDs Secure will enhance Samsung KNOX by providing advanced, enterprise BYOD functionality that works with any mobile device management (MDM) solution, while providing employees with essentially two mobile identities on one device, enabling privacy for the user, security and compliance for the company, as well as an avenue for additional operator revenue in the form of enterprise split billing for voice and data.
"This partnership presents a win-win situation for everyone," said Dominic Gomez, Movius President and CEO. "In addition to helping address the growing BYOD concerns that are faced by both enterprises and their employees today, our multiple identity and enterprise split billing solutions will greatly increase the freedoms that end-users will have in their choice of carriers while using a single SIM card. While myIDs Secure will broaden the innovative mobile capabilities offered by the Samsung KNOX Workspace, it will also help us to further expand our global footprint. We are excited to be part of the Samsung Enterprise Alliance Program and to have a partner of this magnitude as we develop new and innovative solutions that meet the future needs of the mobile workforce."
Movius' myIDs Secure provides familiar functionality on mobile devices:
-- Simple Signup: Once an enterprise administrator configures a corporate
line to work on your Samsung Workspace, users simply open the phone
application and accept the terms and conditions
-- Access to Familiar Applications: Movius' myIDs Secure adds phone,
messaging, and voicemail application icons to your Samsung Workspace.
The features and functionalities on these applications are similar to
those on the personal space
-- Worry-free Billing: Since Movius' myIDs Secure takes care of billing for
all enterprise consumption, personal and business billing is sent
separately to companies and the employee
In a recent report by Gartner(1), half of enterprises surveyed stated that they intend to move exclusively to BYOD for smartphones in 2017, eliminating their employer-supplied option. Furthermore, over three-fourths of organizations cite security issues as the biggest concern with BYOD.
"With the ever increasing growth of BYOD in today's organizations, corporate IT departments are racing to deploy solutions that improve the security of the corporate data accessed on their employees' mobile devices. In addition, both the employer and employees want to clearly delineate between the data and phone charges incurred on mobile devices. Movius' myIDs Secure addresses this demand and integrates seamlessly with the Samsung KNOX Workspace, further improving the quality of wireless call service and expanding the ways in which our mobile devices can be used by our corporate end-users," said Rick Segal, Vice President of Enterprise Business Team, IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "We look forward to a long-standing partnership with Movius as we continue our mission of providing our global customers with the most innovative mobile solutions available."
Meet with Movius at Mobile World Congress (#MWC2015) in Barcelona!

CTC Electronic Announces Worldwide Launch of Dual-Nozzle Touchscreen 3D Printer
ZHUHAI, China, March 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Zhuhai CTC Electronic Co., Ltd. announced the launch of the CTC FDM BIZER III 3D Printer at a press conference held right after the Chinese New Year holiday break at company headquarters in Zhuhai, ushering in a new starting point for China's 3D printing industry.
The CTC 3D Printer received a huge amount of attention from the industry last year. The newly-released CTC BIZER III is not only an upgrade of its predecessor CTC BIZER II, the printer has also achieved breakthroughs in performance and functionality to meet the diversified needs of users from across a wide range of industries.
The CTC BIZER III is sure to attract the industry's attention, with a high quality appearance enhanced by the transparent acrylic integrated into the exterior design. The printer's structural components are wholly made of steel, greatly enhancing stability during the printing process. Compared to the previous CTC BIZER II, another highlight of the product is the improved operation experience: the commonly used button-control panel has been replaced with a touchscreen LED panel (available with an English or Chinese interface). Another breakthrough is the updated upper slicing software, significantly improving the printer's slice processing capability.
"CTC Electronic has massively improved the software and hardware of the open source technology used by Makerbot. The control software has been significantly transformed in CTC BIZER III. The highly user-friendly interactive interface has greatly lowered the bar for 3D printing operation." said He Siyi, Head of Public Relations at CTC Electronic.
The new printer deploys CTC Electronic's intelligent misalignment detection CSN technology, a proprietary technology developed independently by CTC, to align the two-color print heads, avoiding the scratches caused by the time lag when using a single print head and eliminating the potential for mutual interference between the heads that can occur with a double print head.
The CTC BIZER III comes in Chinese and English versions. The company provides a one year warranty for the entire machine. The product, priced at US$1300, is now available for delivery anywhere worldwide. Customers can place their orders now on Tmail.com, Suning or the company's official websiteWWW.CTCPRINTER.COM.

Good Technology Ushers In a New Era of Innovation for Enterprise Mobility with the Next Generation of Good Work
Launch of mobile business desktop and Apple Touch ID app access paired with support for wearables and IoT drive enterprise-focused discussion at MWC
BARCELONA, Spain, March 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- (Mobile World Congress) - Good Technology(TM), the leader in secure mobility, today announced the next wave of innovative new updates to Good Work(TM) that are enabling businesses and entire industries to transform how they securely connect, communicate and collaborate. Today's announcements include a simple, single interface for business apps with Good Launcher(TM), fast, secure application access through Apple Touch ID and secure enterprise support for wearables. These solutions are available now on Good Work and further enhance Good's position as the leading mobile innovator.
"With each new generation of devices and applications, enterprise mobility is being redefined, and business users are expecting new functionality to make them more efficient and successful at work," said Christy Wyatt, chairman and CEO at Good Technology. "As a pioneer in the EMM space, our latest version of Good Work delivers innovations that reshape what the secure mobile work experience looks like on multiple form factors, including smartphones, tablets and now wearables and the Internet of Things."
Good Launcher - the New Business Desktop
Good Launcher is the new business desktop, providing users with access to all the apps they need while mobile with the push of a single button. The simple interface gives users navigational control of Good Work with one-touch toggling between email, calendar, contacts and documents. Additionally, Good Launcher enables users with access to all Good apps including Good Access(TM), Good Connect(TM), Good Share(TM) and Good for Salesforce1 or any of the over 1,600 customer-developed Good apps.
Fast, Secure Access to Good-Secured Apps with Apple Touch ID
Some of the most desired consumer features available on mobile devices can also compromise corporate security. Now, Good bridges these two concerns with support for application access via the Apple Touch ID feature on iOS 8 devices. With IT administrator policy enablement, users can enjoy fast access to any Good-secured app using their fingerprints on Apple smartphones and tablets with supporting hardware without compromising Good's container security. As part of the Good Trusted Authentication Framework (TAF), this capability is also available to developers building applications on the Good Dynamics® Secure Mobility Platform.
Delivering the First Secure Container for Wearables and IoT
As wearables and the Internet of Things become more prevalent, companies face the same security challenges they already face with smartphones and tablets being brought into their workforces. Today, Good also announced that it is the only enterprise mobility management (EMM) vendor providing secure data and content access on wearables through the Good Dynamics Platform.
Good Dynamics ensures security and protection of business data accessed by and stored on wearables and shared between other Good-secured apps. This opens up almost limitless possibilities for wearables to be used for two-factor authentication or access control to Good Work or any other Good-secured app running on a smartphone. For example, a nurse might access patient data remotely on a mobile app only after second factor authentication via her smartwatch. In other cases, a fitness band might be used as an additional means of access control for restricted building access.
Today, Good is enabling a new era of productivity for business with secure access to corporate email and calendars on paired wearable devices through Good Work. Support for Android Wear with Good Work brings a broad range of interaction and collaboration to the wrist. Users can receive push notifications, accept or reject meeting requests, and respond to emails using voice recognition or preset responses all from the wearable. Centralized policy controls allow IT departments to enable or disable wearable capabilities for Good Work and for any other Good-secured app built on the Good Dynamics platform.

Good Technology Pioneers Enterprise Mobile Data Security in the Era of Wearables and the Internet of Things
Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform now supports smartwatches, fitness trackers and other next-generation mobile devices
BARCELONA, Spain, March 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- (Mobile World Congress) - Good Technology(TM), the leader in secure mobility, today announced support for the rapidly expanding ecosystem of connected things and wearables on the Good Dynamics® Secure Mobility Platform. Good is the only enterprise mobility management (EMM) vendor mobilizing apps and content for secure access on wearables. Good Dynamics enables security and protection of business data accessed by and stored on wearables and shared between other Good-secured apps. Good is also enabling a new era of productivity with access to corporate email and calendars on paired wearable devices through Good Work(TM).
The Internet of Things represents the next frontier for secure mobility, extending beyond smartphones and tablets to include connected cars, smart meters, vending machines, wearables and other non-traditional connected devices in the enterprise. With IDC estimating that the installed and connected base of IoT units will reach approximately 30 billion in 2020(1), the impact on the enterprise will be huge.
Wearables are already enhancing productivity by keeping employees connected without having to reach for a paired smartphone. For example, with Good Work a user now has the ability to glance at a wristwatch to quickly scan email or accept a meeting invitation. But much more is possible with Good-secured apps for wearables and the Internet of Things. For example, a mechanic on a manufacturing line could use a wearable to scan parts for defects and automatically log an order for repairs.
"As more connected devices proliferate across the enterprise, it's imperative to understand the implications they present so that organizations can permit increased employee productivity without endangering sensitive data," said Christy Wyatt, chairman and CEO of Good Technology. "Good has a long history of innovation and securing data across a large ecosystem of devices."
The Good Dynamics Platform enables the development of secure mobile apps for a broad range of features on wearable devices, such as mobile identity and access management features including two-factor authentication and access control. For example, a fitness tracker or a smartwatch could be used to unlock access to Good Work or any other Good-secured app running on a smartphone.
Support for Android Wear with Good Work brings a broad range of interaction and collaboration to the wrist. Users can get push notifications, accept or reject meeting requests, and respond to emails using voice recognition or preset responses all from the wearable. Centralized policy controls allow IT departments to enable or disable wearable capabilities for Good Work and for any other Good-secured app built on the Good Dynamics platform.
"Wearable devices give people powerful new ways to access the information and services that are most important to them, whatever they may be," said Rick Osterloh, president of Motorola Mobility. "While much of the focus has been on consumers, there is also a huge opportunity for wearables to better connect people to the productivity services and applications that have become so essential in the workplace."
The Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform is immediately available for the development of Good-secured apps for wearables and other connected things. Good Work is immediately available to use on any Android Wear device, as well as a variety of other small-factor devices.
