Hosting company pledges support to new internet infrastructure advocacy group
DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A Small Orange, a shared, reseller, VPS, and dedicated web hosting company with offices in Durham, NC, has announced its commitment to support the new i2Coalition -- a nonprofit organization comprised primarily of web hosting companies, data centers, and registrars who are dedicated to fostering public policy that supports responsible economic growth within Internet based technologies.
The new i2Coalition was developed in response to the recent SOPA and PIPA bills. "Our industry needed to step forward and educate legislators on the infrastructure that makes the Internet possible. The i2Coalition opposes legislation enabling law enforcement organizations to search, seize, or otherwise interrupt communication without court approval or probable cause or in a matter inconsistent with the US Constitution.
The coalition is also opposed to the taxation of online services such as the imposition of sales and/or recreational taxes on information, downloads, or other services provided by online communication services. The group will attempt to stop legislation that attempts to place liability based on an individual's communications and/or actions on the owners, operators, managers, or shareholders of online communication systems.

Verizon Wireless Expands High-Speed 4G LTE Network In Omaha And Lincoln, Nebraska, On Sept. 20
America's Largest 4G LTE Network Covers More Than 75 Percent of the U.S. Population
OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless today announced that more customers in the greater Omaha and Lincoln areas will have access to its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network when the company expands its 4G LTE network on Sept. 20. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and has more coverage than all other U.S. wireless providers combined. Verizon Wireless has announced its intention to provide 4G LTE coverage in 400 markets across the United States before the end of 2012.
Verizon Wireless first launched its 4G LTE network in Omaha/Council Bluffs on Aug. 18, 2011. The expanded 4G LTE coverage will include:
-- North to Arlington, Blair and Kennard including coverage along State
Highway 133 to Blair and U.S. Highway 30 from Blair to Fremont;
-- South to Cedar Creek, Louisville and Plattsmouth, including coverage

Highway coverage will extend south of Lincoln on U.S. Highway 77 to Princeton and west of U.S. Highway 77 on State Highway 33 to S.W. 100(th) Street.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Emmy Award-winning anthology horror series "Tales from the Crypt" returns to network television starting Friday, October 5, when FEARnet debuts TV versions of the groundbreaking program on its linear channel and presents original episodes on its VOD platform. This marks the first time that "Tales from the Crypt" can be seen on network TV since 2004, when it was previously syndicated.
The TV "Tales from the Crypt" episodes will premiere Friday nights in a two-hour block on FEARnet from 10 p.m. to Midnight ET/7 p.m. to 9 p.m. PT and will be re-aired on Mondays in the same time period. The 93 produced episodes will play in order, beginning with season one and continuing through its seventh, and final, season.
The original cable versions of "Tales from the Crypt," running from 1989 to 1996, are now available for the first time since their first airing, for FEARnet's VOD platform. StartingWednesday, October 10, the premiere episodes will launch on FEARnet's VOD platform, which is currently available in more than 26 million homes. On FEARnet's industry-leading VOD Channel, the episodes will be presented in their original unedited format. Four episodes will be added to the VOD library every Wednesday, ensuring that there will always be something new and fresh for viewers to watch. American Airlines Flight Attendants To Make Travel More Personalized With Innovative Inflight Tablet Program
American's Tablet Program Planned to be the First of its Kind for any Airline
FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A more personalized inflight experience will become a reality later this year as American Airlines flight attendants begin using the sleek, new Samsung Galaxy Note(®) as part of American's innovative tablet program designed to put invaluable customer data at their fingertips.
"This is a huge step towards a new, modern American Airlines, as our tablet program is the first of its kind in the airline industry, where our flight attendants will have the most up-to-date customer information in the palms of their hands, allowing them to better serve our customers from boarding to deplaning," said Lauri Curtis, American's Vice President - Flight Service. The new devices will be a strategic tool for flight attendants giving them greater access to more information about the customers onboard their flight. To better serve customers, American's flight attendants can use the device to:
-- Access customer information such as name, seat number and loyalty
program status in a seat map view and customer list view;
-- Record meal and beverage preferences for premium class customers;
-- Easily identify high-value customers seated in the premium cabins and in
the main cabin, and customers requiring special assistance; and,
-- Provide customers with connecting gate, flight delays and weather
information - pending FAA approval, all information will be
automatically updated when Wi-Fi is available on the aircraft.
American intends to use the devices for transactions onboard the aircraft such as purchasing food inflight, pending FAA approval. The Samsung Galaxy Note is a SAFE(TM)-designated device that offers a full portfolio of enterprise-ready features and capabilities. Additional functionality such as the addition of the flight attendant manual and more will continue to roll out over time. Adding the manual to the device will eventually eliminate the need for flight attendants to carry paper manuals - a more fuel efficient and environmentally-friendly approach.
American began piloting the program this spring. Beginning later this year through mid-2013, American will roll out the selected devices to all of its approximately 17,000 flight attendants. The Samsung Galaxy Note was chosen based on flight attendant feedback after months of testing different devices. Through testing, the Samsung Galaxy Note was ultimately selected because of its thin, portable design, easy to handle profile, SAFE security features, and 5.3-inch HD display that provide wide-screen readability and the functionality necessary to equip flight attendants with the ability to better know their customers and deliver the service they value.
